Creating a Delicious and Heavenly Salad: A Recipe by Adina
I'm Adina, and today I'm excited to share with you my brother-in-law's recipe for a mouth-watering Spanish salad with heavenly London broil. Our family loves to have cooking competitions, and this dish was created as a result of one such competition. My brother-in-law took the challenge and came up with this incredible recipe that we all just can't get enough of.
To start, let's begin with the meat – the star of our show, the London broil. You'll need to take your London broil and put it in a ziplock bag. Now, add some soy sauce, honey, oil, two cloves of frozen garlic, and a sprinkle of rosemary and freshly ground black pepper. Close the bag and let it marinate – the longer it marinates, the more flavorful your meat will be.
Next, we'll move on to our dressing. This is where things get really interesting. We have some garlic powder, black pepper, salt, red wine vinegar, oil, and a unique ingredient – brown sugar. Yes, you read that right – brown sugar in a salad dressing! Don't worry; it's not as weird as it sounds, and it actually adds a depth of flavor to our dish.
Now, take your dressing jar and add the ingredients listed above. Close the lid tightly and screw on the cover. Don't forget to shake it up – you can do this under my watchful eye for as long as you want. Once you've shaken it, we're ready to move on to the next step.
Time to grill our meat! Take your ziplock bagged London broil and place it on the grill for about 10-15 minutes, or until it's cooked to your liking. Make sure to flip it over halfway through cooking – you don't want any uneven cooking. Once it's done, let it rest for a few minutes before slicing it thinly.
Now that our meat is ready, we can start assembling our salad. First, we'll need some greens. I'm using a bowl of fresh spinach as the base of my salad. Next, add your dressing – don't be shy; you want a good amount of that heavenly sauce throughout your salad. Now it's time for the toppings: roasted sweet potato, purple onion, mandarin oranges, and slivered almonds.
What really makes this salad pop is the presentation. Take a wonton bowl and fill it with some spinach. Arrange your toppings in a visually appealing way – I like to place my mansion (mandarin) oranges in the center of the bowl, followed by the sweet potato slices on either side. Add some purple onion slices around the edges, and sprinkle those slivered almonds all over the top.
Finally, slice that London broil thinly and lay it out on top of your salad. Make sure to let it rest before slicing – you want the juices to stay in there and not spill all over your delicious creation. Take a moment to pour some more dressing on top, just a little bit at first. Then, sprinkle those almonds (or whatever nut you prefer) over the top.
And that's it! A simple, easy-to-make salad with everything you need for a complete meal – protein, starch, and of course, delicious flavors. Bon appétit, everyone!
I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as my family does. Remember, cooking is all about experimentation and having fun in the kitchen. Don't be afraid to try new ingredients or adjust the seasoning to your liking. Happy cooking!
