Welcome to the Honda Stand at the Paris 2014 Motor Show
As we stand here at the Honda stand at the Paris 2014 Motor Show, it's hard not to feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. It feels like we've been waiting for what feels like an eternity to see more details about the upcoming Civic Type R concepts. And now, we're finally here, and it's absolute perfection.
The car looks stunning, with its bold blue and red paintwork catching our eye immediately. But what really sets this car apart is the attention to detail in its design. You can see various Arrow-like elements, such as those little upright foils down there, which add a touch of sophistication and elegance to the overall design. And then, of course, there's the big rear wing – it just seems to get more extraordinary every time we see it, particularly with the upward struts that give it a truly menacing look.
But what really gets our engines revving is the power under the bonnet. This car is powered by a turbocharged 2.0 L VTEC engine, which is a nod to Honda's heritage of producing high-revving engines. And this one still manages to rev up to 7,000 RPM – that red line is definitely not for the faint of heart! The car also comes equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox, which will undoubtedly provide drivers with plenty of opportunities to get their hands dirty.
One thing that's particularly impressive about this car is its braking capabilities. With 275 brake horsepower as the minimum figure we're expecting (and potentially even more!), there's no doubt that this car can stop on a dime. And behind that rear wing, you can see Brembo brake calipers doing their thing – it's clear that Honda has put a lot of thought into making sure this car handles like a dream.
But what really sets the Civic Type R apart is its clever features. For example, there's an "R+ Button" that allows drivers to press and activate fully adaptive damping, which will stiffen or soften the suspension depending on driving conditions. And if you press that button, not only does the steering become more responsive, but the engine mapping also goes into its most aggressive mode – it's like having a supercomputer at your fingertips!
Of course, we're still not sure what the final price tag for this car will be – our estimates put it around £330,000. But we can't help but feel that Honda is going to make a real splash with this one. And if they do manage to lap the Ring in front-wheel drive, that would be an incredible achievement. As always, we're excited to hear from you and get your thoughts on what we've seen so far.
A Look Behind the Scenes: Honda's Return to F1
As we take a look around the Honda stand at the Paris 2014 Motor Show, one thing becomes clear – Honda is back in F1, and they're not messing around. Just over there, you can see the RA271, Honda's first F1 car since 1964. It's a stunning piece of machinery that's sure to turn heads.
One of the things that really gets our hearts racing about this car is its engine. This isn't just any engine – it's a turbocharged V12 that's been mounted transversely. And let me tell you, it looks absolutely beautiful. Those exhaust pipes coming up over the top of the engine are like something out of a dream world. It's clear that Honda has put a lot of love and care into this car.
But what really puts the icing on the cake is the history behind this car. When it was in action with McLaren back in 1988, they had an incredibly successful season – 15 wins and 16 podiums! That must have been an incredible experience for the drivers and team members involved.
Of course, we can't help but wonder what the future holds for Honda's return to F1. If they're having a fantastic season next year, will their car be as dominant as it was back in the day? We can only wait and see – but one thing's for sure: Honda is back, and they're not going to mess around.
