Samsung Galaxy Note 3 World's first phone with USB 3.0 & Speed Test USB3 vs USB2

**Unlocking the Potential of USB 3 on Your Samsung Galaxy Note 3**

To understand the capabilities of USB 3 on your Samsung Galaxy Note 3, it's essential to first grasp what makes it different from its standard counterpart. While theoretically, USB 3 is about 10 times faster than USB 2, in practice, this speed advantage translates to around a 3-6x increase in transfer speeds.

The key to unlocking the full potential of USB 3 on your Galaxy Note 3 lies in using the correct cable. The phone comes with a special micro-USB cable designed specifically for USB 3 connections. This cable is wider than standard micro-USB cables and allows for faster data transfer. However, it's worth noting that older USB cables may not work properly with this feature.

To test the capabilities of USB 3 on your Galaxy Note 3, we'll first attach the phone to a computer with a USB 3 port using the special cable. Upon connecting, the device will be detected and prompt for the user to enable the "USB 3" option. Enabling this setting allows for faster data transfer and indicates that the device is capable of utilizing its full potential.

**Testing the Transfer Speed**

To put the capabilities of USB 3 on our Galaxy Note 3 to the test, we'll transfer a 2 GB file from the computer to the phone using both USB 3 and USB 2 connections. We'll time each transfer to see how much faster the USB 3 connection is.

First, let's use the special USB 3 cable that comes with the Galaxy Note 3. As soon as we connect it to the computer, the device detects the connection and displays "USB 3 speeds up data transfer." With this setting enabled, we'll start the file transfer and observe how quickly it completes. Moving a large file from the computer to the phone using USB 3 results in an impressive completion time of approximately 31 seconds.

Next, let's disconnect the special cable and connect the Galaxy Note 3 using a standard micro-USB cable – this is actually a USB 2 cable that came with our Samsung Galaxy S4. We'll perform the same file transfer using both connections to compare their performance.

Upon connecting the phone to the computer using the standard USB 2 cable, we notice that the file transfer takes significantly longer. It appears that transferring large files via USB 2 is almost twice as slow as using the USB 3 connection. This highlights the significant speed advantage of utilizing a USB 3-enabled device and its corresponding cable.

**Conclusion**

In conclusion, unlocking the full potential of USB 3 on your Samsung Galaxy Note 3 requires the use of the special micro-USB cable that comes with the phone. By enabling the "USB 3" option and using this cable, you can significantly increase the transfer speeds of large files between your device and a computer.

The results of our test demonstrate that transferring large files via USB 3 is approximately twice as fast as using the standard USB 2 connection. While smaller file transfers may not benefit from the increased speed, larger file transfers will indeed see significant improvements when utilizing USB 3 technology.

For those looking to experience the full capabilities of their Galaxy Note 3's USB 3 port, we recommend investing in the special micro-USB cable and enabling the "USB 3" setting on your device. By doing so, you can unlock faster data transfer speeds and enjoy a more efficient mobile experience.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi there this is ranit and in this video we're going to look at the usb3 features on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is the first mobile phone in the world to have this USB 3 support and the thing with USB 3 is that it's actually theoretically 10 times faster than usb2 uh standard but I have tested a lot of usb3 equipment and then they generally perform between 3x to 6X faster uh for transfers compared to USB 2 and to use usb3 features you need to use the special uh micro USB cable that is USB 3 cable that came with the Note 3 and also you have to make sure that your PC has usb3 support my PC has that so we'll test it with it and we'll also test it and see how it Compares if you connect your Note 3 via usb2 Port so let's check that out and before we proceed let me show you the USB 3 cable this is the USB 3 cable that comes with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and let's have a closer look at that and as you can see it's pretty wide compared to the normal micro USB cable that we get with General phones uh the thing is that uh you can even plug in this older type of uh USB cable in the Note 3 you need to insert it but again you'll have only USB 2 uh speeds and here we have our uh Note 3 and I have attached the other end of the cable to my usb3 port on my computer and we're going to attach this one now and it should be detected and as you can see it says connected what you you need to do is scroll down and click on this one connect as media device we don't want to do that and as you can see it says media device usb3 and you need to enable that option and it gives us the info USB 3 speeds up the data transfer but it may sometimes interfere with calls or data when in use it will turn off automatically after 10 minutes if it's not being used to USB 2 but we'll enable it USB 3 and we are connected and now let me move to the computer and move a file and let's see how quickly it does that and uh this folder is our computer local computer and this folder is our Note 3 and we're going to transfer a 2 gig file from a computer to the uh Note 3 and we're going to time it so let's go to the pictures folder and I have this 2 gig file and I'm just going to transfer it and I'll just say just copy it and let's start and as you can see it's copying let me just zoom in a little bit and let's see how much time does it take it's a 2 gig file again USB 3 won't make a big difference if you uh uploading or downloading small files but if you do transfer a lot of big files it should make a significant difference and as you can see it's been about 25 seconds it's going to be done almost now and it's done so it took 31 seconds using the USB 3 and let's try it using now USB 2 and now what we have done is replace the USB 3 cable with the USB 2 cable uh this is the USB 2 cable that I got with my Samsung Galaxy S4 and now we going to do the same transfer and see how it affects us and now have connect the node 3 y USB 2 cable and we're going to do the same thing and transfer this 2 gig file and uh we'll time it so I just move it and I just say copy and let's start so it's transferring the file and make sure that you connect your USB cable directly to your computer if you're using a extender or something uh generally uh it does not work I have connected directly to the computer and uh looks like it's going to take a lot more time it's a 2 gig file with USB 3 uh with uh within 31 seconds it was done so it looks like uh it's almost 2x faster as of now again as I told if you move a lot of content uh gigs and gigs of content from your phone this USB 3 will be a lot faster so it's 54 seconds that one was 31 seconds and it should be done anytime now and it's done done so 1 minute 3 seconds so almost the USB uh 3 transfer are 2x faster compared to the usb2 transfers on the Note 3 so that's it for now for this USB 3 versus USB 2 on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 I'll also be making a lot more videos on the Note 3 and I'll also be doing a full in-depth review for the Note 3 so if you aren't subscribed to my YouTube channel subscribe to the same that's it for now this is Ranjit and I hope to see you
