The Geneva Motor Show Roundup
As I walked around the Geneva Motor Show, I couldn't help but notice that there were some really good cars on display. The Mitsubishi Eclipse is one such car that caught my attention, and it's clear that it will be a rival to the Nissan Kashai. I also saw the Subaru XV, which looked interesting although I didn't get to drive it or see the new model.
Another car that I missed was the Voxal well Opal Grand Sport, but luckily I'll be driving it next week. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see the Lamborghini Huracan Performante, nor the Skoda Octavia vRS. However, I did get to see the Honda Civic Type-R, which was quite impressive despite its ugly design. Speaking of exciting cars, there were a couple on the Mercedes stand that caught my attention.
The Mercedes E63 AMG Sport is a super powerful car with all-wheel drive and a clever drift mode. The real excitement, however, lies in the MG GT concept, which hints at the next CLS. It's not a super sports car, but rather a sporty four-door coupe. This design language will likely carry over into the next CLS.
I took a closer look at the rear end of the MG GT concept, and while it's very concept-like, I can kind of imagine how the body work could evolve into something production-ready. However, the wheels on this car are quite questionable – they're massive alloy wheels that seem to be a staple of concept cars these days. I managed to find another car with even bigger rims, which was intriguing.
The Infinity Project Black S is another car that caught my eye, but its size and styling choices leave me underwhelmed. The rear end of this car looks a bit overdone, and the wheels are so large that they'll likely rub against the arches of most cars. If you're into that sort of thing, I suppose it's impressive.
On the other hand, there was another Japanese luxury car that I was able to buy – the Lexus LS 500h. This massive sedan looks like a bit of a barge, and while I appreciate its size, I'm more of a small car kind of guy. That's why I was excited to see what Citen had on its stand.
Citen, however, seems to be a firm that specializes in making practical hatchbacks seem interesting, so their new Aircross concept is definitely worth checking out. This car is essentially the next C3 Picasso, with the same design language but some key differences. I was impressed by how close it is to production-ready, especially the bump at the bottom of the rear end.
Finally, I visited the Volvo booth and took a look at their new XC60. After years of anticipation, this car has finally arrived, and it's clear that it will be Volvo's bestseller. The design language is similar to the XC90, but with some key differences – it rides slightly lower and has a more angular look. Inside, it's very similar to the XC90, with a light interior and plenty of room in both front seats.
The only downside is that you can't get the new XC60 with six-cylinder engines; instead, it'll be offered with 4-cylinder diesel and petrol options, as well as an m-hybrid system. The T8 plug-in hybrid option will start at around £37,000. If you're interested in buying a new car, including the Volvo XC60, you can check out offers on car.co.uk.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi guys how you all doing now I'm sure you're aware that it's been the Geneva motor show this week and I thought I'd take you over a tour of it so you don't have to leave the comfort of your computer and you can still see all the cars now I'm going to reveal in this video my style of the show and pretty much every car that was there but to tell you the truth the day didn't get off to a great start I was staying up in the Alps and when I woke up in the morning about 6:00 there was snow everywhere I thought I was going to be stranded fortunately I was in a BMW 520 d x drive on winter tires and so managed to make it down the mountain safely I managed to get to the show for about 7:30 a.m. so pretty early but already there's still plenty of people there now I'm going to head down into the Press Center and hopefully there's going to be some seats cuz it can get quite busy very early on so let's see there quite literally no places to sit at all I mean everything so they got one sat in it a computer at it a coat on it I mean it's like trying to get a a Sun Lounge in tenner reef and everyone's got their towel on the beds already just no where in the end I just gave up and decided to head into the main show Hall you know was still early doors and the press conferences were just staring ladies and gentlemen the new 911 GT3 our Motorsport inspired cars are more than just a badge and the name the new GT3 is built in the same facility as our GT3 cup cars I couldn't get anywhere near that bloing in Porsche stand it was totally ran so I decided to get a quick bite to eat and I found some German Vice sausage which was a bit weird but still quite nice and then headed to another manufacturer stand which had already done its press conference and can you guess which one that was yeah Audi likes to do things first so this new RS5 gets a 2.9 V6 petrol engine it's got two turbos on it and it's got 450 horsepower which is exactly the same as the old RS5 the interesting thing is though that it's got 600 newton meters of torque that's up 170 new M the all car us have 430 so quite a big leap in pulling power I'm not actually the biggest fan of how the new A5 looks I think it's a bit tame but they've done a good job on the RS5 I think of like sprucing it up a bit making it a bit more exciting let see if I can get into this thing I'm not sure whether you can get in it let's see might be open might not be there we go have a look inside yeah that Caron F was bound to be an option because bluming shed load no doubt it's got the RS seats in it I think these will be an option as well they're hard backed it's very much looking 35ish but with those RS upgrades RS mats big aluminum pedal flat