**Title: Hoo's Garage: A Journey Through Financial Struggles, Car Restoration, and Passion for Automotive Adventure**

---

### Introduction

Welcome to a behind-the-scenes look at the world of Hoo's Garage, where the creator delves into the challenges and triumphs of his automotive journey. In this article, we explore the highs and lows of restoring vehicles, financial struggles, and the passion that drives it all.

---

### The Dilemma: Financial Struggles and Deep Holes

The creator begins by humorously admitting to digging himself into a "deep hole," both literally and metaphorically. Literally, this refers to the excavation work on his pond, which had become overgrown with cattails and needed extensive cleaning. Metaphorically, he is facing financial challenges due to the ongoing renovation of his garage (referred to as Hoo Garage 3.0) and the numerous projects involving his collection of cars, or "hoopties."

The renovation has come with unexpected costs, such as moving the building pad 152 feet due to permitting issues, adding an extra $5,000 to the budget. Additionally, landscaping and interior renovations have proven more expensive than anticipated, pushing the overall budget well over the initial estimate of $300,000.

---

### The Land Rover Incident: A Test of Patience and Skill

A significant portion of the video addresses criticism received after a recent video where the creator tested the off-road capabilities of a Land Rover Range Rover Evoke convertible in a mud pit. Many viewers were upset by what they perceived as unnecessary destruction of the vehicle.

The creator clarifies that he had no intention of destroying the car and was unaware of its poor mechanical condition when purchased. He emphasizes that he buys cars at auctions sight unseen, often ending up with vehicles in worse shape than expected. In this case, the Land Rover required extensive repairs, including a misaligned front bumper, scratches, and an engine issue caused by excessive use of stop leak additive.

The creator assures viewers that the car is being repaired to better condition than when purchased. He highlights his passion for resurrecting cars, drawing inspiration from classic Top Gear challenges, where he修复 vehicles at the brink of death and bringing them back to life.

---

### The Cost of Doing Business: Selling Cars to Survive

Due to financial constraints, the creator has had to resort to selling several cars to fund ongoing projects. He humorously refers to this as "whittling down" his collection. Among the cars being sold are:

- **Callaway C8**: A high-performance car with a crazy body kit and over 400 horsepower.

- **Buick Park Avenue Ultra**: A luxury sedan that is likely to be sold next.

- **Casey Kane Road Course Car**: Owned by a friend, it is in need of significant repairs.

The creator acknowledges the difficulty of letting go of these vehicles but understands the necessity of selling them to continue his passion for restoring and creating content.

---

### The Farm Update: Renovation Challenges

The creator provides an update on his farm renovation projects. The pond, initially intended as a mud bog for testing vehicles, has been transformed into a clean water feature with depths reaching up to 16 feet. This project alone cost $177,000, in addition to the $15,000 already spent on expanding its edges.

The main farmhouse, dating back to 1895, is undergoing extensive renovations. The interior has revealed layers of poor-quality flooring and shoddy workmanship over the years, necessitating significant repairs. The exterior landscaping has also been a costly endeavor, with $50,000 spent on gates, trees, and other improvements.

Despite these challenges, the creator expresses gratitude for the opportunity to live in an amazing property surrounded by his collection of cars, acknowledging how much harder it was for previous generations to achieve such a lifestyle.

---

### The Car Collection: A Glimpse at the HoopTies

The creator gives a tour of his current car collection, stored temporarily in a hanger due to ongoing garage renovations. Highlights include:

- **Buick Grand National**: Undergoing routine maintenance.

- **Ferrari 360 and Lamborghini Testaro**: Restored and ready for use.

- **Land Rover Range Rover Evoke Convertible**: Currently at the car wizards, with plans to restore it fully.

The creator humorously refers to his collection as "hoopties," a term of endearment for his diverse and often expensive vehicles.

---

### Conclusion: Gratitude and Future Plans

The creator expresses gratitude to his audience for their support, acknowledging that without viewership, he wouldn't be able to continue his passion for car restoration and content creation. He apologizes for any offense caused by recent videos and assures fans that the Land Rover will be restored to better condition.

Despite financial struggles, the creator remains optimistic about the future. He looks forward to completing his garage renovation and continuing his journey of restoring and selling cars, one hoopty at a time.

