(EuroTrip) The Drive to Monaco

The Thrill of Long-Distance Driving: A French Adventure Begins

As I embarked on my long-distance drive to France, I couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. I had been preparing for this trip for weeks, meticulously planning every detail, from the route I would take to the snacks I would bring along. My car, which I lovingly referred to as "the beast," was ready to tackle the 6-hour drive ahead. With my cameras set up, music blasting, and a bottle of water in hand, I settled in for what I thought would be a quick journey.

But little did I know, the French countryside had other plans. As I pulled over at a service station, I couldn't help but be awestruck by the beautiful landscape unfolding before me. The sun was shining, and the smell of freshly cut grass wafted through the air. It was as if I had entered a different world, one that was far removed from the hustle and bustle of city life. My camera's captured the stunning scenery, from the rolling hills to the quaint villages in the distance.

As I continued on my journey, I found myself drawn to a charming little village called Dejon. Despite its picturesque appearance, my experience was less than enchanting. The roads were winding, and the traffic was slow-moving. I pulled into a parking spot, only to realize that I had no idea where I was going or what rules applied in France when it came to crossing zebra crossings. The pain display above the entrance to the restaurant provided some clarity, but by then, my stomach was growling.

I ordered lunch and took a break from driving, stretching my legs and marveling at the quaint little village. But as I sat there, I couldn't shake off the feeling that something had gone awry. My watch told me it was 1:30 PM in France, but according to my calculations, I should have been halfway through my journey by then. The car, which had been my trusty companion thus far, was now starting to show its true colors. With only 2 hours and 44 minutes left until arrival, the tension was palpable.

Just as I thought things couldn't get any worse, a torrential downpour drenched me in rain. The traffic was gridlocked, and I found myself stuck in one place for what felt like an eternity. As I gazed out of the window, I wondered if this trip would be a disaster after all. But then, as suddenly as it began, the storm passed, leaving behind a wall of sunshine.

As I emerged from the tunnel that led to my final destination, Sean's house, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief and accomplishment. The car, which had been my nemesis for so long, had finally met its match. With 53 minutes left until arrival, I was in a euphoric state, singing along to my favorite tunes and enjoying the scenic views of rolling hills and mountains.

The sign that greeted me as I pulled up to Sean's house read "Bienvenue," and I couldn't help but smile. This trip had been a rollercoaster ride, full of twists and turns, but it had ultimately led me to this moment. As I stepped out of the car, I felt a sense of pride and accomplishment, knowing that my trusty companion, the beast, had carried me safely through the long distance drive.

The road had been long and arduous, but in the end, it was worth it for the breathtaking scenery and the experience of driving through one of Europe's most beautiful countries. As I looked back on this journey, I couldn't help but think about how much my car, the beast, had become a part of me. From its quirks to its strengths, it had been an integral companion throughout this adventure, and I knew that our bond would only grow stronger with time.

The End
