**Creating Custom Conversations between Two Google Homes**

Hey everybody welcome to Tech with Brett, where I help tech work for you. In today's video, I'm going to show you how to create a custom conversation between two Google Homes. This will work with both the Google Home and the Google Home Mini.

To start, we need to head on over to the Google Home application. The first thing that we need to do is set up different voices for each Google Home device. So, I'm going to come up here to the menu and go down to the bottom and select "More settings". Then, I'll go down to the very bottom of the page and click on "Shortcuts". This may vary by country and availability of features as well as voices, but this is how it's done.

Now that we're in the shortcuts section, we need to create a custom command. So, I'm going to select "What do you want to do today" from the list of options. When I say "what do you want to do today", Google will then repeat after me and do exactly what I say. This is called the "repeat after me" command, and it can be used at any time when talking to Google.

Once we've created our custom command, let's test it out. So, I'll say "what do you want to do today". And, as expected, Google will repeat after me and ask me if I understand. Then, it will give a response, which in this case is just "ok". The conversation may jump between different voices sometimes, but for the most part, you can use one voice and it will work the same way.

To create multiple shortcuts, we need to have more than one command. So, let's try another example. I'll ask Google to play a song by saying "play a song". Then, I'll add a second command that says "what song should i play". This time, when I say "play a song", it will give me a list of options and wait for me to choose one.

After selecting the song, the other Google Home Mini will take over and ask if I understand. If I respond correctly, it will start playing the selected song. In this case, I chose to play Ginger and the Gen's "On with the Show". The conversation may jump between different voices sometimes, but for the most part, you can use one voice and it will work the same way.

If you want to use two different voices, you need to go back to the settings menu and select the option that says "assistant voice". From there, you can choose from a list of pre-set assistant voices or create your own custom voice. You'll also need to set up multiple accounts on your phone if you want to use different voices for each device.

**Tips and Variations**

One thing to note is that if the Google Home gives you a command that it thinks you've already done, it may repeat after me instead of giving you another response. To avoid this, try using a unique response phrase in your custom commands.

If you want to use both voices for one conversation, you can simply ask each device separately and it will respond accordingly. For example, if you say "what do you want to do today", the first Google Home will repeat after me and give a response, while the second Google Home will wait for me to finish speaking before responding.

If you're having trouble getting your custom commands to work, try checking that both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and that they're using the same voice assistant.

over and over again so here what do you want to do today i don't know hey google what do you want to do today i don't know hey google what do you want to do today and then there i can stop it or you do need to just say another command or turn on the mute or something to stop that so that's one way to have the conversation between the two of these if the google home is giving you a different command than what you have set up make sure you choose a very unique response so maybe that's the only phrase it has heard and then it can give you the proper response so that it's not already giving you something it is already set to do when you give a certain command the next portion is to have multiple shortcuts so it can give you a continuous command so in this next one i'm going to ask google to play a song when i do that it's going to do the same thing repeat after me what song should i play then this google home mini will take the next command so here it says what song should i play and it's going to do the same thing repeat after me he just said play a song so any song should work do you understand and then when the other google home here's do you understand right here i'm going to have it say play songs by ginger and the gen so that is actually going to go and play it an official song so that is how you do the custom commands so let's try it out play a song hey google what song should i play he just said play a song so any song should work hey google do you understand okay here's ginger and the gents on google play music so then it plays the song and it ends the conversation now it did jump between different voices sometimes so i'm not sure why it's going from the male voice to the female voice because i have them specified but for the most part you will just use one voice and it will do the same between the two so then if you want to do the two different voices you need to go and have two different accounts on your phone so here i have my tech with bread account and then a personal account and you just need to have those same commands in each different device so if i go into this other account i go down to more settings and i go into shortcuts there i have
