I'm so excited to share with you my TBR list for 2024! As you know, I've been a bit slacking on reading lately, but I'm determined to get back into the habit. Here are the books that I'd like to read this year.
First up is "No Peace Until Milford" by Tanaz Bhathena. She discovers the roots of her identity and unearths a family hidden nope, read that wrong - a family secret hidden since the Revolution and it's like back and forth - I assume between Havana in is it Havana or Havana - I'm sorry but between there in 1958 and Miami in 2017 - and I just love back and forth stories where you're getting like a well-rounded look at everything so I'm looking forward to this one next. The author's writing style always draws me in, and I've heard great things about this book.
Another one that caught my eye is "The Bandit Queen" by Pini Shah. This came out at the beginning of 2023, and everyone at my work was talking about it so I got myself a copy and then I just kind of like lost track of time and the hype for it and never ended up actually getting to read it but it sounds really good - I know so many people at my work were really interested in it and that has made me very interested in it. The book's concept is intriguing, with a woman accused of murdering her husband, but instead she claims she didn't do it.
I'm also looking forward to reading "Princess of Souls" by Alexander Cristo. This is by the author of what was it called Kingdom of kingdom of something Kingdom - there are so many books with Kingdom in their title! I did really like that one when I read it, but now this one I believe is a Rapunzel retelling - could be wrong, I'm pretty sure it's a retelling of something. Having enjoyed her first book so much, I'm excited to dive into another one.
Next up is "Babble" by RF Quang. This never seemed like the kind of book that I would read, to be honest - I know it was very popular, like a year ago, when everyone was reading it and loving it and raving about it, but I was just like I don't know because I was definitely stuck in a mindset of only reading YA at that point. Now I mostly read adult books, but Babble is one that I just haven't delved into yet because it's very big and it seems like a daunting story, however the concept does actually seem like something I would like.
I've also got my eye on "Solitaire" by Alice Oman. I haven't read an ALICE Oman book in quite a while now, but I have enjoyed most of the ones that I've read - there was one that we read for the bookmarked book club back in the day that I didn't like at all, but the other books like Heart Stopper love and then why radio silence one of my favorite books really loved it. So Solitaire, which follows Charlie's sister, is a new one to add to my list - I'd love to read more Alice Oman.
Finally, there's "Honey Girl" by Morgan Rogers. I've had this book for so long once again, and it's been on so many TBRs heard amazing things about it, but just haven't gotten to it and I really need to change that. Reading 125 books is my goal for the year, which might seem ambitious, but I'm determined to make it happen.
So those are all 24 of the books that I'd like to read in 2024 - obviously my ambitions for this year are more than 24 books, and I've got a long list of other titles that I'm hoping to get to. But for now, these 24 books will be my focus.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: eneveryone it's Hailey and today I wanted to share the 24 books that I would like to read in 2024 so this definitely seems like a really weird time to be doing this video because it is in fact like almost three months into the year but because I didn't do book mess I didn't get the chance to really talk about my 2024 TBR or anything I kind of talked about my reading goals but I didn't talk about like specific books that I would like to read so I thought this would be a kind of fun little video to do so I just kind of went to my shelves and was like looking at things that I've had for a while or are just kind of sticking out to me and we really have a big mix of books here honestly so that being said let's just dive in this is going to be in no particular order but first here I have the charm offensive by Alison Cochran I've actually included this in a TBR this year already and I just would love to get to it honestly I have heard nothing but amazing things about it it is a male male romance and it's like set on this TV set with this dating show and it's the producer and then I think the main not contestant but you know what I mean like the star I guess of that dating show I'm pretty sure honestly it was one of the books that I just didn't need to really know a lot about it I just knew I had heard amazing things about this romance so it definitely climbed up on my TBR and I obviously since I've already included it on a TBR this year would love to get to it very soon next is actually another romance I promise these aren't all romances but this one is a w contemporary romance and it is the hen Wars by ADBA gadar another book that you definitely have heard me speak about a lot and have included on many a TBR it is a female female romance actually between the two main characters who have rival henna businesses so it's like an enemies to lover sort of thing sounds adorable and I've just heard incredible things about it next is the weight of Blood by Tiffany D Jackson I believe that this is the latest book by Tiffany D Jackson but it's definitely the most recent one that I have that I haven't read yet I have one other I think of hers on my TBR grown I have still that I need to read but I have just really enjoyed all the Tiffany D Jackson books that I have read thus far so I am excited to read something new this seems like kind of more of a Carrie Vibe she usually writes like Thrillers and horror sort of stories so so that's what I'm expecting here but she does such a good job of it honestly that I just can't wait for another like twisty turny book next is the first bright Thing by Jr Dawson I picked this up last summer because I'm just such a sucker for circus stories like the idea of it always has appealed to me which would make you think that I like the night circus but honestly I wasn't really a fan of it but that