Fixing a $1500 Aston Martin part with Glue AND THE DELOREAN LIVES!!!

The Repair and Rebirth of a Classic Car

As I sit here with my trusty toolset and a deep breath, I can barely contain my excitement. The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of repair and rebirth for my beloved classic car. It all started when I realized that the issue with my acceleration was caused by a faulty fuel pump. Yes, you read that right - a fuel pump! The one in my car wasn't even the right type, and instead of having it properly installed, the hose just sat there like a little J-shaped blob, sucking in air and causing me to lose power. It was a frustrating problem, but I knew that with the right solution, we could get back on the road.

The car wizard, a man renowned for his skills and his impressive beard of knowledge, stepped in to help me fix the issue. With his expertise, we replaced the fuel pump, installed a new screen in the hose, and got my car running smoothly once again. The final touches included installing a speedometer cable and replacing the rear brakes, which were in need of attention. It was a painstaking process, but with each passing day, I could feel my car coming back to life.

But that wasn't all - we also tackled some more significant issues, like replacing the transmission mount and adjusting the motor mount. The solution? A hockey puck-shaped disc of rubber, strategically placed to give the transmission room to flex without compromising its performance. It was a clever fix, and one that I'm glad I got to see in action.

As we worked on my car, we also tackled some cosmetic issues. We installed new windows, which were previously foggy and obstructed my view. And while we were at it, we decided to reassemble the interior, including reupholstering the headliner. It was a painstaking process, but one that ultimately resulted in a beautifully restored car.

One of the most thrilling parts of the project was getting back on the road. For the first time in weeks, I felt like myself again - behind the wheel of my trusty steed, with the wind in my hair and a sense of freedom in my heart. The DeLorean, which had been our temporary fix for all these months, proved to be the perfect car for this journey. With its powerful V8 engine and sport-tuned suspension, it was the perfect vehicle for testing out our new transmission.

And test it we did! I took the DeLorean on a thrilling spin around town, feeling the rush of adrenaline as I accelerated from 0 to 60 in a blistering pace. The transmission shifted smoothly, the brakes gripped firmly, and the tires stuck to the road like glue. It was exhilarating - and a welcome respite from the frustrations of car troubles.

But as the day drew to a close, it became clear that we still had some work to do. There was an exhaust leak, which would need to be addressed before I could confidently take my new baby out on the road again. And while we were at it, we decided to tidy up and make sure everything was shipshape before we called it a day.

