Wireless Charging Case for AirPods review - $80 for....!

Should You Consider Upgrading Your First Gen AirPods Wired Charging Case to the New Wireless Charging Case?

If you're one of the many users who own first gen AirPods and are looking to upgrade to a wireless charging experience, then this review is for you. In this article, we'll be taking a closer look at Apple's new wireless charging case for first gen AirPods, which promises to bring a more convenient and modern charging experience to your beloved earbuds.

The Bad News: Air Power has Been Cancelled

Unfortunately, the news is not all good when it comes to this new wireless charging case. The feature that was touted as one of the main reasons for its release - AirPower - has been cancelled due to development problems. This means that if you were looking forward to being able to charge multiple devices at once on a single charging mat, with full iOS integration, you'll be disappointed to know that it's no longer happening.

What You Can Expect from the Wireless Charging Case

So, what can you expect from this standalone wireless charging case? The answer is simple: wireless charging. That's right, this case is designed specifically for first gen AirPods and allows them to be charged wirelessly using any Qi-enabled charger. While it may not offer the same level of convenience as having your earbuds charge multiple devices at once, it still provides a convenient and modern charging experience.

Is It Worth Upgrading?

So, should you consider upgrading your first gen AirPods with this new wireless charging case? The answer is complex. On one hand, if you're someone who loves wireless charging and has multiple devices to charge around the house, then this case may be a great option for you. However, if you're looking for a reason to upgrade beyond just the wireless charging capabilities, you may want to consider other options.

One thing that's worth noting is that there are no new features outside of wireless charging offered by this case. You won't get any of the advanced features like the new H1 chip with hands-free Siri or longer talktime, faster device switching, and more. So, if those features are important to you, then you may want to consider a different option.

The Price: $80

So, how much will this wireless charging case cost? The answer is $80, which may seem like a lot of money for just wireless charging capabilities. However, when you consider that you can get a whole new pair of AirPods for around the same price (although they won't be first gen), it starts to look like a more reasonable option.

Who Is This Case For?

So, who is this wireless charging case designed for? The answer is first gen AirPods owners who want to upgrade to wireless charging capabilities. It's not necessarily designed for those who have newer models of AirPods or prefer other charging methods.

If you're one of the many users who own first gen AirPods and are looking for a convenient and modern charging experience, then this case may be worth considering. However, if you're looking for more advanced features or a different type of earbuds, then you may want to explore other options.

jeff benjamin with the nine-to-five mac this is the wireless charging case for earpods a standalone option for those of you with first gen ear pods who want to upgrade to a wireless charging experience now the bad news is that air power which is awkwardly advertised on the back of the box has been cancelled due to problems with development so that is a huge disappointment it sort of rains on the parade of the new air pods because that was one of the main reasons why I was interested in the new air pods in the new wireless charging case because of air power and being able to charge multiple devices at once on that charging mat with full iOS integration that seemed awesome unfortunately it's no longer happening so you really gonna have to think about whether or not it's worth upgrading your 1st Jin air pods because really that's the only reason well not the only reason but it's one of the main reasons why you would consider buying this standalone charging case because there's no air pods inside here at all it's just a charging case that lends wireless charging capability to the 1st gen air pods now of course there are other reasons why you might consider purchasing this maybe you lost your original charging case or maybe the charging case battery is no longer performing well those are reasons why you might consider a prating but to be honest this thing is really aimed at at least initially first gen earPod owners who want to upgrade to wireless charging capability so once you open it up you see there's nothing inside because that's where you put your first chin ear pods so since you're literally just trans planning your first Jin air pods into this new wireless charging case you're not getting any of the new features from the second gen air pots this adds no new features outside of wireless charging so keep that in mind so you're not getting new features like that new H one chip with hands-free Siri longer talktime faster device switching none of that if you're a first gen earpods owner and you purchase the wireless charging case the only thing you're gonna be getting is wireless charging in depending on your needs that could be perfectly fine there could be exactly what you want you're gonna pay $80 for the privilege though but like I said if maybe your battery's dead or you lost your original charging case that's still cheaper than buying a whole new pair of ear pods which started a hundred and sixty bucks and you get wireless charging which works with any Qi enabled charger like this one from Nomad which isn't as cool as air power but probably is the closest thing to it but in my opinion if you're just buying this for the wireless charging capabilities you would have to really be invested in wireless charging you would have to have multiple wireless charges around the house perhaps you do or maybe you have something like that Nomad charger which is able to charge multiple devices simultaneously the point is you really have to love wireless charging if that's the only reason you would upgrade your first unit ear pods with this new wireless charging case for 80 bucks what do you guys think would you consider upgrading your