Thank you for joining him on this adventure, as he continues to navigate the world of deep holes (both literal and metaphorical) and automotive passion.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwelcome to hoo's garage the dumbest autom channel in all of YouTube and I have dug myself a really deep hole first literally here with the pond and metaphorically in a few ways one being my financial situation with this house and hooy garage 3.0 renovation and all the hoopties and then also in my last couple of videos which you all seem to have a pretty negative reaction to me using this once in lifetime opportunity to test the off-road skills of the Land Rover Range Rover Evoke convertible in this mud pit that is now a nice clean Pond that is filling up so I wanted to address that today in this video update you on all the farm stuff and check in with the car Wizard and yes I am fixing the Land Rover Range Rover ofo convertible I'm going to fix it to much better condition than how I purchased the vehicle I had no plans of destroying it and I had no idea how bad the rig was when I bought it growing up I was a massive fan of Top Gear and would watch the cheap car challenges over and over and over again and being able to do that with cart Trek with tvarish and Ed bullan has been so so much fun and I sort of thought I was in the spirit of that fun of the Old Top Gear challenges when I definitely torture tested that Land Rover in this what was a mudbog and around the farm and now most of you like the video it has like a 92 or 93% like ratio uh but that's kind of low for me usually it's 98 or 99% of you all liking my videos so obviously that means some of you were upset with my treatment of that car and destroying it just for a destroying sake or thought that I had just destroyed that vehicle because I knew it was broken on arrival now one thing that I do on purpose just for fun is buy these cheapest cars in the USA side unseen trusting the sellers on their word or just buying it at auction and seeing what I'm going to get for better or worse and recently it has been a whole lot of worse with the Maserati gbi and the Land Rover but with the Land Rover I got it kind of Muddy I rubbed it up against a tree that scratched the side of it and I misaligned the front bumper all of which can be fixed and as I was driving it up to the car wiard to get it inspected the engine exploded on the way up someone had poured stop leak into the engine before I purchased it and me off-roading it all the Full Throttle pulls and things finally let the head gasket all the way loose and hastened it demise obviously I couldn't take it back down to get it detailed because it won't drive more than a mile right now so I had to leave it up there with them it kind of threw off our plans but there was nothing really staged or prefigured out beforehand and I've gotten some Flack before when I buried or destroyed some cars that were mechanically total that would have been a burden for the next owner to own even if I gave that vehicle to them and that's always left me scratching my head because if I gave that Land Rover to someone who needed a car that needed reliable transportation and they they didn't have the connections I have to buy engines cheaper and uh you know the car wizard to fix things at a discount they would have to spend you know well over $10,000 to get the car working again and then they're still in a very unreliable Land Rover when they could have just bought a Toyota Camry for half that price from the mid 2000s something much more reasonable to own a list of hundreds of cars now on the flip side of that if I didn't buy the Land Rover let's say I just took that money and gave it to someone say I took the 20 grand and bought four good reliable cars for people and just gave it to them I wouldn't be making a video about that which is how I make a living is creating content by buying crappy cars so then I wouldn't be making a living so it just it it doesn't make sense my charitable giving and all that stuff doesn't usually happen on camera because that's sort of cringy but I also get the criticism even though I'm doing this more in the style of old school Top Gear and not whistling diesel that I am not whistling diesel I don't buy cars to set up purposely to destroy them I buy them at the brink of death and resurrect them much like this Ford Raptor which I did jump around the farm but then went through and fixed everything on it even though it has 307,000 mil and showing plenty of wear and tear but it's now sorted out and a great reliable truck and that's what you all are used to and if I do anything different if I deviate from that a little bit I'm punished when it comes to views and I'm punished in the comment section so I've been doing more or less the same thing over and over again for many years buying the cheapest example of something in the USA and then fixing it enjoying the car for a little while and then usually eventually selling it so I can buy the next thing and continue the cycle and even though it is repetitive I love this and love doing it so I don't mind but my feelings do get hurt a little bit when I do experiment when I do something different say on my channel for a one-off video and uh I get absolutely murdered for it or if I want to do more content and start an all new Channel Good Morning YouTube which does not take away from my car content at all on hovie's garage once again I am just brutalized in the comment section and I know this is a small majority because my good morning YouTube videos have a 98 99% like ratio getting a lot of views and traction lately so it's growing and I'm very happy about that and hu's garage well it really hasn't suffered all that I'm not growing at the rapid rate like all the YouTubers were four or five years ago but I'm still growing still doing well still happy but obviously I can't make everyone happy and for those of you that I offended by abusing that Land Rover I am sorry but once again I promise I am going to fix it we are going to go to the car Wizards today and check on it actually the engine is in the replacement engine to fix that little evoke convertible we'll check on the other projects but also uh because of this mess that I'm in with the farm financially I am going to have to sell a few more cars probably a lot more than a few cars so I'm also going to take you through the