**My Experience at Y'All Fest**

I didn't get to say hi to Veronica Roth, but I was thrilled to see her sitting with Margot and Elizabeth from Epic Reads at the Chicago terminal. I had tweeted earlier that I thought she was on her plane, but apparently, she decided to spend the day in New York instead. I couldn't believe my luck - being within breathing distance of one of my favorite authors again was truly a highlight of the convention.

**Y'All Fest Merchandise**

I picked up some ridiculous Y'all Fest pants that read "Bookworm I Heart My A So Many Books, So Little Time" on them. They're so comfy and I love them - even though I'm not sure what half of the other items say on them. One of the book marks says "Y'All Fest Charleston Young Adult Book Festival" with a pencil from the author's symbol. I also got three siren bookmarks, which are part of Caraval series by Stephanie Garber.

**Books and Collectibles**

When I was waiting in line for the K cast signing, I scored some great merchandise. There were people giving out gold foil tattoos featuring characters from The Mortal Instruments series. I couldn't resist getting one - they're so shiny and cute! I also picked up a few bookmarks, including one for The Fifth Wave movie and another from the book series. I was excited to see the last star cover of The Last Star, but it wasn't available yet.

**Chapter Samplers**

As part of Y'all Fest, I got my hands on some chapter samplers featuring books by popular authors. One sampler is from a new Star Wars book series written by Alexander Freed, Adam Gidwitz, and Tom Angleberger. Another one is from Ember of the Ashes, which I already have in full book form but was thrilled to receive as a collectible item. I also picked up a chapter sampler for The Glittering Court by Rhyll Richard.

**Tote Bag and Arc**

To top off my experience, Michelle Mead gave me a tote bag with her chapter sampler, along with other goodies. The tote is a beautiful shade of gray and has the words "We Are What You Read" printed on it in bold letters. It's from Penguin Books and also features a quote from The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. I was thrilled to receive this as a surprise prize and can't wait to use it for future book conventions.

**Conclusion**

Overall, my experience at Y'all Fest was an absolute blast. I got to meet some amazing authors, pick up fantastic merchandise, and even score some exclusive collectibles. I'm already counting down the days until next year's convention - who knows what new books and goodies I'll discover then?

