**AIO Digital Thunderbolt 3 Cable**
From aidio and it is about a foot and a half in length now I'm not complaining I do appreciate the fact that there is a cable included inside the box but a lot of you including myself find that these cables just aren't long enough for practical applications for instance with the aido node or the aido Thunder 3 those devices had to be really close to my MacBook Pro because this cable is only what foot and a half right so that's where the folks over at Cow Digit have come in to save the day. So, C digit sent over two Thunderbolt 3 cables one is a 1 M cable right here and the other is a 2 m cable right here so these are much longer than a lot of the stock cables that are included Ed with today's Thunderbolt 3 accessories.
**Cable Features**
So you can see right here now the nice thing about these cables is that they are certified by Intel and they meet the full Thunderbolt 3 spec so you get 40 Gbits per second bandwidth and you also get 100 Watts USB power delivery so these cables are going to be able to work in pretty much any application you throw them in. Here's the 2 meter cable let's go ahead and open it up okay so here it is so the first thing that I notice about these cables is that they are very thick which indicates to me that they're going to be fairly durable going to be able to stand up to excessive use in wear and tear uh so as you can see this is a very long Thunderbolt 3 cable I mean it's really long 2 m long uh so that's going to probably fit pretty much 99% of the applications out out there.
**Testing the Cable**
I can actually have my um aido node for instance across the room almost and still have it connected to my MacBook Pro I can even use this with the LG ultra fine 5K display although that display itself includes a very long Thunderbolt 3 cable so I won't need it for that particular application but it's just nice to have a thunderbolt 3 cable that is this long and that complies with the Intel spec. So, you're going to get again 40 Gbits per second and you're going to get full USB power delivery up to 100 Watts so let's test this thing out right now. Here we have two caldigit Thunderbolt 3 cables side by side this is the smaller uh5 M cable this comes packed in to the TS3 light and this one is the standard long cable that we just unwrapped it is the 2 m long cable and you can see a noticeable difference here between the length of the termination points where the USBC connector uh rests at the end this one is much larger than this one that's because this is an active cable and it has integrated circuitry in there.
**Cable Quality**
So overall both cables are similar but you'll notice that just small little details where the Standalone cable seems to be a little bit higher in quality than the packin cable okay so let's test the cable out by connecting it to my 2016 13-in MacBook Pro okay so I have the caldigit 2 m Thunderbolt 3 cable connected to my MacBook Pro and that's going directly to the LG ultrafine 5K display so let's go into to system information on Mac OS and check out some details first of all we're going to check out the power now as mentioned this cable is capable of delivering up to 100 Watts of power so as you can see here it is going to be able to charge the 13 or 15-in MacBook Pro with no problem at full speed.
**Display Connection**
Now here's something else to consider you're going to get the full resolution when connected to the LG ultrafine 5K display so it's connected running at 5120 x 2880 I have it in pixel double mode and it's just really nice to have a cable that's this long that can deliver the full 40 Gbits per second data transfer and provides up to 100 Watts of power over the cable that is a very nice thing to have. So, for instance I can have the aido Thunder 3 external GPU connected to my MacBook Pro with the 2 m cable and I can have it far away from my MacBook Pro so if the fan noise bothers me I can keep it away from my setup.
**Conclusion**
So, ladies and gentlemen Cow digits Thunderbolt 3 cable works very well you can find it for about $50 for the 1 M cable and a little bit higher than that for the 2 m cable let me know what you guys think in the comments this is Jeff with 9 to 5 Mac