farm and all the projects and show you how well this is spiraling sort of out of control budget- wise including this Pond which we had to dig out when I went to the pond earlier was trying to get out the Cattails with my Jeep I went to the middle and the water level was about right right here which is a swamp no fish or anything would survive in it other than like nasty swamp algae and creatures so it had to be fixed it had to be dug out again we're about 10 ft deep here probably 15 or 16 in the middle and that was another $177,000 in addition to the 15,000 that I had spent already to sort of broaden out the edges of the pond to make the berms in the front so that was one surprise but there are many more up around the house so let me show you so the one thing that has stuck to the plan and more or less to the budget is my 60x 100 building hooie garage 3.0 which you can see how much bigger it is than the old barn this 30x40 barn and it is massive the only surprise was during the permitting process where I had to move the building pad over oh about 152 ft because they didn't want it too close to the property line which you can see I have no neighbors it really doesn't matter but they have an easement and I had to follow the rules so that was only $5,000 extra dollar to move over the level building Pad but other than that it's been smooth sailing I suppose since it sat outside for so long in the construction I'll have to have the beams painted that's an extra cost because they got corroded but you can see here is the Loft space more or less framed up and completed just needing finishing here one stall for a car and then you have a storage closet under here or a utility room and then you go upstairs and I have my loft office to where I can look down on all of the hoopties this is all more or less completed we'll do something fancier with the railings obviously in the finishing out but what a view it will be when it is finally finished now I still have no electricity in here no lighting no garage doors all in I'm probably going to be around 300,000 into this building completely done and ready for hoopties which is more or less what I thought it was going to cost the big surprises come in the form of landscaping and inside of the ancient Farmhouse which is a surprise to absolutely nobody so we're kind of off a reasonably busy road it's still a two- laner going up to 55 right where the house is at so I needed the gates for the privacy and the BMS and all the trees and the Landscaping so that was about $50,000 and there's still more to do obviously things are very torn up around here and they'll need to be more leveling out over by the pond I mentioned the pond surprise already but the cool part with the house is the temporary wall is finally down so when you go inside you are greeted to 1895 Farmhouse this would have been the dining room actually there was a front door over here in sort of the main living room or reception area all lower ceilings All This Old House kind of thing but the transition now into the new edition is pretty dramatic now that this temporary wall is down we have a new great room with big ceilings that ties in to what is now the reception area and the kitchen very nicely and you have these huge ceilings in a fantastic family room or great room with a fire place a TV that'll swivel out from here to angle out to the sofas and such some more storage and now it is opened up and we are out of the 1800s now the original budget for this was supposed to be $300,000 or less and you can imagine that didn't happen I anticipated going 20% over and we're probably going to do that the big surprise currently is the flooring you can see there is some ancient floors under here that are actually pretty darn cool but there was an extra layer unfortunately there was this floor and then the gray floor that came in the house that's all been ripped out so having to put down a new layer of subfloor that is a surprise and this area is a nice little uh cob job surprise right here of plywood and there was actually some cardboard in this it was always very bouncy in this area and we found out why just shoddy work unfortunately over the new flooring here's what's left of that new laminate flooring that was in the house when I bought it and uh oh just couldn't stand it gray and very fake looking so you can see inside here's more of that 1800's Pine planks and uh wallpaper choices are very interesting all throughout the house there was some weird floral wallpaper just pretty much everywhere inside the old office here which you can see some of the new flooring is being laid out uh there was I don't know sort of a camo design in here maybe this was a boy room at some point but also some more old wallpaper right here it's like archaeology peeling back the layers of uh tastes and Trends over the last 100 plus years but what was the original part I should say in addition in the ' 80s was this section was a garage in sort of a craft room or apartment one bedroom one bath and now this is the new main bedroom we were able to blow up the ceilings a little bit here but with the pitch of the roof we couldn't do the whole thing but now a very very spacious bedroom bathroom and closet and my mistake my huist was taking all of this on at once I could have done the building first for the cars and then done the house the next year or two and really done the pond Landscaping in the next year or two but uh for whatever reason thought well let's just get it all done and I'll do out of pocket no construction loan just pay as I go and uh that's what has got me into this pickle that I am in which I'm hoping by the time it's all done I do have some cars left because I continue to have to sell and sell and sell which all the hoopties are still at The Hanger so let's drive a little bit north and then eventually we'll head to the car Wizards and check out the Land Rover which I am fixing don't worry as I leave the farm I do realize that I am complaining about being in an amazing situation with that beautiful property all the cars that I do have I am a very very fortunate person and that may be the biggest difference between well 20 years ago when they were making Top Gear challenges and today to realize your dreams or just to have the basic American dream of owning a home having a couple of cars and some Financial Security is way more difficult than it