is besides the point this is about a circus of like Misfits and there's kind of some magic involved here I believe it just sounded right up my alley and I was super super excited when I did pick it up so I feel like it's finally time for me to read it next is station 11 by Emily St John Mandel I'm sure you've heard of this book before probably it is a dystopian story and it got very popular I feel like probably around when it first came out but it's actually by a Canadian author which is really cool and it's kind of like a survivalist sort of thing it does doesn't seem like my general Vibe but I've just heard such amazing things about it that I feel like I need to know what everyone is talking about next is the Underground Railroad by Coulson Whitehead similarly this is a very very popular book it's been out for a little bit now I can't actually remember when it came out but I have just been so intrigued by the idea of this one it's a historical fiction but it's like reimagining the Underground Railroad as like an actual ra railroad it just seems so fascinating and there are a couple other books by this author that I have on my TBR so i' would like to read this one so then I can get to the newer ones I still have not read rule of wolves by Lee bardugo I actually have a couple of sequels on here that it's just shocking that I haven't read yet but this is the sequel to King of scars which came out so many years ago now honestly and I read it and really enjoyed it it is the gisha verse but it's focusing on Nikolai and he is like my favorite character so I was really excited that he's getting his own duy I think it's a duy at least and I really ended up enjoying king of scars so I don't know why it has taken me so long to get to this one I feel like just because it's so big and I don't gener really like bigger books I prefer shorter books because my attention span is only made for shorter books but I feel like listening to the Audi book I would definitely be able to get into this one but since it's a series that I love and like characters that I love I've just been waiting for the perfect time but there really is no perfect time I just need to read it next is another book that I've actually included on a TBR already this year and that is such a fun age by Kylie Reed I have just heard amazing things about this story I know that it's dealing with prejudice and the main character is a black girl who is a babysitter for a white child and there is just this whole like racial profiling case and complete I don't even want to say misunderstanding because that feels like too small of a word but basically Prejudice just leaves her in a terrible situation that she shouldn't be in so I am like nervous to read this book because I feel like it's going to be a very difficult read but I feel like it's going to be a really important one as well I am like looking forward to it but it feels like a weird thing to say when the subject matter is so daunting but you know what I mean next is under the whispering door by TJ Clon I am just super excited to read another TJ cloon story because I'm feeling like it's going to have Whimsy and just be heartwarming and beautiful and I'm hoping that's what I'm going to get here this one I believe it's dealing with death because it says death is only their beginning on the cover so welcome to Sharon I would assume it's Sharon but I'm probably pronouncing that wrong crossing the tea is hot the scones are fresh and the dead are just passing through so it's like this house where people pass through I don't know that seems really intriguing basically just because it's a TJ cloon I was like yes I would like to read this very soon next is crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Quan of course this is such a well-known and popular book even like outside of the book duret this is one of the rare books that you know at least it's not really rare now but what I mean is like it's an OG kind of viral book if you will and there's a movie adaptation I have seen it but I honestly don't remember it because I'm not a big movie person but I would love to read the book because I've been getting so into adult romances I feel like I should read one of like the ogi adult romances on a epic following her whole life and that is very intriguing to me I'm sure that it's going to be really emotional as well and I do love a good emotional read and actually that makes me think of the next book that I have which I will just skip ahead here I also have Pachinko by Menin Lee it makes me think of it because this is also kind of an epic where you were following a character for a very long time and I just love stories like that this one is starting in the early 1900s and it is set in Korea I couldn't remember exactly where it was set that's what I was looking for but I've heard amazing things about this book too so honestly both of these I am super excited for and would love to get to this year like I said I have a couple of books that I really should have read by now on here and that is kingdom of Ash by sah J moss and a court of silver Flames I have not read either of these books yet no Kingdom of Ash has been out for I don't even know how long it's been a very long time but daunting to me and same with this one it's not quite as long of a series but it's just they take so long and they're so like I don't know it's just I build them up in my head so then actually reading them seems like a very difficult thing but maybe I'll do a reading vlog actually where I listen to the audio books for these ones not in the same reading Vlog that would be a lot but if you would be interested in a reading Vlog where I finally finished the Throne of Glass series and this series as well please let me know is it even done there's probably more books coming out because they just keep announcing new books for it for a while but I don't know if now she's moved on to the Crescent City series I read the first one of that one and I wasn't a big fan but next is Firefly Lane by her books that I've read already have just all blown me away so much and became like instant favorites for me that I'm just scared to read anything else I don't want to be let down like I don't want to be disappointed