South Carolina and I had so much fun that I just needed to share my experience with you guys so I have already posted a kind of like montage video of all the clips I took while I was at yall Fest I didn't really want to Vlog when I go away to these kind of conventions like VidCon and I'll do one for bookon or ba if I go I just like to have like the whole experience so you guys kind of see what I'm seeing so I did that instead of Vlog but I really wanted to like get across the amazing time that I had at gol Fest so I decided to make a video just telling you guys all about my weekend so for the weekend I was staying with my very best friend in the entire world Michael book lion we took a flight from JFK to Charleston on Thursday morning super early in the morning cuz we wanted to have a day like just to do stuff rather than just like do like plane convention plane home you know what I mean so Thursday we didn't actually do much and I'll get to the story as to why and so once we had got off the plane and settled in our hotel and that stuff we decided we wanted to go shopping and so apparently I'm like the only person that's heard of this but there's this place called the Tanger Outlets and there are like multiple of them probably all over the country basically it's like an outdoor shopping mall and they have like a lot of like big Brands like juicy and Gucci and coach and they also have like other stores like H&M and American Eagle and all that fun stuff and so we were relatively close to it and we were going to be taking Ubers all weekend cuz unfortunately we were like 20 minutes away from the actual Festival so we're like let's not take an Uber let's walk cuz Siri says it's only 5 minutes and so we listened to Siri which was a horrible horrible idea so just to like cram this hour and a half experience into like a minute we basically started walking and Siri told us to go over this kind of like it was supposed to be a bridge but the bridge was kind of covered up by like sewer water so we were like you know what let's just keep walking like we'll eventually hit an entrance there's got to be a way for people to drive into the Tiner Ellet right no so we start walking we're literally on the side of the highway which is super dangerous and I really don't ever recommend walking on the side of a highway but we're just walking and we're like okay like I see the Tanger Outlets like I see the stores but like they're sewer everywhere and we can't hop over it cuz it's too thick and we didn't even know what we were doing we walk for like a half an hour at least and then we start on this ramp and we're like okay we're like way too far into the highway like there's no way we're going to get here from there so we go all the way back and so when we're halfway back we're like you know what we spent all this time walking we're still going to go let's try and hop over the sewer right terrible idea once again cuz there was an entrance like we didn't have to hop over a fence or anything we just had to get past the sewer water so I try getting over it I'm like stepping as close to the water as I can and then my feet just sink in to this sewage mud and I ruin my sneakers and at that point I'm like I'm done we're going back to the hotel I'm staking my feet and we're still going shopping cuz there's no way I was going to let these stupid Tanger Outlets and their stupid sewage filed moat get in the way of my day so we go to the tanker outlets and we go shopping we just like walked around and bought stuff and checked out the shops I bought like $50 worth of boots and I bought these gorgeous Isabelle Lightwood boots they're high heeled they're knee high they're perfect and then I returned them like 10 minutes later I don't normally like return stuff but I was like you know I should really be using this money for other stuff I'm going to want to buy books and merch and food cuz food's important so I returned them I ended up buying a sweater but um that was our day right you think it would be over at that point so to wrap up this Thursday that was just a M of unnecessary walking we're trying to get to Chipotle cuz youall know how much I love Chipotle and it's in like the Tanger Outlets Center like there's a Tanger Outlets and there's like a parking lot and then there's like all food places so we're following Siri again which was mistake number two we're walking for at least like another at least like 25 minutes and we're still not Chipotle and it says we passed Chipotle and I really don't understand what's going on with Siri in South Carolina but you need to update your shit we finally get to Chipotle we're like delusional from walking for like 3 hours unnecessarily so by that point we're exhausted we Uber back to the hotel and we just chill for the rest of the night and that was Thursday now we get to Friday which was the y'all crawl and the y'all crawl is basically a selection of authors from the actual Festival um and they do a bunch of signings and the cool thing about yest is like it's not in like a Convention Center or like a high school campus or anything like that it's like all spread out around like a specific area of Charleston so like there were signings in the public library and in a dut shop and in an ice cream shop it was super cool cuz that way we got to see Charleston and so that day we head into downtown Charleston to go to the Y crawl and we end up meeting up with a lot of booktubers side note I'm probably going to forget to mention every single booktuber I hung out with this weekend but every single person will be linked below so if you're interested on seeing the people I hung out with and checking out their channels they'll all be in the description but basically we go to this like outdoor Market that was super cute we didn't spend a lot of time there but it was like just like a meeting point for like me Michael and then we met up with Monica and Lanie and Sam and Connor and Liz and a couple of other people this is why I'm linking everyone but