bottom steering wheel alcantar on it even alcantar on here which is quite cool look and the gear selector this is interesting though got a carbon fiber roof this one's on carbon Ceramics you can see there needless to say all that carbon stuff on the car I saw was it was all optional extras I mean they do that on show stands to try and show off all the kit you can get on the car I me fair enough I also saw another car on the Audi stand it was the Q8 sport concept now I'm not normally a fan of concept cars because they're just like some te's that you're never going to see but this one will actually spawn a real production car now I was just talking to a guy Audi and he's saying that yeah lots of the panels look a bit concepted like this stuff but the sheet metal is what's going to happen with the production car the Q8 when it goes on sale have a look inside the cabin little bit of an evees dropping on an interview with Audi's chief designer there look at the front of it it's pretty bluming bold oh my God look at that just when he thought an Audi grill couldn't get any bigger they managed to make it huge after the the Audi stand I went and checked out the Ford stand to see the new Fiesta ST which has a 3-cylinder 1.5 L Turbo with 200 horsepower and I thought you know for a hot Ford it looked a little bit tame then I moved on to the Jaguar land dver stand I saw an orange eyce actually saw the original ey past when they first unveiled it in LA but this one was much brighter wow I also had another look at the Range Rover V and I'd seen that the week before at a special unveiling in London but hadn't been able to get anywhere near the car and this time I could actually have a look in to see the two screen infotainment system which was pretty impressive I did have to force some journalist out the way though but that's just the way it is at the Geneva Motor Show by this time the Porsche stand had actually cleared so I could get and have a look at their cars now one of them was the new GT3 911 so it's got a naturally aspirated engine which is good cuz most Porsches now durbo it's got 500 horsepower and unlike the old GT3 you can get it with a manual gearbox but that wasn't actually the car I was most interested in this Porsche paname sport Turismo just looks way better than the normal Panamera that state like R really does work problem with the normal paname is the fact they're trying to make it look like a 9/11 at the back end and just the shape is too long for that guys but yeah this it's lovely look at this poor guy trying to do a piece of the camera all in sunry just getting in the way tell you what it's a bluming nightmare filming at motor shows now one of the good things about a motor show and Geneva in particular cuz it's quite small is that you can go from looking at a luxury limousine to a small super mini and then to some crazy hyper car all within just a few steps now here's a really interesting car The Pagani wire Roadster look at that absolutely adore the detail on this car you can actually see the carbon fiber do the lacker it's a blue carbon fiber attention to detail on this thing is incredible rible I've just been listening to the conversation of this guy here actually so he's he's a prospective buyer check out his shoes now that chap he didn't just have wacky shoes he also had a rather interesting bag which was made by Bugatti now I bet that wasn't cheap you actually get to see some really interesting people at motor shows and I saw another one on the perso stand it was J Vidal the head of design and he was inside the new Instinct concept but you know that's a concept it's never going to be made so I decided to go see a car which you can actually buy and that was on the BMW stand the only car that BMW is showing at the Geneva mot show is this the Five series touring there you go have a look at it now I'd probably buy it over the 5 series Saloon which I really like but the added practicality of this would be very very useful now some stands are harder to get on than others forari for instance there's always a massive queue especially when they've got a new car to show off such as the 812 super fast and yeah it can be really difficult to get on the Ferrari St fortunately I had a bit of luck it's never easy to get on a Ferrari stand but that was that was surprisingly simple thankfully I managed to spot the UK quite early on so there wasn't too much hanging around but yes they're very selective about who gets on here now you wouldn't think they'd let a boy from wara anywhere near a brand new Ferrari but they did still I need to be brought back down to earth and find something I could actually afford oh look it's the new K Picanto so look at this actually looks a decent size you know it's going to be cheap it's going to be cheerful probably be all right to drive look at that for city car it's all right for space in the back that is blimy press every button you can my friend press them all it's so funny the people do that there we go the Cano have a look at it over there being filmed by my cameraman Jack oh look at him work I always feel a little bit sorry for cameramen at motor shows because people are constantly getting in your way flip side though they always have cool cars to film such as the new McLaren 720s that car is going to set you back £235,000 but you know it can do 212 M hour but if it's an expensive car you want how about Aston Martin's new F1 car for the road which they built in conjunction with Red Bull now at the show they actually said it was going to be called the valky for those who want a sports car that's a bit more attainable there were a few on show the Alpine A10 Rena's little sports car in fact he launching the whole new brand looks really nice in white now one of the great things about the Geneva motor show is that you can be looking at a sports car then turn around and be faced with a car that your mother would probably buy and right next to the Alpine