was a few decades ago where you just laugh off someone destroying something but when you really have no hope of ever owning anything cool for yourself you're in dep forever it's frustrating to viewers to see someone being wasteful and I think that's led to the rise of so many aspirational channels these gurus and advisers and get rich with crypto and whatever because it seems like the only way to do that is to become a social media sensation or do it in some quick crazy way with uh things that I don't understand really when it comes to all that intangible stuff hard work starting a business doing it that way it doesn't work anymore or at least a lot more difficult in the old fash way so my situation I know pales in comparison to most people and I am very very fortunate but uh I am going to have to sell a lot more cars but my fleece sort of whittling down to where it's getting hard to make a decision on which one to pull the trigger on next but there is one and it is a tough choice that I am going to let go of so I'll show you that and the remaining hoopties in the hanger it'll be so nice in a few short months to step out of my house a few steps into huies gar 3.0 and have all the room I could ever have dreamed of to two store hoopties now the hanger is a wonderful temporary place but it is sort of out in the middle of nowhere it's not mine I have it too Jam full of cars which is a little frustrating for the actual owner and it's sort of an a TOA point for me I come all the way out here drive the car and then put it back here because I can't really keep anything at the house right now with all the construction all the dust the uh new garage isn't enclosed yet so everything nice just sits out here I don't bring it over to the house much now a lot of the cars in here are not mine like this nasar you all have been asking about it is a real Casey Kane Road Course car from about 15 years ago that a friend of mine Rob santor bought but it is very much a hoopy leaking oil for flat tires and uh he doesn't fit in it because he's a little shorter than me and Casey Kane is a lot shorter than me I barely fit in this and uh Rob can't even climb in and drive his own car right now so it needs a lot of work it's going out soon in addition there's a new car in here it's not mine a new Bentley Continental GTC convertible one of the last with the W2 which is going away so it will be a fun comparison to try out this in comparison to my Bentley 20 years difference of cels and the W12 being gone the birth and then the death of the W12 and probably the death of Bentley as we know it with the hybrids and different drivetrains they're not selling as well as its Glory Days with the W12 which they are choosing not to continue with now one car that I am going to let go of is the Callaway C8 not because I want to but because I sort of need to and it's not something that since it's been fixed that I drive all that much as fun as it would be to sit on this car and see what the next few decades do as far as appreciation as rare as this thing is a Car and Driver cover car something tuned by Callaway to over 400 horsepower with this crazy body kit I just can't hang on to everything right now I need to sell some cars so this one is going to go most likely live on cars and bids here in the next couple of weeks which is where I sold the m6 the HHR and the million mile Dodge there'll be that there'll be a few more probably my Buick Park Avenue Ultra and some others but I am probably going to have to make a harder decision with something else whether it be my Classics with the 62 Corvette the 49 Cadillac or the 46 Chrysler three classic cars maybe one's going to have to go or my heavy hitting Exotics it can't really be the cage because I have that one hawked uh to pay bills I took out of $300,000 loan against it so that one's basically a mortgage right there that I'm making a payment on to uh continue to keep the circus going so that sort of leaves the SR McLaren the 599 gated manual and the zh each three of these cars I love they do different things give me different feels uh so I really really don't want to once again compared to most people's problems this is a wonderful position to be in and I know eventually I will be able to dig myself out of it because you all watch these videos and enjoy them so thank you so much for that and you're subscribed to hoo's garage or at least a little more than half of you if you haven't already well please hit that button and subscribe I do very much appreciate but we do have one more stop like I said I promise I am going to fix that Land Rover roke convertible to better than when I got it I am going to follow through on this promise and let me show you how I am up at the car Wizards all right back up at the Wizards at the scene of the crime and yes I did rag on this thing pretty hard and clearly uh a lot of stuff had fallen off but it's all inside the bumper definitely fixable although it is misaligned it can all be put back the only damage was on this side when I ran it up against a tree pushed it in a little bit but keep in mind there was a dent from the previous owner right here so I was going to need to repaint that whole side anyway to make it all match and look nice PDR uh wouldn't have quite done it because the paint was also damaged so I'm going to have to paint the door now in addition to the rear quarter uh fix the bumper maybe some of these trim pieces all around in salvage yards because it's the same as the fiveo evoke so it's not that screwed up the only thing that was the big issue was the engine which I hastened its demise thanks to the top leak and I'll definitely be spending a lot of money uh cleaning up the interior because it is a big mess in there and the brake issue but it will be fixed I did not destroy this thing I am done it was a once in a-lifetime opportunity to have that mud pit in my yard and actually the engine's right here but the the car wizard is over over here playing with my Maserati engine wizard what are you trying to get my fist out of this thing what what are you doing fisting a dead Maserati engine isn't that what you're supposed to do is it like a Chinese finger trap you just sort of dang look at it had had me pretty tight in there the academy award goes to the car wizard for finger trapping himself in a Maserati V6 but uh things do get done here even though I walk in and wizard