The Beauty of a Diamond in the Rough: A 1991 3000 GT VR4 Restoration Project

All right, is it now? Turn right. Yes, it is. Ah, there it goes. Ah, awesome. Awesome. Awesome. You have reached your's. The beauty on the left there she is. You have reached your destination. Oh yeah, look at it. Seriously, look at that. Woo! Take a look.

So, I got this 1991 3000 GT VR4 from a nice old gentleman. I bought it off of him, and let me tell you, it's been a wild ride so far. The car has seen better days, with 225,000 miles on it. I'm planning to tow it back to New Jersey and get it running as best I can. My plan is to just get it running and sell it to someone else who can take care of it. But hey, I'm excited about the potential of this car. It's a diamond in the rough, that's for sure.

As I was inspecting the car, I noticed some potential issues. The fuel system seemed a bit suspect, but I decided to investigate further. I found an external fuel sensor and signal sender that looked like it had been installed at some point. I'm not entirely sure what its purpose is or how it works, but I figured it was worth looking into. After a few minutes of tinkering, I managed to get the key turned over and the engine cranked up.

The car's electrical system seems a bit dodgy, with a bunch of warning lights flashing on the dashboard. But hey, that's not uncommon in older cars like this one. The good news is that the battery is new, which should help get us started. I connected the makeshift fuel pump and gave it a try. Unfortunately, the smell was pretty bad. It looked like there might have been some kind of pest problem in the car.

I took a step back and breathed deeply, trying to avoid getting too close to the source of the smell. The engine itself seemed to be running smoothly, but I couldn't shake the feeling that we were in for a wild ride. I connected the fuel pump again, and this time it started up with a bit more ease. It was clear that the car had some major issues, but I was determined to get it running.

As I stood there, trying to decide what to do next, a guy pulled up behind me in his 3000 GT VR4. He seemed friendly enough, and we struck up a conversation about our shared love of old cars. But as he drove off, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. Was this car going to make it? Only time would tell.

I decided to power wash the entire interior of the car, hoping to get some of the smell out of there. It was a long and arduous process, but eventually I managed to get the interior looking somewhat presentable again. The bumper seemed fine, although I did find a plastic thing on the floor that looked like it might be worth investigating further.

As I stood back and admired my handiwork, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride at what we'd accomplished. It may not have been the prettiest car in the world, but it was definitely a unique one. And who knows? Maybe with a bit of TLC and some good old-fashioned elbow grease, this 1991 3000 GT VR4 would become something truly special.

For now, though, I'm just going to take things one step at a time. I'll get the engine running, and see where we go from there. It's not going to be easy, but I'm up for the challenge. After all, that's what makes life interesting, right?

