The BMW 2 Series: A Practical yet Sporty Coupe
The BMW 2 Series is based on the one series hatchback, and while it lacks that car's liftback tailgate, it still offers more practicality than many of its coupe rivals. The outright boot capacity of 305 L may not be exactly massive, but a reasonably wide boot opening makes it relatively easy to lift stuff in, despite the high load lip.
One of the standout features of the boot is the handy cubby hole storage net shopping bag hook, and 12-volt socket that allows you to fit two large suitcases in the boot of the 2 Series. This may seem like a bit of a squeeze, but it's impressive nonetheless, especially when considering there's easily space for a stroll and other baby paraphernalia. There's also room for golf clubs, making this car an excellent choice for those with different needs.
When you follow the rear seats down, you can carry a TV-sized box, load two medium-sized boxes plus two small ones through the doors and onto the rear seat backs, and then fill the rest of the boot with a small suitcase and a few soft bags. You can even fit a bike in once the front wheel has been removed, although the rear seat releases do get in the way somewhat.
Despite its compact size, the 2 Series is actually pretty good in the back. The rear bench is a strict two-seater, but there's just enough headroom for average-sized adults, and leg room is acceptable too. Fitting a child seat is easier than in many small coupe rivals, thanks to the iso fix anchor points being easy to get to, as well as the front seat sliding forward, providing plenty of room to install the child seat itself.
One of the biggest surprises about the 2 Series is its amazing car storage. You can fit a 1.5 L and 1 lit bottle in the door bins together, as well as a big glove box and some handy cup holders in front of the gear selector. There's also space for your phone, making this an excellent choice for those who need to stay organized on the go.
Overall, the BMW 2 Series is very practical for a small sporty coupe, offering more functionality than many of its competitors. It's a car you can buy with both your head and heart, thanks to its impressive features list and comfortable ride.