is always doing something interesting something weird yeah so yes um the new engine for the Land Rover is over here yes and a lot of people were saying well why don't you just throw a head gasket in it why don't you just fix that motor and wizard is not really interested in taking on things like that no and also the fact that it has 5 gallons of stop leak all through the whole engine and yeah the Dropout engine was $4,000 shipped that was more than we thought it was going to be unfortunately uh the Maserati engine still hasn't arrived yet the replac one that I've ordered uh well we're almost a month waiting on this engine from this salvage yard that is behind apparently dropping out engines but this one was instant so well if you kind of run the numbers if you think about it if we take the head off we're not going to put your old timing chains and your old parts and your old stuff back on it mhm fixing the head gasket getting the machine work done you could be at 3 or four grand just to do that it's not much more you can just replace the whole engine be done there's no there's no questions about this it's done it's one in and done right this is a drop in with a 90-day warranty sometimes an engine is bad in the salvage yard and it's becoming more common nowadays because people are getting behind on their payments or their car is kind of broken and they're getting behind on their payments so they kind of crashed into a tree to make the insurance claim so there's a lot of bad cars in the salvage yard for that reason uh but hopefully that's not the case because head gasket issues very common on these 2 L Fords all over the place with the Ford Fiestas and everything else and someone had the bright idea of doing like a a Focus RS or St Fiesta ST swap you know with it but no amazingly there's enough different on this engine that the the actual Ford engine won't just direct swap there's a lot of brackets and things that are different right so you will make the Land Rover eventually better than what it was when I got it and it will be cleaned before it comes back in here uh we have a guy that is going to come out and power wash it and clean it all up so the car wizard doesn't get covered in in pwn scum and everything yeah so it it will be fixed it will be better than it was and sorry for those of you that got offended by the thought of me destroying that magnificent beautiful convertible out there I don't understand what they're upset about we've literally buried cars well people get mad when I do that as well but it's always cars that were mechanically total that weren't worth saving but yeah uh it is what it is yeah but the normal stuff continues so the Buick Grand National is up here for a normal oil service and then the uh T-top seals which I left off all winter the t-tops and that seemed to finally do in the uh seals themselves yeah we have all new gaskets ordered for the T-top and you can see here they're just not even sealing anymore right I think when I left it off it sort of expanded enough and now it's not squishing because it's just not malleable anymore really hard seals so the whistling is pretty bad it's it's much quieter now with the te- tops off so that's kind of annoying but otherwise it's been a really solid vehicle good and like I said the Maserati we're still waiting on parts wizard wizard will have a video out soon inventorying all these parts which is just pretty unfreaking believable it is it's crazy yeah but uh I see the GT500 which you uh took from me in exchange for uh not paying some bills so have you done any more work to it uh I've cleaned it up we actually got a brand new clutch of a cloud twin disc clutch in it the old one was it was slipping and it was stiff and Mrs W's going to be driving it so a little bit easier little bit easier clutch but it needs to be able to handle all the power too so hopefully it's up to the task but I didn't notice any slipping the old one when we took it off off it was discolored in blue and there was hot spots on the flywheel it was it was slipping at some point I didn't it was I think it was before you going to say I wasn't that abusive with that one a few donuts and things but no uh slippy dippy of the clutch so yeah the 456 is in its final phases I guess of repairs there's nothing really left to do other than a few test runs the test runs we're chasing a possible small ground issue for a wire but other than that it runs and dries perfect awesome well and Daniel's definitely in his happy place yes he's surrounded in Ferraris yeah the Ferrari 360 and then the tester Roa and that's actually the tester Roa from uh the person I bought the two Lamborghinis from the one I bought my Kosh from so saw this sitting in there years ago and it hasn't moved in four years so finally he's getting it out of mothballs I guess you'll do an in-depth video on it I assume soon right yep danielson's going to go Bumper to Bumper is I say on this thing it's going to be expensive but the the owner very apologetic he's like I'm sad that it got this way but hey I'm ready to pay for it let's get this fixed let's get it right because I want to cruise in this thing well thankfully they've appreciated a lot in recent years to where the investment is worth it because back when these were you know $4 or $50,000 a lot of them became this way yeah it's really cool to see one sadly I bought mine years ago when they were still cheap but then sent it back because of a title issue and now I've completely missed the boat but uh still have plenty of fine hoop including the Land Rover Range Rover Evoke which will be fixed it is a wonderful car yeah thank you so much for watchingwelcome to hoo's garage the dumbest autom channel in all of YouTube and I have dug myself a really deep hole first literally here with the pond and metaphorically in a few ways one being my financial situation with this do experiment when I do something different say on my channel for a one-off video and uh I get absolutely murdered for it or if I want to do more content and start an all new Channel Good Morning YouTube which does not take away from my car content at all on hovie's garage once again I am just brutalized in the comment section and I know this is a small majority because my good morning YouTube videos have a 98 99% like ratio getting a lot of views and traction lately so it's growing and I'm very happy about