basically we're just walking around waiting for the Y call to start and we ended up meeting up with Jesse Cat and Christine and they got milkshakes and then we ended up not doing much at the y' crawl I did get two signings which is good so the first allor I at this weekend is leardo and so I got Shadow and Bone signed for her which is really cool cuz I absolutely loved Shadow and Bone I haven't completed the grea trilogy yet but I will one day and then I also bought this beautiful copy of six of crows by Bir Go to get signed and she signed this one too and she wrote be dangerous and I'm not sure whether it has to do with the book but I will know soon because I'm super excited to read six Crow and so actually while we were online for the leardo signing we got into this room and then they shut the door behind us and cut the line off and we're like some of the last people in the room so I'm like a sweet like today's going to work out so good and then all of a sudden this woman comes around with bracelets and is like Lee has to go to a panel or she had to go somewhere um they're going to resume the signing later so I just had to wait like an hour to get the signing which was fine but I met her she was super super cool super funny and then that day there was also a relle me signing and you guys know how much I love Vampire Academy I have already met relle me before but when I met her I had only read Vampire Academy and I hadn't finished the whole series and now it was super nice to go and meet her after reading the whole series she was actually only supposed to have like a 75 person signing beforehand before like we had to take that break but at the end like they weren't even caring like about the wrist fand so I like just hopped on Melle me's line and got to meet her and she signed last sacrifice for me and it say to Emma thanks for reading Michelle me and she was super cool she actually gave me like a bag a tote bag I'm going to show you guys later at the end of it she was like do you want a chapter sampler for my new book because like I don't want it like she didn't need a chapter sampler of her own book so she gave me like this bag and it came in with her chapter sampler and like an arc and then it came with a couple other things so I'm going to show that at the end so after that I ended up going with Michael and Sarah without an h and we ended up getting Greek food which is super good and so at that point cat from Kitty tastic had texted us and she was at an after party with like a bunch of authors cuz they were a guest at y'all Fest and she was like come hang out with us so we crashed the first y'all Fest after party Margo from edic Freeds was there and a couple of other people at Harper Collins which was super cool it was super intimidating like I've never been in like a professional setting with all of these authors before cuz you know when you're in a signing like you're free to Fang girl all over the place but there's just authors walking all over the place like Veronica Roth is standing right next to us and we're like holy shit what do we do um we didn't really do much we just stayed with like our group of booktubers but it was a lot of fun like I don't get to see all these book people that often so like when we were at a convention like spending extra time with them afterwards was really great at the end of the Afterparty we ended up going inside and trying to talk to people so like we talked to Lardo again I also like casually went up to Renee ad it was like hi like I love your book that's all I said but really I didn't know what else to say so I'm like content that I had the courage to go up and say that to her and then I was actually talking Alexander back for a while too and like a group of booktubers and so it was super cool just to like be in that environment like with all of these authors at y Fest it was super super cool that was definitely like one of my absolute favorite parts of the weekend was that really awesome author after party then we get to day three of the trip which was the biggest y'all Fest day so the y'all crawl was kind of like a mini version of everything that was going on on Saturday and Saturday was like signings and panels Galore so everything really started at like 10:00 so we get there at like 9:00 and there's already lines for everything like there were people online since 4:30 in the morning for glass sword arcs like what are you doing with your life um but I ended up hopp on the K cast line because she was an author that I really wanted to meet and then Michael went to sit on the Marissa Myer line for us and so I got the entire selection series by K cast signed I like could go through all of them but they're three books and like everyone looks the same they all say Emma and then they're sign car cast but she was super cute and sweet we talked about her kids cuz like I absolutely adore all the lunch photos that she posts on Instagram and it was a really great time and then I hopped on the Marissa my line with Michael and Michael had already been sitting there for an hour right so then eventually Sarah joined us and Moren joined does catch I and CHR were there for a little while um it was a lot of waiting I can't ever remember waiting that long in line for signing don't know how many more times I'd want to do that but mer was super cute and sweet and I got Cinder and winter signed by her and so Cinder just says to Emma mer Meer and then winter is cool because she wrote to Emma mer Meer but they also had a stamp that said join the resistance but it was worth it I mean this is the point of going to conventions it's just waiting in line and meeting authors and stuff so like it worked out pretty well and then did anything happen in between lunch and like later I don't really think so and so after lunch it was super close to the time that we had the booksplosion Q&A coming up which was basically like the book yoube Meetup of y'all Fest and it was almost two which meant the 1:00 Zack Brewer signing