stand was the Nissan stand where they had the revised cash Kai now they've changed the front of it and the back of it but other than that it's pretty much the same as before which could pose a problem when perso are doing things that look super cool like the three 8 and that brings me on to French SUVs through here's a car that I've really been looking forward to see it's the ds7 crossback so this thing it's going to be a five- seater only and it's basically PSA going for the likes of you the Mercedes GLC the Audi Q5 the back end does look a little bit like the GLC to me I'm brutally honest in fact it's a bit like a GLC cross with a Renault what do you reckon do you see that or is it just me it's very bold I'm doing this you know it's a kind of thing that's either going to take off or well just basically prove that people don't want premium French Brands we shall see I actually wanted to film inside the car so I can show you guys what it looks like but that car was locked however I found another one just around the corner but it was actually being occupied by people doing an interview I mean trying to do an interview in a car on show day I mean that's just insane it's never going to work right let's see if we can have a quick inside this car I'm not sure if you can see can you see through the window wow look at size of that screen it is massive can we see good thing about an osmo have people coming basically people are fighting over this car which is a good sign it's a good sign but yeah it's really hard to do stuff at a motor show everyone wants a piece of the action don't they everyone want wants to get their story another thing about motor shows is that you soon have time if you're filming and there's quite a few cars that I didn't actually get to see such as the Volkswagen Aran which actually looks pretty cool there's a say I bether the new Suzuki Swift which I like the Suzuki Swift I think this is going to be a really good car and things like the Mitsubishi Eclipse which will be a rival to the Nissan kashai the Subaru XV now I didn't drive the old XV and I didn't even get to see this new one either there's also the voxal well opal Grand Sport but it doesn't matter I missed that cuz I'm actually going to be driving it next week I didn't get to see the Lamborghini hurac perform man nor the scod Octavia vrs I did see the Honda Civic typar and I have to say blow me neck that's pretty ugly so it should be pretty good to drive and speaking of Epic drives there's a couple of exciting cars on the Mercedes stand so you got the E63 amgs State same thing as a saloon super powerful all-wheel drive system that clever drift mode but the thing that's most interesting is actually this the a mg GT concept this pretty much hints at the next CLS so it's not a super sports car or anything like that it's a sporty four-door Coupe so yeah you can expect to see this design language follow through into the next CLS let's have a little look around the back of it yeah it's very very concept carry but you can kind of imagine the body work you know evolving into something that you can actually buy obviously not with those Wheels fact those wheels are awful those are probably the worst Wheels I've seen at this show all concept cars seem to have massive alloy wheels it's like sort of mandatory and I managed to find another with some pretty big rims now this kind of intrigues me it's an Infinity Project black s looks pretty badass look at the size of those rims though oh my gosh not just sure about the rear end it's a little bit overdone for that air oh my gosh and those rims what size are they jeez 21s it's just the way they're sitting solow there is not much room in the wheel Arch there couple of bumps you're going to be scrubbing your wheels on your arch for sure there was another Japanese luxury car which you could actually buy though you know I wasn't that impressed by it because it looked like a bit of a barge for those who don't want an S-Class or a 7 Series there's the new le LS 500h it's bloody massive look at the size of it tell you the truth I'm more of a small car kind of guy and so I was quite interested to see what citen had on its stand because you know this is a firm that can make practical hatchbacks seem kind of interesting so this will be the citan aircross concept and you can think of this as the next C3 Picasso apart from the rear pillar and the crazy shaped Alloys this is probably pretty much productive even the a bumps at the bottom might not have the holiday one but yeah very close to production this and really for me it's the production cars which are the most interesting and that brings me on to my star of the Geneva motor show over here we have the new Volvo XC60 now this car has been a long time coming for Volvo and it's going to be their bestseller it's a great looking thing like the way you got the Thor hammer headlamps just like on the XC90 only they actually extend towards the grill like that rides slightly lower than the XC90 but it's still got the same kind of design language to it inside it's pretty sweet this one's got a light interior I'm try not to get in the way of this camera man but let you have a quick look inside there you go very very similar to the XC90 back seats as well there we go quite room it's a 5- seater only this boot nice and square it's not quite as big on a Q5 but we're talking about 45 L down so not that important maybe get away with it but yeah there we go I'm looking there very nice looking car they're going to sell loads of these the only downside is that you can't get it with 6-cylinder engines it's 4- cylinder only so 2 L 4 cylinder diesel 2 L 4 cylinder petrol you can get one m to Electric hybrid system in the T8 plugin it's going to start from around 37,000 buy now if you're interested now if you click up there you can compare offers on the new Volvo and any new new car for that matter at car. co.uk anyway that's the end of my Geneva Motor