that and hu's garage well it really hasn't suffered all that I'm not growing at the rapid rate like all the YouTubers were four or five years ago but I'm still growing still doing well still happy but obviously I can't make everyone happy and for those of you that I offended by abusing that Land Rover I am sorry but once again I promise I am going to fix it we are going to go to the car Wizards today and check on it actually the engine is in the replacement engine to fix that little evoke convertible we'll check on the other projects but also uh because of this mess that I'm in with the farm financially I am going to have to sell a few more cars probably a lot more than a few cars so I'm also going to take you through the farm and all the projects and show you how well this is spiraling sort of out of control budget- wise including this Pond which we had to dig out when I went to the pond earlier was trying to get out the Cattails with my Jeep I went to the middle and the water level was about right right here which is a swamp no fish or anything would survive in it other than like nasty swamp algae and creatures so it had to be fixed it had to be dug out again we're about 10 ft deep here probably 15 or 16 in the middle and that was another $177,000 in addition to the 15,000 that I had spent already to sort of broaden out the edges of the pond to make the berms in the front so that was one surprise but there are many more up around the house so let me show you so the one thing that has stuck to the plan and more or less to the budget is my 60x 100 building hooie garage 3.0 which you can see how much bigger it is than the old barn this 30x40 barn and it is massive the only surprise was during the permitting process where I had to move the building pad over oh about 152 ft because they didn't want it too close to the property line which you can see I have no neighbors it really doesn't matter but they have an easement and I had to follow the rules so that was only $5,000 extra dollar to move over the level building Pad but other than that it's been smooth sailing I suppose since it sat outside for so long in the construction I'll have to have the beams painted that's an extra cost because they got corroded but you can see here is the Loft space more or less framed up and completed just needing finishing here one stall for a car and then you have a storage closet under here or a utility room and then you go upstairs and I have my loft office to where I can look down on all of the hoopties this is all more or less completed we'll do something fancier with the railings obviously in the finishing out but what a view it will be when it is finally finished now I still have no electricity in here no lighting no garage doors all in I'm probably going to be around 300,000 into this building completely done and ready for hoopties which is more or less what I thought it was going to cost the big surprises come in the form of landscaping and inside of the ancient Farmhouse which is a surprise to absolutely nobody so we're kind of off a reasonably busy road it's still a two- laner going up to 55 right where the house is at so I needed the gates for the privacy and the BMS and all the trees and the Landscaping so that was about $50,000 and there's still more to do obviously things are very torn up around here and they'll need to be more leveling out over by the pond I mentioned the pond surprise already but the cool part with the house is the temporary wall is finally down so when you go inside you are greeted to 1895 Farmhouse this would have been the dining room actually there was a front door over here in sort of the main living room or reception area all lower ceilings All This Old House kind of thing but the transition now into the new edition is pretty dramatic now that this temporary wall is down we have a new great room with big ceilings that ties in to what is now the reception area and the kitchen very nicely and you have these huge ceilings in a fantastic family room or great room with a fire place a TV that'll swivel out from here to angle out to the sofas and such some more storage and now it is opened up and we are out of the 1800s now the original budget for this was supposed to be $300,000 or less and you can imagine that didn't happen I anticipated going 20% over and we're probably going to do that the big surprise currently is the flooring you can see there is some ancient floors under here that are actually pretty darn cool but there was an extra layer unfortunately there was this floor and then the gray floor that came in the house that's all been ripped out so having to put down a new layer of subfloor that is a surprise and this area is a nice little uh cob job surprise right here of plywood and there was actually some cardboard in this it was always very bouncy in this area and we found out why just shoddy work unfortunately over the new flooring here's what's left of that new laminate flooring that was in the house when I bought it and uh oh just couldn't stand it gray and very fake looking so you can see inside here's more of that 1800's Pine planks and uh wallpaper choices are very interesting all throughout the house there was some weird floral wallpaper just pretty much everywhere inside the old office here which you can see some of the new flooring is being laid out uh there was I don't know sort of a camo design in here maybe this was a boy room at some point but also some more old wallpaper right here it's like archaeology peeling back the layers of uh tastes and Trends over the last 100 plus years but what was the original part I should say in addition in the ' 80s was this section was a garage in sort of a craft room or apartment one bedroom one bath and now this is the new main bedroom we were able to blow up the ceilings a little bit here but with the pitch of the roof we couldn't do the whole thing but now a very very spacious bedroom bathroom and closet and my mistake my huist was taking all of this on at once I could have done the building first for the cars and then done the house the next year or two and really done the pond Landscaping in the next year or two but uh for whatever reason thought well let's just get it all done and I'll do out of pocket no construction loan just pay as I go and uh that's what has got me into this pickle that I am in which I'm hoping by the time it's all done