Building a Gaming Rig with the Corsair Y40 Case
When it comes to building a gaming rig, one of the most important factors to consider is the case. The Corsair Y40 case is a mid-Tower that stands out from its competitors due to its unique design and premium features. In this article, we'll take a closer look at the Corsair Y40 case and explore its features, pros, and cons.
The first thing that caught our attention about the Corsair Y40 was its attention to detail. The frame of the filter is where you notice this attention to detail right. It's just something else that sets the Y40 apart from your standard average mid-Tower oh you know I just realized I don't know why I didn't think about this any sooner the clearance of the CPU and this fat 4080 when turned vertically just not uh that's not really working out I can't I can't install it actually at all I'm just clipping things so I think what I'm gonna I think it'll fit once it's actually set in there yeah it should definitely fit but we'll need to remove the CPU Cooler first to make enough room for this card's installation. Just why 40 things so again totally not the end of the world but just uh just another thing you'll have to worry about this case that is pretty unique to Heights latest all right so that's clipped in golly that looks super cool this is such a fat card but it just it just looks like it belongs the Shroud matches the rest of the case and we do have this ventilation again like I said so I don't imagine this card is going to struggle to breathe too much.
Okay, this uh this is a tighter fit than I thought we'd be dealing with uh yeah that I'm not even going to bother measuring that I we're talking about like maybe two millimeters like that's so so close uh it might even affect thermals a bit just because I mean if we're stressing the CPU heavily and the graphics card's just kind of chilling it might actually raise graphics card temps and vice versa just depending on the load because these are so close together they're not touching but again it's just um it's not ideal I think I might switch to like a top flow maybe a smaller top flow style CPU Cooler or just an AIO maybe I'll bite the bull and switch back to aios again but uh oh I won't roll with this for now maybe just uh do as I say and not as I do.
The last piece of this puzzle then supplemental power and yes make sure that this is pushed all the way in please don't start any fires now before we wrap this one up consider learning more about corsair's Xenon Flex OLED gaming monitor designed to be bendable by the user from Flat to a curve of 800r at 45 inches with its 21 I9 aspect it's sure to impress providing immersion when you need it and inclusivity when others also want to watch the baked in LG OLED technology is best in class with its 240Hz refresh rate incredible HDR and contrast and extremely fast created great response time of just 30 microseconds or 0.03 milliseconds coupled with Nvidia g-sync and AMD freesync premium certs you've got yourself one heck of a gaming monitor learn more about the Corsair Xenia on Flex 45wq HD 240 by clicking the link below.
All that's left to do now is power this thing on and I'll see if we can sync the RGB power back there the power Bud's actually low on this case let's see is that it oh yeah check it out love that I just I love how Sleek this build looks I decided to put some RGB fans in the back and I am just going to leave them the way they are actually set to White just so we have some Illumination in the case but I'm not going to throw a fancy RGB or any of that other stuff in here I just think it's a little too much for pretty much a blacked out build I really like this stealthy look and apart from the super close CPU graphics card clearance here everything else about this I'm actually really happy about tit's done a really great job distancing itself from other mainstream mid Tower competitors this case looks like nothing else with this footprint on the market to date an 011 Dynamic is not this small it's not this compact same goes for the y60 heights own larger version of this case it just has a lot larger footprint it'll take up a lot more space on your desk so if you're looking for something in the in zxt h510 category with something a bit more premium than that the y40 definitely delivers.
If you want to build a rig very similar to this one I'll try to have all these parts linked below as well and let me know what you think about this one again the clearance issues aside I really think it turned out well if you enjoyed watching this one let me know by giving it a thumbs up that would be greatly appreciated consider subscribing if you have not already and I will catch you in the next video.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey there this is the height y40 and ain't she a beauty I'm not gonna lie the y40 had me at the stock photos and look this isn't a sponsored video how it's not paying me to say any of this stuff I've just got to say First Impressions they they went a long way with this one and that's one of the reasons why I'm super excited to bring this video to you guys you can tell that they really took their time to break away from the traditional mid-tower mold you have the merging front and left tempered glass panels that look really clean you have very clean lines throughout I mean just look at this right side panel this is the inside of the right panel look at this you don't see this anywhere else and I think this is Height's way of differentiating themselves from already well established Brands remember this is really only Heights second or third case I mean at least recently and for them to more or less nail their first take at a mid Tower that's something to watch out for so I'm excited to bring this one to you I cannot wait to build in it and show you around are you ready stay with me to get rid of that annoying Windows activation Watermark head on over to VIP SCD key purchase a Windows 10 Pro OEM key for a fraction of the price of retail just use the secure payment method like PayPal enter your product key and your PC settings window and say bye to The Watermark and be sure to use our offer code skgs for a sew wheat discount let's kick things off then with a very quick POV of uh yeah just some of the case features to start out right away the big thing about the y40 it's also the case with the y60 the fact that you get an included Riser cable and well it's a good thing it's included because the only way to actually install a discrete graphics card that's a full-size card is to do so vertically see these slots back here yeah those are fixed you cannot rotate this entire bracket back to the traditional horizontal sense and you can see these smaller slots back here these are okay for you know expandable I don't know PCI storage drives and the like but your main card probably gonna sit there it's going to have to and that could be an issue if you have again other things you like slotting in under need your graphics card that said it is nice at least the height includes this out of the box you don't have to pay any extra for