The Art of Mass Hacking: A Senior Prank Gone Wrong

Imagine being able to take control of every single computer in a school, sending them all to the same YouTube video at the same time. Sounds like a cool senior prank, right? Unfortunately, it's not as simple as just setting up a static web page and clicking send. The author recalls trying this very thing, but with disastrous results.

works um but it's funny because i i settled on the 120 gig hard drive because i didn't figure i'd need the space oh you're on the other team huh oh hi but just like instantly when i got access to some ps oh i killed you but instantly when i got access to some ps plus stuff and was downloading games i just suddenly filled up my hard drive and it's like well and they don't let you use external storage oh we're playing jackhammer hell yeah my complaining paid off we're head head-to-head blizzard oh damn you guys got oh you're going to play jackhammer you could've just played a competitive game that i didn't even know that was in the game yet yeah it's been in the game quite some time i don't know how that works is it ranked um that's my knowledge how is it more competitive than casual i don't like i never understand when they just arbitrarily throw playlists in there like that like it's the same game it's always the same game it's always this game type on this map oh that's it that's it i didn't know that that's weird i don't know what's so competitive about it i mean like i mean it's less chaotic i wouldn't even argue that jackhammer is the most competitive like certainly capture the flag as a kind of pinnacle hello a kind of pinnacle capture the flag or kind of pinnacle competitive game type but i mean a word like a good extraction game to me like a truly objective like extraction game would be more competitive than jackhammer oh that song i sent you earlier i freaking love it but it's mixed terribly it um blows out really yeah like quite a bit never heard one of their songs do that huh yeah i've listened to it on like three different devices and it's the mixing that's weird does it on all three of them no matter what the volume is i don't even listen to music that loud all right now i have just the intro to timber stuck in my head damn it and i don't even know the words to it it's just plain them ahead because i listen to the like first few seconds of that song and they play that song at work a lot and i didn't even know that i liked the song more than i cared it would miss i didn't even know that was one republic no but timber itself is the one republic found no it's not it's kesha okay whatever the one republic part is the enemy has dropped shooting stars yeah that whatever yeah that'll work a lot and so now the intro to that is stuck in my head and i feel like i'm at work and i had to go into work today to try and exchange my chromebook and it didn't work damn did he oh he did die and then i just let myself die gg what'd you try exchanging chromebook for because i i think it's because of it my power outlet's bad and so it probably wasn't actually charging but i had it it died at school yesterday and i had it plugged in all night last night which was an accident because i don't like leaving them in charged pests when it's charged because that just drains the battery over time but it charged all night last night i unplugged it say 10 o'clock this morning it was off i as far as i know um the entire time i was at school until say five o'clock when i went to use it it wouldn't even turn on and when i finally plugged it in and tried turning it on it said it had two percent battery okay and so to me that's and i looked it up and there was only one other post about that chromebook with someone having a problem and all they did was just ended up exchanging it themselves but like to me that screams that something about charging's faulty and the new chromebook has double the battery life of the one i just got for the same price and so i was just going to go huh for anyone yeah i was just going to go and exchange it to get the new one since it was better and apparently the one that we had at work that i thought we had was actually the demo um that hadn't been opened yet and oh oops we i can't order the new one yet because it's not actually available and by time it is available i'll be out of my return with to exchange it so i'm just hoping that like i'm pretty sure because my tablet's done similar things so i'm pretty sure it was just a bad outlet or that somehow i got turned on but it saw me concerned it was literally plugged in overnight to not have a single bit of a charge is kind of odd but i charged it for an hour earlier in a different outlet turned it on it was alive and said it was full so i have it off for a little bit gonna try it again before i go to bed if it has a charge then i'm not gonna worry about it i just figured since it was since the new one said it had a nine hour battery life versus the like four to five that this one has it might as well and has slightly better processor chromebooks don't even take that much power at all do they nope because low specs there's nothing running low specs and solid state drive and like yeah no the os itself doesn't really use much power oh wes honestly could probably be put up i'll you put on a cd yeah that's literally just right i mean like if you look at it that os has like it's so minimalist there's nothing really going on and there's transparency but literally running google chrome i mean that's somehow that's hard not you but when i talk to some people about it that's somehow hard for people to understand that literally it's running chrome that is it right well no what's the operating system google chrome that's all yeah oh it's used for it um what do you use to do most things on the internet google chrome there you go hi you died and her explorer get the out of my store oh we killed each other nice not you buddy head shot at each other was kind of sad didn't think i killed you yeah and i mean i'm enjoying i'm loving it so far i still see tons of hate on the internet although same thing with windows 8 but i'm loving it um literally my only complaint so far has been that weird battery thing that hopefully is a temporary fix right my main issue like my main motivation behind exchanging it if for the battery thing is because the main reason i wanted