I do have some cars left because I continue to have to sell and sell and sell which all the hoopties are still at The Hanger so let's drive a little bit north and then eventually we'll head to the car Wizards and check out the Land Rover which I am fixing don't worry as I leave the farm I do realize that I am complaining about being in an amazing situation with that beautiful property all the cars that I do have I am a very very fortunate person and that may be the biggest difference between well 20 years ago when they were making Top Gear challenges and today to realize your dreams or just to have the basic American dream of owning a home having a couple of cars and some Financial Security is way more difficult than it was a few decades ago where you just laugh off someone destroying something but when you really have no hope of ever owning anything cool for yourself you're in dep forever it's frustrating to viewers to see someone being wasteful and I think that's led to the rise of so many aspirational channels these gurus and advisers and get rich with crypto and whatever because it seems like the only way to do that is to become a social media sensation or do it in some quick crazy way with uh things that I don't understand really when it comes to all that intangible stuff hard work starting a business doing it that way it doesn't work anymore or at least a lot more difficult in the old fash way so my situation I know pales in comparison to most people and I am very very fortunate but uh I am going to have to sell a lot more cars but my fleece sort of whittling down to where it's getting hard to make a decision on which one to pull the trigger on next but there is one and it is a tough choice that I am going to let go of so I'll show you that and the remaining hoopties in the hanger it'll be so nice in a few short months to step out of my house a few steps into huies gar 3.0 and have all the room I could ever have dreamed of to two store hoopties now the hanger is a wonderful temporary place but it is sort of out in the middle of nowhere it's not mine I have it too Jam full of cars which is a little frustrating for the actual owner and it's sort of an a TOA point for me I come all the way out here drive the car and then put it back here because I can't really keep anything at the house right now with all the construction all the dust the uh new garage isn't enclosed yet so everything nice just sits out here I don't bring it over to the house much now a lot of the cars in here are not mine like this nasar you all have been asking about it is a real Casey Kane Road Course car from about 15 years ago that a friend of mine Rob santor bought but it is very much a hoopy leaking oil for flat tires and uh he doesn't fit in it because he's a little shorter than me and Casey Kane is a lot shorter than me I barely fit in this and uh Rob can't even climb in and drive his own car right now so it needs a lot of work it's going out soon in addition there's a new car in here it's not mine a new Bentley Continental GTC convertible one of the last with the W2 which is going away so it will be a fun comparison to try out this in comparison to my Bentley 20 years difference of cels and the W12 being gone the birth and then the death of the W12 and probably the death of Bentley as we know it with the hybrids and different drivetrains they're not selling as well as its Glory Days with the W12 which they are choosing not to continue with now one car that I am going to let go of is the Callaway C8 not because I want to but because I sort of need to and it's not something that since it's been fixed that I drive all that much as fun as it would be to sit on this car and see what the next few decades do as far as appreciation as rare as this thing is a Car and Driver cover car something tuned by Callaway to over 400 horsepower with this crazy body kit I just can't hang on to everything right now I need to sell some cars so this one is going to go most likely live on cars and bids here in the next couple of weeks which is where I sold the m6 the HHR and the million mile Dodge there'll be that there'll be a few more probably my Buick Park Avenue Ultra and some others but I am probably going to have to make a harder decision with something else whether it be my Classics with the 62 Corvette the 49 Cadillac or the 46 Chrysler three classic cars maybe one's going to have to go or my heavy hitting Exotics it can't really be the cage because I have that one hawked uh to pay bills I took out of $300,000 loan against it so that one's basically a mortgage right there that I'm making a payment on to uh continue to keep the circus going so that sort of leaves the SR McLaren the 599 gated manual and the zh each three of these cars I love they do different things give me different feels uh so I really really don't want to once again compared to most people's problems this is a wonderful position to be in and I know eventually I will be able to dig myself out of it because you all watch these videos and enjoy them so thank you so much for that and you're subscribed to hoo's garage or at least a little more than half of you if you haven't already well please hit that button and subscribe I do very much appreciate but we do have one more stop like I said I promise I am going to fix that Land Rover roke convertible to better than when I got it I am going to follow through on this promise and let me show you how I am up at the car Wizards all right back up at the Wizards at the scene of the crime and yes I did rag on this thing pretty hard and clearly uh a lot of stuff had fallen off but it's all inside the bumper definitely fixable although it is misaligned it can all be put back the only damage was on this side when I ran it up against a tree pushed it in a little bit but keep in mind there was a dent from the previous owner right here so I was going to need to repaint that whole side anyway to make it all match and look nice PDR uh wouldn't have quite done it because the paint was also damaged so I'm going to have to paint the door now in addition to the rear quarter uh fix the bumper maybe some of these trim pieces all around in salvage yards because it's the same as the fiveo evoke so it's not that screwed up the only thing that was the big issue was the engine which I hastened its demise thanks to the top leak and I'll definitely be spending a lot