Bathroom Reno Vlog - Day 3

Day Three of Bathroom Renovation: A Look at Shannon's Progress and Plans

I'm Shannon from Host Improvements Comm, and this is going to be day three of my bathroom renovation vlog. As you can see, yesterday was quite a mess after a long day, but I managed to get some things done. I started by pulling the ceiling down and getting the wiring started in the ceiling. This was a good starting point, as it allowed me to make progress on other aspects of the project. In addition to the wiring, I also framed in an area down here in the wall for the shower to put a niche in the wall. All these tasks were accomplished despite some minor complications and electrical issues that needed to be addressed.

Today, my goal is to continue working on the bathroom renovation. First things first, I need to do vapor barrier on this outside wall. This involves applying a layer of insulation and sealant to prevent moisture from entering the space. I've also got some electrical work to finish up, which includes installing vapor bags for lights and around the fan. Additionally, I want to get the subfloor down by putting a layer of plywood over top of the flap tape subfloor that's already been laid out. It was important to note that the old flooring had three layers, so this process is more complicated than it would be with single-layered flooring.

As part of today's tasks, I also plan on doing a material run, which means gathering all necessary materials and supplies without having to make multiple trips back and forth. This will help me stay organized and ensure that everything I need is accounted for. I have to admit that the weather has not been cooperative lately with lots of snow in the last couple of days, so I should really be out shoveling snow instead of focusing on my project. However, as much as I would love to tackle other tasks like clearing the driveway or sidewalk, my priority today remains the bathroom renovation.

This afternoon, I find myself getting cleaned up and preparing for a video shoot that will showcase how to install vapor barrier in this room. Most of my morning was spent sealing up some areas with spray foam due to little gaps and cracks around the window. It's essential to eliminate any air leaks or moisture entry points to ensure the success of the renovation project. Additionally, I had trouble getting all the actual insulation into the ceiling paper bags and so had to do a few extra layers of insulation on my own using a mix of 22 rock insulation and regular bad insulation. This added an extra layer of complexity to the task but still made significant progress.

Although I've completed most tasks for today, I haven't finished everything yet. There was just one really awkward spot in the ceiling that I didn't have enough time or patience to deal with, so I will leave it for tomorrow's tasks possibly over a weekend. Now that I'm ready to film, there are still some last-minute preparations left before we can show off this renovation process on camera.

I'll be back soon with more updates from my bathroom renovation project and other projects at Host Improvements Comm.
