Adonit Jot Touch pressure-sensitive, Bluetooth stylus review

The Future of Styluses: Adonit Jot Touch Review

In recent years, styluses have become an essential accessory for iPad and iPhone users who want to take advantage of the devices' touchscreen capabilities. One of the most exciting developments in this field is the arrival of Bluetooth pressure-sensitive styluses, such as the Adonit Jot Touch. This stylus promises to revolutionize the way we create art, write, and interact with our devices.

The Adonit Jot Touch features a unique design that sets it apart from other styluses on the market. When you unscrew the cap, you'll notice a mechanical pencil-like tip with a small plastic disc on top. This may look familiar, but don't be fooled – it's actually a pressure-sensitive stylus that can adapt to different applications and user preferences. The stylus comes with buttons on the side, which allow you to control its functionality.

To pair your Adonit Jot Touch with your iPad or iPhone, simply hold down the power button until the device is ready to connect. You'll know it's paired when you see a green light indicating that everything is set up correctly. The stylus comes with a convenient cap that can be attached to the end of the unit for easy storage. This cap also features a familiar "sample app" design, complete with instructions and rewards for completing each tutorial.

One of the most exciting features of the Adonit Jot Touch is its pressure sensitivity. When you apply gentle pressure to the stylus, it produces a light line that's perfect for delicate work or sketching. However, when you apply more pressure, the lines become thicker and darker – similar to using a marker or calligraphy brush. This level of precision and control makes it an ideal tool for artists, writers, and anyone who wants to take their device-based creativity to the next level.

The Adonit Jot Touch is compatible with applications that use the Adobe SDK, including Procreate, Clip Studio Paint, and SketchBook Pro. These apps can tap into the stylus's Bluetooth 2.0 connection to provide precise pressure sensitivity, allowing users to create stunning artwork that rivals traditional media. The stylus also works seamlessly with capacitive touch devices, providing accurate and responsive feedback.

While the Adonit Jot Touch is still a relatively new product on the market, it's clear that it's going to revolutionize the way we interact with our devices. One of its most impressive features is its ability to adapt to different brush styles and pressures – allowing users to create everything from fine lines to thick, textured strokes.

For artists and writers, the Adonit Jot Touch offers a whole new world of creative possibilities. The stylus's pressure sensitivity allows for precise control over line width and texture, making it an ideal tool for creating intricate artwork or writing manuscripts with precision. The addition of buttons on the side – which can be used to undo, redo, and apply calligraphy effects – adds a level of convenience and versatility that sets this stylus apart from its competitors.

Despite some minor issues, such as the lack of granular feedback between thin and thick strokes, the Adonit Jot Touch is an exciting development in the world of styluses. Its promise of precision, control, and creativity makes it an essential accessory for anyone who wants to take their device-based art or writing to the next level.

In terms of charging, the Adonit Jot Touch comes with a USB charger that plugs directly into your MacBook laptop, desktop, or AC adapter. This makes it easy to keep your stylus charged and ready for use at all times. The unit itself is designed to be compact and portable, making it easy to take on-the-go.

Overall, the Adonit Jot Touch is a game-changer in the world of styluses. Its pressure sensitivity, precision, and versatility make it an essential accessory for artists, writers, and anyone who wants to unlock the full potential of their device. With its promise of innovation and creativity, this stylus is sure to revolutionize the way we interact with our devices – and take our art and writing to new heights.

Bluetooth and pressure sensitive the adonet jot touch looks like the adonet Jot Pro when you unscrew the calf you see a very similar almost mechanical pencil-like tip with a small plastic disc on the top you'd be excused for thinking it was a regular stylist until you notice it actually has buttons on the side when you hold down the power button a little light will come on green telling you that it's ready to go hold it down for a few more seconds it will blink red and green and show you that it's ready to pair with your iPod or iPad or iPhone you can take the cap and just like the regular Adon it jot you can put it on the end for convenient storage now you can use this as a regular stylist with any application on your iPad iPhone iPod but with applications that use the adonet SDK things like procreate clibe or SketchBook Pro they can actually use the Bluetooth 2.0 connection to do pressure sensitivity uh anyone who's used a wcom tablet will understand what I mean but basically the harder you press the bigger thicker the that you make with the stylist becomes it's like using a marker a calligraphy brush any art tool Amazing Spider-Man recent movie I'm going to draw Spider-Man here just to show you how it works now you do have to turn it on in the application so you go to the tools you go to devices you turn on external devices you turn on this particular stylus because there are others and once that happens your ability to use the sidebar control for size goes away because now your pressure controls the size you can still control the intensity of the application however start drawing the harder you push the more pixels get changed to the pigment color on the iPad now I found it wasn't exactly a smooth transition a very light stroke did produce a light line a very heavy stroke did produce a big fat brush Splat of paint but getting a smooth Arc in between the two a medium one didn't really do medium I kind of it was it was more on either end not a smooth transition through the range but that might just be early days these are brand new on the market now getting back to these buttons in this app in procreate for example hitting the first button will undo the Last Action hitting the second button will redo it so you instead of having to take your stylus off tapping the undo or redo button on the side on the on the interface you can just tap it while you're drawing erase a stroke replace a stroke keep on drawing I can also do other things for example calligraphy calligraphy is long the power of the brush stroke in calligraphy is one of the most important things and if I start writing some Chinese characters or trying to write some Chinese characters you can see that as I'm writing them it is adapting to the pen stroke uh it's not doing it perfectly or I'm not doing it perfectly but it is a very lovely very artistic effect you do have to charge it however it comes with an awesome USB Charger looks fantastic and best of all it connects magnetically you plug this into the side of your MacBook laptop desktop or into an AC adapter plug it in and it will charge the box that it comes in is very cute it has an almost card-like game where they give you instruction after instruction after instruction sample app after sample app after sample app and if you make it all the way way through because unlike an app you can't just hit the X to continue but if you make it all the way through you are rewarded with an extra tip for your adonet jot touch so the good things about this is that it is the one of the first in the new line of pressure sensitive Bluetooth styluses and this should only be the beginning in how smart uh these accessories are getting I still love the adonet because I grew up using mechanical pens and pencils and I like the fact that it's hard that it's stiff that you have immediate tactile feedback when you are working it still has excellent capacitive connection very accurate and the pressure sensitivity while it's not perfect yet it is it is just an incredible advancement in styluses for the iPad on the negative side I didn't feel that granular change from very thin to very thick it was a bit of an Abrupt change um hopefully they're working on that um I would recommend this for anybody who likes artwork anybody who likes calligraphy it doesn't feel like a brush because it is a hard tip
