From Art Teacher to UX Designer - Xiomara’s Story

The Evolution of a Career: From Fine Art to UX and UI Design

I started off teaching Fine Art, a profession I held for 11 years. However, I eventually switched over to teaching graphic design for several years before finally pursuing my doctorate and transitioning into educational leadership, which I found incredibly fulfilling. Nevertheless, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was missing the creative design aspect of my work, which ultimately led me to explore User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) design.

As a lifelong learner, I've always been drawn to online courses that allow me to expand my knowledge and skills in various fields. When it came to considering UX and UI design, I knew I needed a program that would provide me with the necessary support and guidance to succeed. It was during this time of transition that I discovered Springboard, an online learning platform that offered a comprehensive course in UX and UI design.

The one-on-one mentorship aspect of Springboard's program was instrumental in my decision to enroll. I felt like there was a lot of built-in support, which allowed me to feel confident that I would have access to the resources I needed whenever I required them. The mentorship program was truly exceptional, providing me with an opportunity to form a close bond with my assigned mentor and establish a network of support when I got stuck.

Throughout the course, I had numerous avenues for getting my questions answered, which helped me stay on track and ensure that I was learning what I needed to know at the right time. When I reached the end of the program and began searching for a job, I felt incredibly confident about the skills I had acquired. Moreover, I was assured that Springboard would continue to support me throughout my career, which gave me peace of mind as I embarked on this new chapter in my professional life.

I must emphasize that the curriculum itself was excellent, but it was the combination of the mentorship and career coaching that truly made the program stand out for me. The career coaches at Springboard were an absolute game-changer, providing me with guidance and support every step of the way as I navigated the job market. In fact, I would say that they came in second only to my mentor in terms of their impact on my learning experience.

What struck me most about Springboard's program was how it made online learning feel more like an in-person course. Typically, online courses can lack that human connection and support system, but Springboard's platform felt remarkably close to the traditional classroom experience. I attribute this largely to the exceptional mentorship and career coaching provided by the platform.

While I've taken numerous online courses throughout my career, it was my experience with Springboard that truly made me realize what a difference good mentorship and career support can make in one's learning journey. The program's emphasis on building relationships and providing guidance and support whenever needed made all the difference, helping me to stay motivated and confident as I pursued my new career path in UX and UI design.

what got me interested in looking at ux and UI I'm a lifelong learner so I love online courses I love learning I know you can find some really good ones out there and the thing that really made me decide to go with springboard was the one-on-one mentorship it just seemed like there was a lot of support built in I always had so many Avenues to get my questions answered I felt very supported in about the skills that I had learned in the program and I felt confident that springboard was going to like continue to be there for me as I searched for a job thank you the mentor is number one but the career coaches come in a very close number two and the reason I say that is in the past I've done a lot of online courses and this was the first time I'd ever taken an online course that felt very very much like an in-person course because usually online does not feel that way you don't feel like you really connect you don't feel like you've formed those relationships you don't feel like you have support whenever you need it and in this course I did I felt like I had plenty of support I felt like I really created a close bond with my mentor and I felt like I had lots of avenues to reach out if I got stuck I would say just having that human to human contact yes the curriculum is good but having that was huge for meforeign I started off teaching Fine Art I did that for 11 years and
