Celebrating the Noise: A Straight Pipe C GT Experience

Today, we're just celebrating the noise and enjoying the straight pipe experience. The current traffic congestion is due to the fires surrounding us, making it a challenging afternoon. However, hopefully, we'll be able to navigate through the traffic jams soon.

We've got ourselves a little bit of a tunnel that's one of the greatest things ever. This is what we're talking about – Canon roads. Let's build this car out! It's a symphony, an orchestra all inside the car with us and our top down experience. This is where our top-down engaging drive comes alive. These are the cars of my era, this is what I love, this is what I absolutely love.

This car just booms around us, wow, just wow. This must be one of the greatest driving experiences of my life. The sounds when we go past the rocks are sorry, I couldn't stop talking out of excitement – I'm like a guinea child at Christmas! Right now, this is my element – a nice twisty road and an epic car like this can make me feel absolutely in heaven.

This is like this is a perfect era for this car. It's still old-school in the engagement, manual; you feel connected to the car but it's latest in the sense of generations that it's all modernized. It feels like a modern car – it doesn't feel like a really old car. I mean, when you get in the floor, as well, it's smooth and easy to drive; it's not a challenging car to try and flip it just feels fantastic.

Every corner we go around, my jaw just drops. Accelerating in this thing, the sound that comes out of those pipes at the back of it – it's absolutely incredible! Let's take a quick look at the scenery up where we're driving. The canyon roads up here are spectacular; the road is meandering along the side of the valley – oh, don't want to fall down there that's for sure, pretty steep going on down.

But having so much fun with this thing, this car is such a dream car I've always said it's up there in my top three cars I've ever driven. But like this, it's definitely fighting for the top spot. With the sound that it makes, honestly and truly – I just look at it, this car, this thing's so so so nice, so good, so everything.

Yeah, all we can do is jump back in right; keep driving, and enjoy even more of these roads. The best bit about having come to a stop is that we get to fire the car back up into life again, and this sound just rolls louder than I think it's going to be every single time.

This road though is just the best! So far, everything's going well with the clutch – how long may that continue? Take it easy, and head straight back on out; it's going to drive this again. And you know what we should do something a little bit different? I think that we should or at least I should just shut up for a moment and enjoy some sound of a straight pipe C GT – I tell you the other thing about it – it's also quite a challenging car to drive, briskly.

To drive it well; you know, drive it harder to do all the shifts to handle the weight of the car. It feels like it would snap very quickly as well. But hey, all your problems in the world go away when you're driving a straight pipe C GT – back where we began and we've swapped seats so that Kevin can give us a little sound check from this.

Okay, then I'm ready to hear it! Let's do this – holy moly; okay, I did not realize how loud that was. We need a few more – that thing is so loud; it makes me run away from it. things about the car we will get the roof panels removed and then we're going to take this out for a drive it is incredibly windy today so i will keep this brief but i do happen to have the keys we will jump on board in a second to get it started up the carrera gt was porsche's ultimate supercar at the time from 2003 to 2007 they made about 1207 of them the big thing though is the mid-engined 5.7 liter naturally aspirated v10 an engine originally developed for lemon prototype racing a race-inspired engine a car though with a six-speed manual gearbox famous for quite how challenging it is actually to drive but for today in the sunshine that we have out here in california we're gonna be removing the targa roof panels which you can store away in the front or you can go and pop them inside behind where the viper acr is at the moment but this is a car that i have been looking forward to one day getting to hear in person so let's get it unlocked go inside get this started up and take a listen then to the magical sound of a straight pipe carrera gt climbing then over the carbon fiber side sills we are faced with those iconic porsche dials key goes in on the left hand side get ready for this okay ignition is on should we take a listen then to the sound let's start it up wow wow there's something about a v10 but listen to a few small little blips here just to get a uh a little feel for what this is like quickly that's about 4000 rpm up towards about 5 000 what that is insane that is absolutely insane of course we need to warm the engine up before we can hear it fully unleashed but this this is well straight pipe carrera gt and we're about to take it for a drive so let's get these roof panels removed and then let's get out on the roads for this process then we need to take off the roof panels and we are rejoined by kevin how you doing well thank you very much for this opportunity i am already buzzing to experience this one um how do you actually do this i have done it before but not recently you want to kind of unlatch them passenger seat first in fact let me just have a quick look so there's a latch at the back okay pops up oh that's pretty easy carbon fiber roof panels another carbon fiber trunk okay yeah we'll store them away in here um there is a button there we go oh full carbon the viper is such an unusual thing okay so we're literally putting carrera gt roof panels in the back of a viper as you do and there's a lamborghini car cover car collector problems hey car collector problems can we come over this is actually really easy yeah just pops off just like that and then of course we have our uh our targa convertible sun cream requiring machine yeah you gotta put a cover back oh yeah there's a car ah that slides over i didn't know that one before of course this wing raises up as well when you're driving but those tail pipes they just look well now they sound how they look but everything about this car it's quite subtle it's quite discreet not that many people know a carrera gt of course it's it's coming up on 15 years old it's about 15 years old now this car that's crazy i think a lot of people don't know what they're looking at when they actually see one of these out on the roads but um should we should we go drive of course let's do it it's a nice boxster it's a very nice boxster a boxer that sounds like it's probably broken broken head right felt it up we've got the carbon pack in here i like that carbon gear shifter we get to start it up again oh yeah oh it's so good okay all right this is a special car fly off handbrake into first gear and then the whole famous thing don't stall it don't stall it gently does it gently gently gently gently does it gently gently gently and onto the gas yeah i didn't stall it good that's good long may that continue no it's not that bad you just have to you just have to drive it with the sight you get the sound it's a race car whoa barely any revs at all sounds that good that's the sound of heaven it's spine tingling isn't it excited tim right now you of course won't have heard me saying it earlier but one of the things about this car is that when i started getting really into supercars and making my videos on the shme150 channel the car that kind of stood out above everything else was one of these a straight piped carrera gt and um it's eluded me but here we are i can't thank you enough gently gently gently pulls away what what is this this is one of the ultimate driving experiences you could ever have this this car and the ferrari f50 are my two favorites because they both have motorsport engines open top roofs and manual gearboxes but this straight light is the sound of bumper angry i'm in heaven this is this is epic and you actually drive this car quite a lot don't you i don't drive a lot it's like daily driver straight like bro it's hard not to so fun i'm a little bit speechless under the bridge so connected as well the feeling that
