Creating a Card Game: A Fun and Interactive Gift Idea

Welcome to TutoCrafty Thursday! Today, we're going to make a really cool card that's not only a beautiful gift but also a board game. This project is perfect for crafters who want to create something unique and exciting.

To start, you'll need a big square of cardstock, measuring 32 cm by 32 cm. You can use any size or shape you like, but this one will give you the best results for creating a grid. Fold the square in half diagonally to create a crease, then bring the other edges towards the middle and repeat on the other side. This will create a grid of sixteen 8 x 8 cm squares.

The base of your card is now complete, and it's time to decorate each square. The trick here is that the decoration should follow the direction of a spiral. For the first box, you'll welcome players and provide instructions on how to play the game. You can draw everything except for the instructions, as you want the text to be in a video game font.

To make your text stand out, you can use a foam sheet piece or any other material that will add some dimension to your design. Place both players (in this case, your boyfriend and yourself) on one side of the box using a marker. You can also add a sign to start the game on the other side. To keep things from opening, place a washi tape tab and close it with another piece of washi tape.

The next square is where you'll make the game more beautiful by using decorative paper or scrapbook paper. Remember that you can download this design on my web page. This is where players will start the game, so number each box using cardstock and a marker. To add questions with pictures, you can include items like a voodoo donut with a pretzel in the heart and a raspberry filling.

To make the game more dynamic, add stairs that go from one box to another. Draw your own stairs on a white sheet of paper and make sure they only allow players to move up if they have the correct answer. You can also create bridges like this box where you need to kiss to cross over. For an awesome wildcard, scratch off a number to reveal which box to go to next.

To make a slidable question, just cut out the middle, paste it on the sides, and stick in a rectangle that players can pull out. This is like the surprise box from a previous crafty project. The wildcard box is another fun one where players need to scratch off a number to reveal which box to go next.

On this last side of the card, place a door with litmus paper on the bottom so if you get here, you'll have the opportunity to teleport to the other dimension (which in this case is the other side of the card). Number it 14 so that you don't lose the order of the boxes. For this side, add an envelope containing a mini letter and leave your link around for viewers to see the video to make their own envelope.

The final box contains another envelope for the winner with the real prize. Place a coupon for a date inside and check out my blog Craftingeek.me for more ideas for the final prize. Now that we've decorated our game, it's time to cut it in a spiral using a precision blade and a ruler. Be very careful so you don't cut any of the boxes off.

To fold it, simply follow the spiral pattern and then open it up flat. The last thing we're missing is making a box – I recommend using an old pizza box. You can find more ideas on how to make this in my blog post as well. Before closing the box, add a dice so you can play with another person.

That's it! You can gift this card and play with your loved ones. What we liked most about this idea is that you can personalize each box to your liking – like the bridge one or the slidable one. I recommend checking out my channel for more ideas on what you can add to each box.