certain perks and uh one of those perks is you get something called press cars and my press car today is let's see if we can get that a 2016 Ram Rebel oh boy so this is the kind of sort of maybe competitor to the uh Ford SVT Raptor but it's not really I mean this is supposed to be a work truck uh and it looks great I mean uh you can see my my piece of crap Mercedes that needs a uh washing but I mean look I mean you have these nice cool exhaust tips you have this Rebel badge uh the ram is blacked out which is good cuz on the regular truck it's uh it's all nasty and chrome but take a look at this thing so you have a divider for the bed you have a nice bed liner this doesn't have any Eco diesel anything like that it has a 5.7 L Hemi V8 gas power it's all you need and uh yeah let's let's see how it drives o That's nice this is a little bit uh I don't know color clashes a little bit for me but it ain't bad um this is not leather it's it's like a covered fabric sort vinyl thing but it it looks very resilient it's very soft and I I really am digging this this uh I don't know if you call it stitching embroidering or something but it's it's it's freaking awesome one thing that's a little weird on this car is uh the key so this is the key it's a regular like Mercedes diimler key that uh like my Mercedes has a key very similar to this the problem is there's no actual hole it's like you have to fill it into a slot and the the slot is very like they don't give you a lot of space to to put the key in so it's like if you want to put it in like that let me see if I can get a better angle yeah if you want to put it in like that it doesn't go in like that it doesn't go in but it's like you have to okay got it in there and oo Rebel ooh check this out let's you get a luxury truck and this is an arrow mode um this truck has leveling suspension like it has um not self-leveling probably does have self-leveling but it has these uh you can raise and lowered suspension like a like a low rider so I can I can put it up one and now it's it's raising and it'll go into I believe this is normal mode yeah normal and you raise it one more and it goes into uh off-road we ain't taking no from nobody mode and I think that is speed limited like if you go tooo fast in off-road mode it'll just uh go back into normal mode so uh we're going to be doing some Highway cruising today so um I'm going to put it in Arrow mode because we want to be aerodynamic we're loading up for adventure yeah uh I have a long you have a long Phillips okay so we got uh some water and that's pretty much it one cool thing about this truck is look at that oh toolbox look at this yeah good good space a ram box there's a ram box all right so there's those tools that's it I have a tool box you want to bring that uh no I don't think I don't think we're going to need it that is one sexy Jeep I hope those people uh behind you know that their tire is impossibly flat I didn't notice them when I came earlier he look at that that's uh that's ex-girlfriend right there here you go okay a Jeep style Charger with that is isolators and it still works okay well it's it's not a fire hazard so this truck is in Arrow mode this is uh like one of the lowest settings you can put on the suspension and already I mean look how look how tall it is so for me to get on it it's like je but now I'm here uh as you can see it's my it's my government name and uh the Bluetooth doesn't really work all that all that well we're going to see if it uh can pick up some of my Google Play Music playlist but uh it's uh it ain't bad I like the touchcreen I like the the fact that it's nice and big um a lot of newer car don't have big touch screens they have something a little smaller and it's not as uh not as responsive but this is like it's not like a Tesla but it's it ain't bad okay clim it here when I first got the car I it took me a little while to figure this out but it ain't bad I say that about every car this is actually pretty good what you done I'm filming it's recording now no I'm saying what what do you have what do you have the camera on or you just I just filming the road okay filming the road okay damn that burnt man sitre uh this is a new car for me but it's only a new car for about a week or so I have to give it back on uh on Monday which is like 3 days from now but I am going to go get a new car for myself that I get to keep so it's not really new it's actually quite used uh I'll let you know what I'm talking about in a little bit okay I am a little bit concerned because I originally got the paperwork for this car about 4 months ago turn right and um this car might not actually be here we just drove an hour and a half with this trailer in toe and the car might not actually be there it might have been towed it might have been broken into too who knows might have been stolen all right so it's the next right I should see the car that i h i I took ownership of a few months ago uh fingers crossed now turn right crosses it there what the oh no no it's not it's not in the street okay okay it's on the next street not next next but hole clenched yeah all right is it now turn right it no okay I'm going to stand way back we should have probably got a fire nah live dangerously smells great okay cranks so actually cranks a lot better than I thought it would it's a brand new battery look at this active Arrow come come here take a look at this so when this thing is at speed this acts as like little uh the air brake or something really cool o yeah nice as your viewers will never find out that car is pungent what the hell is I'm not going to screw with any of this cuz this is how I got the car but there's Gator Clips yeah yeah it's pretty bad okay so let me uh I want to try to connect this makeshift thing okay can't run it for long but I connect it yeah or wait connect it it's going that is not smell good h oh that no power maybe you need a running start it up go yeah the bumper but you're good how you doing can't get out all right probably leave the key inside no yeah might as well no who's going to take it who knows somebody might steal this actually how graceful it says no step yeah not that bad see look at that that ain't bad according to U-Haul I told him I'd be towing a 91 cic oh my God that thing smells the is being calculated thank you car smells horrendous do you have a sense of accomplishment uh when we put this car in my driveway and then I can get it to run uh decently honestly I think it needs a new fuel tank new fuel pump um just get all the mice and rat turds out of the uh intake manifold and and combustion chamber and get all the spiders out of the exhaust uh new spark plugs new fuel filter and I think this will run very well but uh do not quote me on that because it's going to be a enormous CL cluster when I actually attempt to do this so that's what it always seems to come down to hopefully this car doesn't fall off on the highway there's a guy with a 3,000 GT right behind me he's right on my ass look at it turn right a yeah so hopefully the hour and a half at highway traffic we'll have uh gotten some of that rat crap out of the Interior so I got to power wash this whole thing but I think we'll be okay did I take this off try that yeah like a glove no no no wait wait you know what just just leave it up leave it up
