Epic showdown - ASUS Zenbook UX305 vs. Dell XPS 13
I expect the UX305 to pull ahead but it's true that the Dell has a bigger battery you know can't we have not quite figured out how all physics work yet so bigger batteries are usually a good thing but the UX305's battery is not bad you know we can test it around five, six hours and pretty heavy use cuz we don't mess around with our battery life tests we're not too easy on them so I feel like that's pretty good. You know at CES 2016 users didn't have a problem with the battery life at all and for a lot of people maybe the extra hundred dollars if you're not actually gonna be sitting at the end of the day and being like well my battery's like shot you know if either one of the systems will get you through then that would be alright.
Well what if you do have a little bit extra to spend then don't you want that boost in performance? The higher resolution screen feels like a better deal at high end on the Dell XPS 13. Okay are most people gonna be spending $700 or $800 on the computer and you're not even looking at the higher configurations yes well I mean first of all the answer to that question definitely is yes because we already know people do not spend more than $600 on a laptop generally speaking that's been the average for like five years so if you're looking out for a laptop and you're saying oh my god $700 I don't want to spend that much then you might as well probably just get the Asus and call it a day because you're already weird about spending a bit more than you need to.
I will concede right now though that point those high-end configurations if you got some money the XPS 13 high-end configurations are pretty sweet what do you get when you start getting to that $1400 price range especially with the special configuration of that one it comes with an i7 in there that's pretty that's a pretty sweet looking computer.
I think that the UX305 has basically looked the same for a few years now and this redesign of the XPS line is like it's awesome they look so good infinity edge display is so cool yeah so I think the silver one looks a little mundane on the outside but when you open up either them they look pretty sweet.
Another thing about these high-end configurations is that the XPS 13 like this has a core i7 processor four-core i7 6560 you believe it is and it's fast man like and then you got these uh these PCI Express hard drives in them also really quick so we're talking about you know not only the battery life which is solid on these systems but we're talking about an ultrabook that it's pretty much the quickest you're gonna get until you unless you could go up to a 15 inch system and get a quad-core processor like this.
You know in my mind when I start to play with those Core M systems you know day-to-day tasks totally fine no problems there but sometimes you know what I'm trying to pick up a little bit of lightweight gaming some CAD although we did find that we just ran in a VM factorial just pretty well on the 4m there just fine with that processor but you know I think a lot of the times I find myself sort of wanting for that but probably like you're saying isn't you know I think a lot of people are gonna be totally satisfied with that core M3 core m5 even a quad-core set down at the end of the day these are both editors choice winning systems at distres.
They both have nine out of ten we really like both of these computers I think the verdict is if you don't have a lot of money then yeah definitely the Zenbook UX305 out of the way gets really solid all-around system spec-wise you need to get more RAM more hard drive space for the same price that you get with the Dell XPS 13 now if you got you know over $1000 then what you know just go ahead and upgrade get that XPS 13 I think would be very happy.

when I'm at the CES 2016 I didn't take with me the XPS 13 I took with me the Asus Zenbook ux302 a weird choice because it's not as fast as the XPS 13 the processor is a bit slower but here's the thing here's the thing about the ux305 okay it starts at $70 processors okay you get eight gigs of ram which you don't get in the base XPS 13 and you get a 256 gigabyte hard drive and the dell has got a hundred twenty eight what do you do the hunter 28 gigabytes exactly well I think you know if you're if you're willing to drop down to a lower processor performance point you should be getting something out of it right besides just an extra hundred dollars and the Dell actually does better on battery life which is somewhere that I'd expect the ux305 to pull ahead but it's true but it's true the doubt does do better on battery life the reason for that being the dell has a bigger battery you know can't we haven't quite figured out how the change of all physics yet so bigger batteries are usually a good thing but you know the yucks 305 battery is not bad you know we can test it around five six hours and pretty heavy use cuz we do not mess around with our battery life tests we're not into your wallet to get that but I will concede right as a point those high-end configurations if you got some money the burn the the XPS 13 high-end configurations are pretty sweet what do you get when you start getting to that thirteen hundred forty dollar price range well especially what have you what have you got around for you right now man you got a special configuration of that don't you yeah yeah that's the gold one right comes with an i7 in there that's pretty that's a pretty sweet looking computer which is another thing that I like about the XPS 13 is I think that the ux305 has basically looked the same for a few years now and this redesign of the XPS line is like it's awesome they look so good infinity edge display is so cool yeah so I think the silver one looks a little just fine with that processor but you know I think a lot of the times I find myself sort of wanting for that but there might be a specific use case that might be something that not all users want and I think probably like you're saying isn't you know I think a lot of people are gonna be totally satisfied with that the core m3 core m5 even a quorum set down at the end of the day these are both editors choice winning systems at distres they both have nine out of ten we really like both of these computers I think the verdict is if you don't have a lot of mains spin then yeah definitely the Zenbook ux302 out of the way the gets really solid all-around system spec wise you need you get more RAM more harddrive space for the same price that you get with the Dell XPS 13 now if you got you