was still going on so I was like you guys go to the book to panel I'll catch up cuz I really want to meet Zack Brewer so I met Zack Brewer for those of you who don't know Zack Brewer is the author of The Chronicles of vlir Todd series which is my like favorite middle grade ever I love it so much I don't generally talk about it a lot on this channel but I love The Chronicles of Vladimir Todd so much and so I don't have this book with me but I did get a copy of the first book Eighth Grade Bites for my boyfriend cuz I wanted uh Zach R to sign it cuz my boyfriend is the person who got me to read these books so I was like I'm at a book convention like let me be the best reader girlfriend in the entire world and I'll get him a book Sign start him on his own collection and so he was only able to personalize one so I sacrificed my personalization for Doug and so Doug's book says to Doug May the fangs be with you and like he drew fangs and it says say Zack Brewer but they just are signed Zach and they have Fang and it's super cute um he was awesome but it was amazing to meet Zack Brewer I'm so so happy that was like a last minute signing I got to run to and that was the end of the signings for Saturday but there was still a lot of stuff going on and so then we get to the book exposion Q&A and I arrive a little late but they're still answering questions and there were a lot of people there every time I go to like these conventions like it amazes me how many people watch and do book Tu so we like just kind of snuck in Pat and Jesse were there answering questions it was super cool because I'm used to seeing them like on panels so like it's a moderator asking them questions and they're usually like the same kind of thing like how did you start your channel what are your favorite books blah blah blah but this was more like the viewers ask them questions and so it was super interesting to see what everyone wanted to know about them and then they played this super cool game called nerd off and it was basically like somebody from the audience was to come up and like answer questions versing explosion Jesse lost miserably I think cat won cat did win and I'm sure Christine won cuz she's pretty competitive I don't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure Christin one but it was just super cool and then like everyone was just hanging out after I got to speak with the book Archer big hair books if I'm correct also Boon tune books I'm like butchering your names right now I'm really sorry and a girl named Deja came up to me and so I got to meet a lot of you guys which was pretty cool but that is like the best part of these book two meetups it's getting to meet my friends that I haven't seen in a while or meeting you guys and so after like the whole book Meetup had cleared out we went to the closing ceremony um and so the people who went to the closing ceremony were me Michael Moren Connor Monica Sarah I think Emily and Jenna were there too I don't remember everyone but again like I'm like blanking on everyone but again everyone's going to be linked below whether I mentioned doing this video or not the closing keynot was cool I hadn't read anything from Brandon Sanderson or Brandon mole but they were both really funny and had like good chemistry on stage together so the closing key note was cool afterwards those of us who didn't have tickets to the ya Smackdown we just kind of chilled outside waiting for everyone to get out so we can go get dinner afterwards then like this whole mass of like 15 booktubers went not to dinner which was really nice we went to this super cute uh Southern Kitchen called Justine where we had these gigantic portions of fried chicken like I don't think you understand how much Fried Chicken we actually had at that table but it was like super cool to spend more time with all of them and then we also got ice cream at this place called Jenny's and that was Saturday of y'all Fest and so then we got to Sunday which was basically just me and Michael coming home and you know we're just thinking like we're going to be bored and tired and just sitting in an airport for two hours when all of a sudden Veronica Rob walks right next to us so like we are here sitting at like a table and she's like right here and we're like oh my God like do we say something we've had like seven chances to say something this whole trip do we say something to her then Michael Michael being Michael drops his phone and says oh my God and she basically runs away she got scared away we didn't get to say hi but we saw her which was super cool I had tweeted that I thought she was on her plane cuz she was sitting with Margot and Elizabeth from epic reads and I knew they were going to New York but the Chicago terminal was really close so she was just sitting with them so she didn't get on her plane but I just thought it was super cool that Veronica Rob was in like breathing distance of us again it was super cool so basically that is my experience cool though I haven't heard of this before but maybe I'll check them out now and then this is a bookmark for the fifth wave movie which I'm super excited for and then on the back it just has all the different covers and I actually haven't seen the last star cover yet so like that was cool yeah so like those are the bookmarks and then I also got a few chapter Samplers so this one is from those Star Wars books that I'm sure you guys hearing about um one of them is written by Alexander fren one of them is by Adam gidwitz and one is by Tom Angleberger Adam gwis was actually goist I think and I wish IID had this beforehand cuz I would have had inside the chapter sampler and then I have an ember of the ashes which I already have a full book but it came in a bag um then I have this is fairy tales are awesome not really sure what it's from but it's from penguin so it just looks like a little cute book of like fairy tales and then this is the new relle me chap sample it's 12 chapters from her new uh book coming out called