As I sit here now, reflecting on our journey, I'm filled with gratitude for the car wizard and his incredible skills. Without him, I would be stuck in limbo, unable to enjoy my beloved classic car. But thanks to his expertise, patience, and passion, I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel - and it's shining brighter than ever before.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enand the wizard is going to fix this with a bit of straw and some glue so you're saying I can drive it down right well I'm back at the Wizards shop actually I never left that's why my voice is still bad it's not like I'm not getting better I just film these on the same day and the wizard has been working on my Aston Martin by 1998 Aston Martin db7 and we've made some progress er he's made some progress the air conditioning compressor which was gonna be a really expensive proposition if I got it through Aston Martin the only one we could find through Austin Martin channels Aston Martin channels was used and it was $600 yeah but he was able to pop it off and you matched up the part number with an old jag right yeah xj6 compressor so so that was only a few hundred bucks there's a little bit of a pain to get in you need to take out a few things but yeah I'm gonna have working air conditioning but the other two issues I had with my Aston turned out to not to be that simple I kind of need your help with this starting with this mouch so as we talked to me about this because it's a spring within a spring for a transmission mount and you can see why I was having problems with my shifter going up and down in a very inappropriate manner is because the way this thing is set up this plate mounts to the transmission and that's just a serie a couple of springs here in this mountain to the crossmember so there's nothing rubber really that would have worn out there was like a red foamy thing that just disintegrated in there yeah but it's definitely a spring-loaded contraption I don't understand what in the world keeps it from just sitting there like it was been doing and bouncing right and we tried ordering the part it was available but it showed it but it looked like a normal transmission mount it was the wrong one yeah and we can't find this now I'm sure it's part of some weird British car because they wouldn't have made this specifically for the Aston Martin so hopefully some British enthusiasts can help me figure out where I can get this from so this is really easy to take in and out and it's not a part that's gonna fail it's a metal spring it's just bouncing a lot I'll put it back in and drive the car in the mean time and hopefully be able to source that part the other issue I was having but we're gonna with is with the blower motor and a blower motor is another XJS part if I wanted the blower motor itself I got it out of a mid nineties Jaguar but the motor itself is fine it's the wheel that's come apart and the wizard is going to fix this with a bit of straw and some glue the edge of it was hitting the housing in here and making all the squalling noise it sound like the motor went out yeah but the motor didn't go out I put it in a vise and ran it's just smooth and quiet as can be hmm this is the problem so let's see if we can wizard it here so you're gonna slide the straw in here yep and then me grab my glue here epoxy plastic adhesive see this is plastic it's just worn out and it wobbles on there yeah the straw is gonna take up that slack that the wobbling slack and the glue holds it on there yes lovely I've used this plastic adhesive called plastic welder on for years some of the strongest stuff I've ever used mm-hmm and if you like wizards little Wizarding tricks and things he does have a YouTube channel most of you know needs to get to a hundred thousand subscribers so go over there and subscribe I'm getting close yes you are and he is the Bob Ross of mechanics he's so calm and soothing he's painting on glue I try to be if I can make this work here look at the letters of the alphabet on this thing isn't that weird makes no sense somebody was bored in a CAD machine back in the 90s or 80s like a glove and there's the bit of straw just a straw wizard wizard yeah the Wizards been very busy with my cars it's nice he made a lot of progress on the DeLorean so we can go check that out too almost uppercutted Wow got the transmission in we got all the brakes no you have rear brakes where you didn't before yeah is that what these rags are for you're bleeding brakes yep and we got the speedometer cable replaced the fuel pumps been installed yeah a whole new fuel pump so this is what was causing my my issues as far as that acceleration we were cut out right yeah the pump that was in there wasn't even the right pump and then instead of having it the hose go over to a pickup screen it was just a little J shaped hose sitting out in the middle of the tank yeah so like if you take off the gas would slosh to the back and now it's sucking air right and that's what I would lose power and then would slosh back then it would come right so hopefully that's the end of my fuel issues I'm pretty sure this will take care of it it now has using the proper screen in the hose and everything that's supposed to use so I'll have fuel to make the engine go all the transmission that shifts doors that open key that works and yeah and brake oh yeah the speedometer that was ripped off it placed that to and rear brakes yeah it'll actually stop so we're really close to getting this thing going yeah maybe I'll come back in a few days with this one and my voice will be better than I can actually cruising this thing huh very possible and what they are you doing here this is an old 350 diesel the 350 diesel that's right and you're putting it in that there's something wrong with your brain are you sick I fixed everything that's the problem on these that I put head studs on it and main stud so you took a giant big-block motor with plenty of power and torque and then you're going with this one of the worst motors in the history of General Motors and you're putting it in a cadillac fleetwood which is one of the heaviest cars they ever made it'll be the Fleetwood slow ham wizards lost his mind I guess I was dumb enough to LS swap a Porsche 911 so I must be rubbing off on you I don't know but yeah I should probably come back in a few days and check on the progress maybe I'll get a first drive out of that DeLorean that'll be super exciting yeah I think I'm gonna go home and rest soak my throat all right two days later yeah well I haven't healed much at all but the cars sure have in the last two days wizards waving my healing hands oh you have you have there's one thing he did it get a solution on the motor mount or the transmission mount with the Aston Martin so I don't need to replace it right away I guess you kind of stuck a hockey puck in it right that's just a round disc of rubber to take up this gap they're still spongy just barely enough to give it room to flex but not a I see yeah it looks like the shifters very eager to get to work again and it won't bounce as much so that's that's good news the compressors in I have cold air right the blower motor with the glue and the straw will go in and then I'm driving an Aston Martin with a few other little odds and ends so yeah we're really close but the DeLorean even more impressive here so you're saying I can drive it now right huh Oh tidying up to do to finish up the windows are working now but we just need to Stan reassembling all that yeah then I'm having the headliner redone start it up that's good still a little bit of an exhaust leak but yeah oh yeah it rain okay here in the garage but really it was driving it when it would totally fall on its face and also the transmission was junk so this will be the first real drive with the DeLorean where I'm not scared I'm gonna die with the engine cutting out and the no brakes and the tires yeah let's take her out to see my ways it's accelerating it's not accelerating hard but that's that's exactly how it's supposed to be and this transmission is perfect shifting not only did I get a used transmission that was out of a nice little mileage car but I also got the updated shift computer which is apparently what goes haywire and blows up the transmission in these anyway it feels really good well I don't feel like I'm gonna die anymore when I Drive this thing this is great it's really nice to see some light at the end of the tunnel and as you all know I am so lucky to have the car wizard with all of his skills and his beard of knowledge to solve problems without just throwing ridiculously expensive parts in something like my Aston Martin it's just a total godsend I couldn't live without him the man is definitely my Valentine this year thank you for watching we can probably do 88 65 70and the wizard is going to fix this
