The Release of New iPad Pro Models is Expected to Bring Significant Upgrades
This year, Apple is expected to release new iPad Pro models that will boast smaller and larger versions, similar to last year's lineup. However, these upcoming tablets are rumored to feature newer OLED displays, which will bring deeper blacks, faster refresh rates, and improved contrast. The addition of OLED displays could also result in thinner devices, as they require less material to achieve the same level of brightness and color accuracy.
One of the most significant upgrades is expected to be thin bezels on these new iPad Pro models. While this might not be a major concern for most users, those who prefer to hold their iPads in their hands may find it interesting. In fact, many users tend to dock their iPads on keyboards or at least have them nearby, so the reduction in bezel size could potentially become an issue for some. However, these details are not yet confirmed and are subject to change.
The front-facing camera is also expected to remain unchanged, with Apple opting to keep the same design as last year's model. While this might be disappointing for some users, it's likely that the camera will still receive significant improvements in terms of image quality and functionality.
Rumors have been circulating about a potential glass back for the iPad Pro, which could enable wireless charging and MagSafe technology. However, these details are not yet confirmed and should be taken with caution.
New Accessories Are Rumored to Be Part of the Launch
Apple is also expected to release new accessories alongside the updated iPad Pro models. One of the most significant upgrades is a revised magic keyboard that will feature a more laptop-like design. Mark German has revealed that the keyboard will retain a Silicon cover material, which was previously used on current models. However, this change is seen as an attempt by Apple to address criticisms of the current exterior shell.
The new keyboard is expected to be available in aluminum, similar to the top case of MacBooks, providing a more sturdier structure. This design choice may help to alleviate some of the criticisms surrounding the current model's exterior shell. However, German has also hinted that this upgrade could result in higher prices for the keyboard, as Apple incorporates more premium materials.
The Trackpad Is Expected to Be Bigger on These New iPad Pro Models
One aspect that is sure to improve with these new iPad Pro models is the trackpad. Rumors have it that the trackpads will be significantly larger than current versions, which could provide a much better user experience. The addition of this feature would help to bring consistency between the iPad and MacBook lines, making it easier for users to switch between devices.
A Third-Generation Apple Pencil Is on the Horizon
There have been rumors circulating about a new generation of Apple Pencils, with some reports suggesting that code in iOS 17.5 refers to a fourth-generation model (V4). However, this might be referring to the USBC model as V3. It's more likely that we'll see a third-generation Apple Pencil, which could feature a new squeeze gesture for quicker input and editing.
The squeeze gesture could provide users with a faster way to add stickers, text boxes, or signatures in image editing apps. This upgrade is particularly welcome, as Vision Pro desperately needs a better way of inputting text and navigating the UI. The Apple Pencil could potentially play a significant role in this regard, but it remains to be seen whether future models will support the headset.
The Launch Date Is Approaching
New iPads are expected to be released within the next two weeks, with rumors surrounding these upcoming models being widely reported. While there's still much uncertainty surrounding the exact specifications and features of these devices, one thing is clear: Apple is pushing the boundaries of what we expect from its iPad lineup.
It's time for users to share their thoughts on these new iPad Pro models and whether they're planning to upgrade. In the comments section below, please let us know your thoughts on the upcoming iPad releases and what you'd like to see in terms of upgrades and improvements.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: ennew iPads are finally coming no for real this time I I know we've said that a lot but we don't need to speculate any longer or at least speculate on when because Apple has officially announced an online event set to take place on May 7th at 7:00 a.m. Pacific 10:00 a.m. eastern now usually I like to look at the event invites and dissect and see what kind of information we can gather from it and see what kind of hints there are uh but it's someone holding an apple pencil which uh very much implies iPads and potentially a new Apple pencil there have been rumors surrounding four new iPads a new magic keyboard that's been redesigned and a new Apple pencil so let's go over what we can expect to see from Apple at the let loose event on May 7th so starting with the iPad Air for the first time we're expecting two new models an 11 and 12.9 in iPad Air with the latter being the newest model to the air lineup now the most recent rumors surrounding these new larger 12.9 in iPad Air models is that we expect the display to actually come with a good upgrade a mini LED display display like what we have on the current 12.9 in iPad Pro is expected to be on the iPad Air according to display analyst Ross young Ross has said that the 12.9 in iPad Air will be using leftover mini LED display panels from the 12.9 in iPad pros and he touted the lower power consumption as another benefit now because Apple didn't put uh mini LED displays in the 11-in model it's unlikely that the smaller air is going to get mini LED displays because there's no leftover stock from it uh so it's more than likely going to be uh equipped with an LCD panel like what we have now we're also expecting these iPads to look and feel roughly the same with a few noticeable improvements like the M2 Chip for improved performance and the possibility of a landscape oriented front-facing camera now how Apple plans to do this is unclear since the second generation apple pencil connects to both the iPad Air and the iPad Pro using an inductive magnetic charger along the same side so on top of the iPad Pro or the iPad