the glittering Court I haven't read the synopsis yet I forgot what it's like but she signed this one too so like it's cool that I have like a chapter sampler signed even if it's not the real book so those are a few chapter Samplers and then this was the bag that Michelle me gave me with her chapter sampler and like all that stuff I had before so it says we are what you read and it's from penguin and then it says Stay Gold Pony Boy Stay Gold which is from The Outsiders so I love going to book conventions and getting more totes so this is a nice tote and then I did get one Arc at this convention and it is Ruda sepes um it's the author of between sheets gray and it's for their new book salt to the Sea this is historical fiction and I actually don't read a lot of historical fiction but I'm like looking to get more into it so I might check out this one I wasn't even like expecting get to get knock so like it's cool that I have fun um this video was way I'm like content that I had the courage to go up and say that to her and then I was actually talking Alexander back for a while too and like a group of booktubers and so it was super cool just to like be in that environment like with all of these authors at y Fest it was super super cool that was definitely like one of my absolute favorite parts of the weekend was that really awesome author after party then we get to day three of the trip which was the biggest y'all Fest day so the y'all crawl was kind of like a mini version of everything that was going on on Saturday and Saturday was like signings and panels Galore so everything really started at like 10:00 so we get there at like 9:00 and there's already lines for everything like there were people online since 4:30 in the morning for glass sword arcs like what are you doing with your life um but I ended up hopp on the K cast line because she was an author that I really wanted to meet and then Michael went to sit on the Marissa Myer line for us and so I got the entire selection series by K cast signed I like could go through all of them but they're three books and like everyone looks the same they all say Emma and then they're sign car cast but she was super cute and sweet we talked about her kids cuz like I absolutely adore all the lunch photos that she posts on Instagram and it was a really great time and then I hopped on the Marissa my line with Michael and Michael had already been sitting there for an hour right so then eventually Sarah joined us and Moren joined does catch I and CHR were there for a little while um it was a lot of waiting I can't ever remember waiting that long in line for signing don't know how many more times I'd want to do that but mer was super cute and sweet and I got Cinder and winter signed by her and so Cinder just says to Emma mer Meer and then winter is cool because she wrote to Emma mer Meer but they also had a stamp that said join the resistance but it was worth it I mean this is the point of going to conventions it's just waiting in line and meeting authors and stuff so like it worked out pretty well and then did anything happen in between lunch and like later I don't really think so and so after lunch it was super close to the time that we had the booksplosion Q&A coming up which was basically like the book yoube Meetup of y'all Fest and it was almost two which meant the 1:00 Zack Brewer signing was still going on so I was like you guys go to the book to panel I'll catch up cuz I really want to meet Zack Brewer so I met Zack Brewer for those of you who don't know Zack Brewer is the author of The Chronicles of vlir Todd series which is my like favorite middle grade ever I love it so much I don't generally talk about it a lot on this channel but I love The Chronicles of Vladimir Todd so much and so I don't have this book with me but I did get a copy of the first book Eighth Grade Bites for my boyfriend cuz I wanted uh Zach R to sign it cuz my boyfriend is the person who got me to read these books so I was like I'm at a book convention like let me be the best reader girlfriend in the entire world and I'll get him a book Sign start him on his own collection and so he was only able to personalize one so I sacrificed my personalization for Doug and so Doug's book says to Doug May the fangs be with you and like he drew fangs and it says say Zack Brewer but they just are signed Zach and they have Fang and it's super cute um he was awesome but it was amazing to meet Zack Brewer I'm so so happy that was like a last minute signing I got to run to and that was the end of the signings for Saturday but there was still a lot of stuff going on and so then we get to the book exposion Q&A and I arrive a little late but they're still answering questions and there were a lot of people there every time I go to like these conventions like it amazes me how many people watch and do book Tu so we like just kind of snuck in Pat and Jesse were there answering questions it was super cool because I'm used to seeing them like on panels so like it's a moderator asking them questions and they're usually like the same kind of thing like how did you start your channel what are your favorite books blah blah blah but this was more like the viewers ask them questions and so it was super interesting to see what everyone wanted to know about them and then they played this super cool game called nerd off and it was basically like somebody from the audience was to come up and like answer questions versing explosion Jesse lost miserably I think cat won cat did win and I'm sure Christine won cuz she's pretty competitive I don't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure Christin one but it was just super cool and then like everyone was just hanging out after I got to speak with the book Archer big hair books if I'm correct also Boon tune books I'm like butchering your names right now I'm really sorry and a girl named Deja came up to me and so I got to meet a lot of you guys which was pretty cool but that is like the best part of these