Dodge Demon review - 0-60mph, 1_4-mile, brake & DRIFT test!

The Dodge Demon: A Car Like No Other

As I put the car's transmission into both forward and reverse, it locks up and then releases, unleashing a torrent of power that sends shivers down my spine. The thing about superchargers is that they don't just give you a loud noise, like some turbocharged engines do - they build power as you rev the car. I love that about superchargers; it rewards you for winding them up all the way to the red line.

The first thing that struck me when I got behind the wheel of the Dodge Demon was its incredible sound. It's a noise that's hard to describe, but it's just so good - much better than some of those turbocharged engines I've heard before. The car has a certain... sensibility about it, a sense of being a toy for adults only. And that steering wheel! It's like something out of a movie, with its huge bulge in the body. But what really sets the Demon apart is its controllability. Despite its incredible power, the chassis feels surprisingly responsive and playful.

Of course, all this comes at a price. The fuel consumption on this thing is brutal - you get through fuel very quickly. In fact, it's so thirsty that I was worried about running out of petrol before even reaching 100 miles per hour! But as I said earlier, it's money well spent. This car isn't about doing donuts and skidding around corners; it's all about the launch.

As you might expect, launching the Demon is an experience unlike any other. I took it to a drag strip and managed to shave off a couple of seconds from my previous time - which was impressive, given that the car wasn't even warmed up! But then I had an idea: what if we tried launching it on a runway instead? It's not ideal, but sometimes you have to get creative when it comes to finding a launch strip.

So I pulled up on the brake, put both feet flat on the pedals, and engaged the trans brake. Then I gave it some extra gas and let out the pressure... only to realize that the car was still spinning! Not quite what I was expecting, but I figured there must be another way to get the Demon moving.

After a few more attempts, I managed to coax the car into life by revving the engine up to around 1800 rpm. As I let out the brake pedal and fed in some extra power, I felt that familiar surge of acceleration - it was like the whole car was coming alive! And as we picked up speed, I could feel the rush of adrenaline coursing through my veins.

Of course, launching a car is all about finding the right combination of techniques. You see, with a prepped drag strip, you can use the launch technique to get the Demon moving in just a few seconds. But on a runway, it's a bit trickier - and I wasn't sure if this would work at all! Luckily, after a few more attempts, I managed to shave off some time... but not quite the 10-second lap I was hoping for.

All joking aside, I think what really matters here is that this car is so much fun to drive. The Demon is an absolute blast behind the wheel, whether you're cruising on the highway or tearing around a track. And while it may be expensive - with a price tag of $85,000 in America and £135,000 in the UK - I think it's worth every penny.

If you're looking for a car that's truly special, something that'll turn heads and put a smile on your face... then look no further than the Dodge Demon. Just be prepared to spend some cash! But if you do decide to buy one, trust me: it won't disappoint.

In the end, I think the most important thing is that this car reminds us all why we fell in love with driving in the first place. Whether you're a seasoned racing enthusiast or just someone who loves the thrill of speed... there's something special about the Dodge Demon that'll make you feel alive. So go ahead and indulge yourself - treat yourself to this incredible car, and enjoy every minute of it!
