iOS 11 Beta 3 _ What's new

iOS 11 Beta 3 Release: A Comprehensive Tour of New Features

Hey what's up guys, it's Stephen C of Ma here and iOS 11 beta 3 has just been released to developers. A little over two weeks since beta 2, so it's safe to say we're going to be seeing new betas for iOS 11 every fortnight or so. But in this video, I'm going to give you a tour of everything that's new in iOS 11 beta 3, so let's get started as per usual with each beta.

Apple has always been committed to providing further stability improvements with each beta, and this time around is no exception. There's even less bugs this time around as you'd expect. I've seen a few people comment online that are running it on the older lower spec devices such as the iPhone 5S saying that it's a big step up for them from betas 1 and two. Doing tasks such as dragging apps about on moving them into folders are a lot smoother and more responsive. These were a little bit laggy previously, but with this update, they're now much better.

The new cover sheet of notification center has been reworked so that now all notifications are visible as soon as you swipe it down. This is a nice change from the previous spacers where you had to swipe up to see your notifications. Apple has also changed how the Wi-Fi toggle works in control center. Now, when you press the Wi-Fi button, control center disconnects you from the current network and disables Wi-Fi. This is similar to what was done in iOS 10. However, unlike before, now when you press the Wi-Fi button, it only disconnects you from the current network.

In addition to these changes, iOS 11 beta 3 has also added new Siri voices for both genders of Brazilian Portuguese, Canadian French, Dutch, and Swedish. There are also new female voices available for English and Mexican Spanish. Siri is also a better travel companion with this update, as translation request support has been added for English to Chinese, Spanish, German, French, and Italian. Although it's not working for British English just yet. The new 3D touch interface for the camera app within control center offers options for taking a selfie, recording video, recording slow-mo, and taking a standard photo. Smart invert now works a little bit better, but there's still some work to be done in terms of getting the colors of icons right.

Another great addition to this update is the new one-handed Maps mode. For iPad users, you can double tap and then on the last tap keep your finger on the screen and swipe up and down to zoom in and out. This feature makes it much easier to navigate using just your thumb. In multitasking mode, you can now dismiss cards by swiping up instead of having to press and hold or hit the X button.

Apple has also added some new features for networking and AR kit for developers. Plus, Safari Services has now added a new API for authentication flow for onboarding. This means that if a user is logged into a web app, they won't have to enter their password after updating the native app. Speaking of which, I wanted to point out that there's still one feature that was present in beta 2 but not in this update: the new tab view in Safari when it's in landscape mode. Unfortunately, that's no longer here.

Overall, iOS 11 beta 3 is shaping up to be a solid release with many exciting features and improvements. If you've downloaded this update and found any other features that I haven't mentioned yet, please let me know all about them in the comments section below. And don't forget to hit that like button if you enjoyed this video. As always, thanks for watching and I'll catch you in the next one.