book two meetups it's getting to meet my friends that I haven't seen in a while or meeting you guys and so after like the whole book Meetup had cleared out we went to the closing ceremony um and so the people who went to the closing ceremony were me Michael Moren Connor Monica Sarah I think Emily and Jenna were there too I don't remember everyone but again like I'm like blanking on everyone but again everyone's going to be linked below whether I mentioned doing this video or not the closing keynot was cool I hadn't read anything from Brandon Sanderson or Brandon mole but they were both really funny and had like good chemistry on stage together so the closing key note was cool afterwards those of us who didn't have tickets to the ya Smackdown we just kind of chilled outside waiting for everyone to get out so we can go get dinner afterwards then like this whole mass of like 15 booktubers went not to dinner which was really nice we went to this super cute uh Southern Kitchen called Justine where we had these gigantic portions of fried chicken like I don't think you understand how much Fried Chicken we actually had at that table but it was like super cool to spend more time with all of them and then we also got ice cream at this place called Jenny's and that was Saturday of y'all Fest and so then we got to Sunday which was basically just me and Michael coming home and you know we're just thinking like we're going to be bored and tired and just sitting in an airport for two hours when all of a sudden Veronica Rob walks right next to us so like we are here sitting at like a table and she's like right here and we're like oh my God like do we say something we've had like seven chances to say something this whole trip do we say something to her then Michael Michael being Michael drops his phone and says oh my God and she basically runs away she got scared away we didn't get to say hi but we saw her which was super cool I had tweeted that I thought she was on her plane cuz she was sitting with Margot and Elizabeth from epic reads and I knew they were going to New York but the Chicago terminal was really close so she was just sitting with them so she didn't get on her plane but I just thought it was super cool that Veronica Rob was in like breathing distance of us again it was super cool so basically that is my experience at y'all Fest I have a few more things that I want to show you um because they're not like signed books but they're just like merch and like stuff that I got so first of all I bought these ridiculous y' Fest pants look at them they're blue and yellow and so y' festy I actually like don't even know what half of these things say let me read them this says Bookworm I heart my a so many books so little time y'all Fest and that has like the y'all Fest symbol eat sleep read and then at the bottom it says Charleston South Carolina and then it says the book was better the book was better these are super comfy and I love them this is like such a Keepsake for me like I'm not going to like wear them in public but they're like super comfy pajama pants and I love them when I was online for the K cast signing there were people giving out these gold foil tattoos but they're Mortal Instruments so of course I had to pick up one I really love these they're super cute I'm totally going to use them they're so shiny and I got some bookmarks so this one is a y'all Fest bookmark I don't really know what it says on it but it says a lot of stuff then on the back it has like the pencil that was from their symbol it says y'all Fest Charleston Young Adult Book Festival and the dates then I have like three of the siren bookmarks which is car cast's new series that's coming out um and then this one says when four friends dig up longberry Secrets they unleash something they can't control virals oh this is for a series called virals by Kathy W and Brendan W the covers of these books look super cool though I haven't heard of this before but maybe I'll check them out now and then this is a bookmark for the fifth wave movie which I'm super excited for and then on the back it just has all the different covers and I actually haven't seen the last star cover yet so like that was cool yeah so like those are the bookmarks and then I also got a few chapter Samplers so this one is from those Star Wars books that I'm sure you guys hearing about um one of them is written by Alexander fren one of them is by Adam gidwitz and one is by Tom Angleberger Adam gwis was actually goist I think and I wish IID had this beforehand cuz I would have had inside the chapter sampler and then I have an ember of the ashes which I already have a full book but it came in a bag um then I have this is fairy tales are awesome not really sure what it's from but it's from penguin so it just looks like a little cute book of like fairy tales and then this is the new relle me chap sample it's 12 chapters from her new uh book coming out called the glittering Court I haven't read the synopsis yet I forgot what it's like but she signed this one too so like it's cool that I have like a chapter sampler signed even if it's not the real book so those are a few chapter Samplers and then this was the bag that Michelle me gave me with her chapter sampler and like all that stuff I had before so it says we are what you read and it's from penguin and then it says Stay Gold Pony Boy Stay Gold which is from The Outsiders so I love going to book conventions and getting more totes so this is a nice tote and then I did get one Arc at this convention and it is Ruda sepes um it's the author of between sheets gray and it's for their new book salt to the Sea this is historical fiction and I actually don't read a lot of historical fiction but I'm like looking to get more into it so I might check out this one I wasn't even like expecting get to get knock so like it's cool that I have fun um this video was way too long y us was awesome I had so much fun I would love to see you next year let me know if you went to yest
