Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally is ready to rip down the dirt roads!

Ford Just Revealed a Pretty Awesome New Version of the Mustang Machiave: A Rally Special That Will Stick Around for Longer

In an exciting move, Ford has just revealed a new version of the Mustang Machiave that leans into a trend thought to be finished. The Factory Safari style builds are sticking around, and this new model is going to be a production car that you can buy. Not just a concept special one-off, but a real thing that will hit the roads soon.

The Ford Mustang Machi rally was revealed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which is a pretty proper place to show off such a car. The details on this new model are still scarce, but from the pictures and videos available, we can get an idea of what to expect. The mock e rally looks to sit a bit higher than the standard car, with a pretty sweet rear spoiler out back. The wheels look the part and are wearing nice knobby tires, giving it a rugged off-road vibe.

The lower fascia and side sills look quite a bit more aggressive, which adds to the overall rally car aesthetic. And what's even cooler is the presence of a tow hook on the nose of this thing - a nod to its rally heritage. Inside the cabin, the front seats look similar to the ones on the Mach e GT performance Edition, but with a bit more sporting style to the back of them, highlighting this new model.

Ford enlisted the help of M sport team driver Ott Tänak, who won the World Rally Championship in 2019 and has also won rally Sweden this year. He's currently in a tight battle for the second place spot on the drivers' rankings for this season, and will run the car up the Goodwood Hill to test its mettle.

The Ford Mustang Mach e rally will be made available to order later this fall, but there's still no word on price or performance. However, based on speculation, it's likely that the powertrain setup will be similar to what's in the mock EGT or GT performance, which means we can expect at least 480 horsepower and up to 634 pound-feet of torque. Unfortunately, this also means a hefty price tag - the GT starts over $60,000, and adding the performance package pushes it into six-figure territory.

It's cool that Ford is making a car like this - Factory-built rally specials are a rare thing, and I'm always a sucker for them. There's something about the idea of a production car being built specifically for rally racing that just gets me excited. Whether it's the gr Corolla on the lower end of the spectrum or the truly insane Porsche 911 Dakar and Lamborghini Sián at the top, there's just something special about cars like this.

It's also worth noting that Subaru needs to hurry up and give us a fresh WRX STI - we've been waiting for what feels like forever. But in any case, it's cool to see another option in the rally bread space, and I have to imagine it will be quite a thrill to send the Ford Mustang Machi rally slinging sideways down a gravel road. Hopefully, there's some extra underbody protection for the battery to make sure it can handle the rigors of rally racing.

That's all for now - we'll have to wait until later this fall to get our hands on the Ford Mustang Mach e rally and see just how good it is.