it and traditionally these costs in upwards of 40 50 60 bucks for good ones you are going to get two fans with this case they are both 120s and actually I'm going to swing around the back here very quickly yeah this is voltage only so that sucks the second fan by the way is underneath here and it's set to intake so you're gonna be pulling in fresh air from below this will be especially good for the graphics card because you've got these a little ventilation grooves running Atop The Basement near the front and this will provide fresh air for your graphics card as it's turned sideways I guess if I had to complain about one other thing it's the lack of rubber grommets you just got large cutouts I mean there's plenty of cutouts so you should have a problem with routing cables but it just looks slightly cheap here I mean it's not the end of the world again I'll gladly take this or at least a high quality one of these over rubber grommets but uh yeah it's not going to look the cleanest lastly here's a view from the right side you can see you've got a nice little indention here next to the motherboard tray this would be good for routing cables and the like you can can't really route stuff closer to the front and it's just because this bracket is so close to that right side panel you wouldn't want to put anything here anyway because you've got fans that are going to be pulling in air ideally so keep that in mind if you want the ideal airflow for this y40 you're going to need two extra fans and that's going to add a bit to the overall cost of this case we do have again that extra fan down below and you could I guess move that here if you wanted but then you might be hurting your graphics card temperatures also if you do shove cables down here make sure they don't get snagged in these fan blades just uh yeah just don't do that so the very first thing we need to do is remove this Riser Cable in preparation for the platform installation and this is just one simple screw in fact we can just kind of leave it here and that way we can bring the motherboard in on top of it ramming for a black aesthetic by the way in case that wasn't a parent any earlier come on get out of the way Riser cable nice and easy here this CPU Cooler by the way is definitely under kill for this sort of platform and installing things this way is far from ideal but it looks better for YouTube so why not a few moments later okay uh I gave up and laid the case down don't judge me that there should do it all right I've got to say it really looks like these components were made for each other already off to a very good start now I want to do a quick test fit because this I've got a 4k60 pro is like super important for a lot of what I do when I stream when I record from my desk I use this I run my uh a6600 into here so I've removed the back plate so it's not a full length expandable card any longer and I'm going to see if it'll fit underneath or behind that Riser Cable in the y40 it would be pretty clutch if so I'm not sure what I'm gonna do without it so let's see it's going to slot in like this almost and we'll just tuck it in oh so that actually works now it's not like mechanically fastened anywhere so that might be a bit of an issue long term I can't like bolt it to the back here but it it works I I think it fits we'll see it's also entirely possible that Elgato card included a smaller pcie thing and I just don't have it because I didn't keep the box in my infinite logic was taking care of some basic wiring and look what I ran into unified front panel connector nice to see others catching on here this USB 3.0 cable is sticking out dangerously far I don't know if we could even get 140s in here with how far this is sticking out it's really no one's fault I mean the motherboard manufacturer decided to turn this connector sideways and the case has this very strange cutout with not a lot of clearance between it and the fan so it is what it is let's go ahead and throw in some light wings 140s from be quiet the only thing I've done is removed the front sticker here on each and it's because they have the orange logo that I'm trying to get rid of color as much as possible here yeah this is uh this is bent a bit too far for my liking I think I'm going to need a 90 degree adapter for this USB 3.0 cable I wouldn't have this problem with 120s but I wanted 140s to make it look a little more filled out go ahead and get my two and a half inch SSD here installed I use this mainly for games in case you're wondering and now we can install our new power supply from NZXT this is that C 1200 gold I was telling you about with ATX 3 2.0 support in she goes let's move all these extra cables out of the way and we will cable manage as best we can here in this case just so we have a good idea how much space we're actually working with connect what needs connecting this 24 pin and now we cable manage and boy oh boy do we have a mess day two okay you ready this is what it looks like and uh well I think it turned out nice we have plenty of space I really don't have any issues stuffing cables down below try to even make that look as clean as I could and all we need to do now is connect that ATX 3.0 power cable to our graphics card which we also need to install but very quickly just a few things that I think the y40 does very well that are unique to this case the fact that you have these zip tie points that are actually on the back side of the case not against the motherboard tray makes it a bit easier to weave these zip ties around these cables you've got zip tie points here here and here at the rear of the case as well to Cable manage the cables are actually running to the back of your mother board that's pretty cool this top panel assembly super easy to remove totally tool-less and yeah you can access your bracket up top there you can see we've also got an integrated dust filter and lastly just some points for attention to detail you have two separate dust filters down here one obviously for that intake fan the other for a power supply fan side down they are both very easy to remove as well but check out this attention to detail right the just the cool design here of the frame of the filter each of these has this and it's just something else that sets the y40 apart from just your standard average mid Tower oh you know I just realized I don't know why I didn't think about this any sooner the clearance of the CPU and this fat 4080 when turned vertically just not uh that's not really working out I can't I can't stressing the CPU heavily and the graphics card's just kind of chilling it might actually raise graphics card temps and vice versa just depending on the load because these are so close together they're not touching but again it's just um it's not ideal I think I might switch to like a top flow maybe a smaller top flow style CPU Cooler or just an AIO maybe I'll bite the bull and switch back to aios again but uh oh I won't roll with this for now maybe just uh do as I say and not as I do the last piece of this puzzle then supplemental power and yes make sure that this is pushed all the way