Air you I don't know how they're going to fit the camera in there is basically what we're saying but either way I'm really hoping that this happens for both iPad Air and iPad Pro because the camera just needs to be in that landscape orientation especially on those larger iPads it just doesn't make any sense to be looking off to the left when you're on a video call when most of the time your larger iPad is going to be in that horizontal landscape orientation now before we get into the iPad Pros I do want to throw things over to Dan wearing a different shirt to tell you about today's sponsor keeper ever wish you could just get rid of passwords forever don't we all luckily pass keys are here and they're bringing us one step closer to a passwordless future keeper security the password manager that I use and of course the sponsor of today's video now supports pass keys on iPhone and Android keeper also supports pass keys in their browser extension which means with keeper you can create and use both passwords and pass Keys across any of your devices pasis let you log into Apps and accounts the same way you would unlock your phone with your fingerprint or facial recognition and they're super secure they're fishing resistant and support two Factor authentication by Design it's kind of wild to me that people in 2024 still don't use the password manager and if you're one of those people I highly recommend signing up for keeper and you can do so by clicking the link in the description down below for a free 30-day trial or you can use code Mac Rumors 50 for a 50% off discount and I highly recommend doing so and of course thank you so much keeper for sponsoring today's video we're also expecting two new iPad Pro Models we'll have either an 11 in or 11.1 or a 13in 13.1 could be 12.9 rumors are kind of unclear but you'll have a smaller version and a larger version just like we do this year but this time we'll have new OLED displays which will bring deeper blacks faster refresh rates and improved contrast and could even be thinner than the previous models due to these new OLED displays and we're also expecting thin bezels as well which will be kind of interesting for those who like to hold their iPads but most of us kind of dock it on a keyboard or at least I do I don't know about most people let me know in the comments down below how you use your larger 12.9in iPad do you hold it a lot would smaller bezels become an issue for you of course I would love to hear from you down in those comments but we are expecting these new iPad Pros to feature the same front-facing camera that was rumored and the one that I just talked about for the iPad Air again how they're going to put it in that orientation there is unclear with the whole apple pencil situation but uh we're also expecting this to have the M3 chip since that is the latest and greatest silicon from Apple and the M2 will go to the iPad Air now there have been some other kind of crazy is rumors out there of like maybe a glass back for the wireless charging mag safe charging of the iPad Pro uh but perhaps one of the more intriguing aspect of this launch for me are the new accessories that are being rumored alongside these new iPad so we're expecting the revamped iPad Pro Models to be accompanied by a refresh version of the magic keyboard that Mark German has said would be more laptop-like than the current setup German has also gone on to reveal that the area around the keyboard itself will apparently be made up of aluminum resembling the top case of MacBooks to provide a more sturdier structure now Apple hopes that these changes will address some of the criticisms of the current model which really my biggest criticism is the exterior shell and unfortunately the exterior shell of the keyboard will retain the Silicon cover material used on the current model and a single USBC port and I wish there was kind of more USBC Port options available maybe just one extra one now German has also said that because of Apple using more premium materials and this being a little bit different uh Apple could raise the price of the keyboard which would be unfortunate because it's already really expensive now I was really hoping for the entire thing to be made of a different material because as I said I don't love that silicone material that it just doesn't hold up well over time at least mine doesn't with the white one it's very prone to catching some like black marks on there if you have anything with red I've got some red scuffs on it and just from throwing it in my backpack with a book in there and just like another MacBook or something in there it's not really like cutting into it but it's just leaving these weird scuffs all over it I just don't love that material at all but one thing I do want to talk about is that the trackpad is actually expecting to be much bigger on these new ones which is good because the trackpads are laughably small compared to the MacBook Air and the Pro Models and it just doesn't feel as good I'm hoping that Apple can bring that consistency on down from the MacBook airon Pro with the trackpad all the way to the magic keyboard and lastly as far as the apple pencil goes a third generation apple pencil could be on the horizon here even though code in iOS 17.5 has been referring to a new version a V4 of the apple pencil the USBC model apparently counts in Apple's world as V3 uh but in terms of the generation and most likely the naming this should be the third generation apple pencil and this could come with a new squeeze gesture though we don't really know a lot about it but the squeeze gesture May provide users with a quicker way to add a sticker text box signature or a shape in an image editing app there have been rumors around magnetic interchangeable tips and future apple pencil versions could support apple Vision Pro and vision OS though it's unclear if this new model coming in May would be the one to support the headset either way Vision Pro desperately needs another way of inputting text and navigating throughout the UI in my opinion and the apple pencil could be a really cool and useful F way to achieve this but of course I would love to hear from you in the comments down below finally it looks like new iPads are about to happen anytime now well in the next two weeks and uh I would love to hear from you in the comments down below