of money uh cleaning up the interior because it is a big mess in there and the brake issue but it will be fixed I did not destroy this thing I am done it was a once in a-lifetime opportunity to have that mud pit in my yard and actually the engine's right here but the the car wizard is over over here playing with my Maserati engine wizard what are you trying to get my fist out of this thing what what are you doing fisting a dead Maserati engine isn't that what you're supposed to do is it like a Chinese finger trap you just sort of dang look at it had had me pretty tight in there the academy award goes to the car wizard for finger trapping himself in a Maserati V6 but uh things do get done here even though I walk in and wizard is always doing something interesting something weird yeah so yes um the new engine for the Land Rover is over here yes and a lot of people were saying well why don't you just throw a head gasket in it why don't you just fix that motor and wizard is not really interested in taking on things like that no and also the fact that it has 5 gallons of stop leak all through the whole engine and yeah the Dropout engine was $4,000 shipped that was more than we thought it was going to be unfortunately uh the Maserati engine still hasn't arrived yet the replac one that I've ordered uh well we're almost a month waiting on this engine from this salvage yard that is behind apparently dropping out engines but this one was instant so well if you kind of run the numbers if you think about it if we take the head off we're not going to put your old timing chains and your old parts and your old stuff back on it mhm fixing the head gasket getting the machine work done you could be at 3 or four grand just to do that it's not much more you can just replace the whole engine be done there's no there's no questions about this it's done it's one in and done right this is a drop in with a 90-day warranty sometimes an engine is bad in the salvage yard and it's becoming more common nowadays because people are getting behind on their payments or their car is kind of broken and they're getting behind on their payments so they kind of crashed into a tree to make the insurance claim so there's a lot of bad cars in the salvage yard for that reason uh but hopefully that's not the case because head gasket issues very common on these 2 L Fords all over the place with the Ford Fiestas and everything else and someone had the bright idea of doing like a a Focus RS or St Fiesta ST swap you know with it but no amazingly there's enough different on this engine that the the actual Ford engine won't just direct swap there's a lot of brackets and things that are different right so you will make the Land Rover eventually better than what it was when I got it and it will be cleaned before it comes back in here uh we have a guy that is going to come out and power wash it and clean it all up so the car wizard doesn't get covered in in pwn scum and everything yeah so it it will be fixed it will be better than it was and sorry for those of you that got offended by the thought of me destroying that magnificent beautiful convertible out there I don't understand what they're upset about we've literally buried cars well people get mad when I do that as well but it's always cars that were mechanically total that weren't worth saving but yeah uh it is what it is yeah but the normal stuff continues so the Buick Grand National is up here for a normal oil service and then the uh T-top seals which I left off all winter the t-tops and that seemed to finally do in the uh seals themselves yeah we have all new gaskets ordered for the T-top and you can see here they're just not even sealing anymore right I think when I left it off it sort of expanded enough and now it's not squishing because it's just not malleable anymore really hard seals so the whistling is pretty bad it's it's much quieter now with the te- tops off so that's kind of annoying but otherwise it's been a really solid vehicle good and like I said the Maserati we're still waiting on parts wizard wizard will have a video out soon inventorying all these parts which is just pretty unfreaking believable it is it's crazy yeah but uh I see the GT500 which you uh took from me in exchange for uh not paying some bills so have you done any more work to it uh I've cleaned it up we actually got a brand new clutch of a cloud twin disc clutch in it the old one was it was slipping and it was stiff and Mrs W's going to be driving it so a little bit easier little bit easier clutch but it needs to be able to handle all the power too so hopefully it's up to the task but I didn't notice any slipping the old one when we took it off off it was discolored in blue and there was hot spots on the flywheel it was it was slipping at some point I didn't it was I think it was before you going to say I wasn't that abusive with that one a few donuts and things but no uh slippy dippy of the clutch so yeah the 456 is in its final phases I guess of repairs there's nothing really left to do other than a few test runs the test runs we're chasing a possible small ground issue for a wire but other than that it runs and dries perfect awesome well and Daniel's definitely in his happy place yes he's surrounded in Ferraris yeah the Ferrari 360 and then the tester Roa and that's actually the tester Roa from uh the person I bought the two Lamborghinis from the one I bought my Kosh from so saw this sitting in there years ago and it hasn't moved in four years so finally he's getting it out of mothballs I guess you'll do an in-depth video on it I assume soon right yep danielson's going to go Bumper to Bumper is I say on this thing it's going to be expensive but the the owner very apologetic he's like I'm sad that it got this way but hey I'm ready to pay for it let's get this fixed let's get it right because I want to cruise in this thing well thankfully they've appreciated a lot in recent years to where the investment is worth it because back when these were you know $4 or $50,000 a lot of them became this way yeah it's really cool to see one sadly I bought mine years ago when they were still cheap but then sent it back because of a title issue and now I've completely missed the boat but uh still have plenty of fine hoop including the Land Rover Range Rover Evoke which will be fixed it is a wonderful car yeah thank you so much for watching\n"