so I'm trying to like go into them with an open mind and not have these huge expectations but it's so hard when she is just such a talented and amazing author so Firefly Lane is a Netflix series as well which I haven't watched the adaptation yet but it is set in 1974 and honestly I don't really know all that much about it except that it was one of her more popular breeds which is why I picked it up but consider this also speaking for the Winter Garden which maybe I'll pick up next actually because I'm kind of in between books right now like it's ironic that I'm doing this that's what I was thinking of next we have something to talk about by Merill Weisner this is once again or Wilner sorry I said that wrong my brain Reddit as not what it says there but this is once lowering that because I just haven't been reading all that much recently I would love to change that because it's just been like instead of listening to an audiobook while I'm doing things I'm just kind of watching TV which is fine but I also would kind of like to just encourage myself to read more because I know it's something that I love so we'll see how this next month goes I'm going to try and like focus on you know getting back into the habit of opening up my Audi book when I'm doing something where I'm like am not really thinking if that makes sense so it's a work in progress but thank you guys so much for watching today's video I hope you enjoyed it let me know if you have read any of these books your thoughts on them which ones I should prioritize and also what 24 or that's a lot your comment would be very long what are like two books that you would really like to read this year they can be old new upcoming whatever but yeah thank you guys once again so much for watching today's video I hope you enjoyed and I will see you in another new one very soon byeeveryone it's Hailey and today I wanted to share the 24 books that I would like to read in 2024 so this definitely Revolution and I think it's like back and forth I assume between Havana in is it Havana or Havana I'm sorry but between there in 1958 and Miami in 2017 and I just love back and forth stories where you're getting like a well-rounded look at everything so I'm looking forward to this one next is the Bandit Queen by Pini shof this came out I think at the beginning of 2023 and everyone at my work was talking about it so I got myself a copy and then I just kind of like lost track of time and the hype for it and never ended up actually getting to read it but it sounds really good I know so many people at my work were really interested in it and that has made me very interested in it I honestly don't even remember what it's about she didn't kill her husband but why not let everyone believe she did intriguing next is Princess of souls by Alexander Cristo this is by the author of what was it called Kingdom of kingdom of something Kingdom there's so many books with Kingdom to kill a kingdom that was a mermaidy story and I did really like that one when I read it but now this one I believe is a Rapunzel retelling I could be wrong I'm pretty sure it's a retelling of something and just having enjoyed her first book so much I'm looking forward to this one as well feel like I've said that a million times but like I said it's you know there are only so many words that I know okay I actually probably know a lot more words than I used to like transition between books but it's just in the moment I forget all of them next is Babble by RF Quang this never seemed like the kind of book that I would read to be honest I know it was very very popular like a year ago I want to say at the end of 2022 is when everyone was reading it and loving it and raving about it but I was just like I don't know because I was definitely stuck in a mindset of only reading ya at that point and now I mostly read adult books to be honest but Babble is one that I just haven't delved into yet because it's very big and it seems like a daunting story however it definitely seems like one that I would love to get into and the concept does actually seem like something I would like next is solitire by Alice Oman I haven't read an ALICE Oman book in quite a while now but I have enjoyed most of the ones that I've read there is one that we read for the bookmarked book club back in the day that I didn't like at all but the other books like Heart Stopper love and then why radio silence one of my favorite books really loved it so Solitaire I believe might actually be connected to Heart Stopper I think it's the same characters I don't actually know oh yeah it is okay so it's following Charlie's sister so that's awesome but yeah I don't know anything else about it apart from that but I definitely would love to read more Alice Oman and finally is honey Girl by Morgan Rogers I've had this book for so long once again it's been on so many tbrs heard amazing things about it and just haven't gotten to it and I really need to change that so those are all 24 of the books that I would like to read in 2024 obviously my ambitions for this year are more than 24 books I actually had planned or my goal is to read 125 but I might end up lowering that because I just haven't been reading all that much recently I would love to change that because it's just been like instead of listening to an audiobook while I'm doing things I'm just kind of watching TV which is fine but I also would kind of like to just encourage myself to read more because I know it's something that I love so we'll see how this next month goes I'm going to try and like focus on you know getting back into the habit of opening up my Audi book when I'm doing something where I'm like am not really thinking if that makes sense so it's a work in progress but thank you guys so much for watching today's video I hope you enjoyed it let me know if you have read any of these books your thoughts on them which ones I should prioritize and also what 24 or that's a lot your comment would be very long what are like two books that you would really like to read this year they can be old new upcoming whatever but yeah thank you guys once again so much for watching today's video I hope you enjoyed and I will see you in another new one very soon bye\n"