it was so i had something that had a long battery life that i could take with me to school because my laptop doesn't have much of a battery life um people expect too much out of it it's not supposed to be a machine that you can play games or do stuff like that on it's yeah a general purpose machine that's the tiniest that has a small battery or has a long battery not small and that's why it's so cheap but i mean it's as portable as you get basically without buying a thousand dollar ultrabook or a tablet um right because it's very lightweight turns on instantly long battery the enemy but like like i really feel that people don't actually expect a lot out of it so much as they don't think that they just don't think about the fact that that's all they would need on the go for what it is like sure there are plenty of people who require specific programs for specific jobs or whatever they can't use a chromebook but you you don't need all the things you can do on a computer on the go to on the go 24 7 for 250 to 300 you don't like mind you there's also all the people that don't even know that google drive really exists and i think that's the big turn off is it so there's no microsoft office you don't teams need got it just under a different name and the few people at work that customers that i uh granted they didn't buy a chromebook on the spot so i have no idea if they really felt compelled to afterwards but a few people have actually got to listen and look at google drive they're like this is the greatest thing in the world why would you pay for office and like exactly we understand each other yeah there was a powerpoint that i made in um microsoft office that had a few well it had a fade animation i don't know if you can count that as an actual animation but it had a bunch of customs or custom fonts and stuff it had embedded video it was like it had a lot of stuff in it right send it to a friend he opened it in google drive perfectly fine yeah you have complete compatibility with all office files that schools would use or that you'd use on your main computer instant cloud saving like you don't you never have to hit save everything is saved instantly collaboration which doesn't apply for a lot of for everybody but it's the coolest thing in the world when you do need it and so literally if i'm getting somebody to actually look at google docs which is totally against what i'm supposed to do at my job since i'm supposed to sell people office but i don't believe in it so whatever um but i'll literally i'll log into my drive account and show them our big old spreadsheet that we use for the newspaper that i work on where we have a giant storyboard where like 50 of us edited at once and they're just like holy crap how much is that that's got to be really expensive no it's 100 free you get like seven gigabytes of storage by default that is more than you'll honestly ever need for just documents and powerpoints and stuff if you get a if you get a chromebook you get a hundred gigabytes free for two years cancel your dropbox subscription because now you have google drive for 100 gigs what more do you need out of a laptop unless again you're doing something specific with like editing or cad drawing or something in which case you're not looking for a cheap 300 laptop anyway if so you're an idiot although we do get those people at work too who are like who are buying their capture cards or looking for capture cards and then looking for like 200 computers to edit and record the video on it and i'm like no this isn't going to do what you want i do this at home i know what i'm talking about yeah do you also capture cards no go go home you don't this isn't what you want to do we sell them online well i don't carry them in the store because they're not i just canceled our matchmaking i'm sorry why don't you sell them in the store because that's not an in-store product not everybody needs to have these nor should they if they did youtube would be hell more so than it already is and then this and then we'll get people who are like who know nothing about computers and are trying to output they wanted to buy their own ram to add eight gigs of ram to their laptop to be able to do video editing programs for their call of duty capture cards and they said they installed their own bigger hard drive and like the flat the little panel for it isn't even screwed in all the way it's like sticking out and i'm just like oh my god this poor laptop and like i want to just sit there and look at the people and be like look if you have to upgrade your laptop to meet the minimum specs for the capture software you're not going to be able to do anything that you want to do like like i understand i'm you know i want the best specs ever whatever you don't need that but when you have to make modifications to something as structured as a laptop to meet the bare minimum requirements to even open the software you're not gonna make good videos right you're not gonna make good videos you're hardly gonna make videos to begin with good luck editing rendering anything and on that tiny laptop with the celeron processor that are you been in this match um no oh it never even like did anything and said on the bottom right join q or whatever it's like let's do that automatically okay you're on the enemy team again dammit why is it doing that because you're obviously avoiding me hello yeah oh god kill this guy eat me the alone i do like that specific maps are mostly set up for oh my god killed yourself how was that i don't know if it's my keyboard or the game sensitivity i was at ninety percent capturing and i just hit a and it literally sends me flying off the face of the map seriously game seems legit yeah eat grenades escape with google drive i would use it and i would love it but my school blocks it no that's hilarious oh yeah cause it it'd log you into your email and you can't use email at school because lol what is freedom of information we shouldn't allow our students access to the information available online because then they might know that we're lying to them it's not like they get to figure that out at home anyways yeah the high school internet pisses me off that's why we always had port or tunnel connections to do whatever we wanted yeah and you can't even do that anymore yeah like if you so much search the word proxy it blocks you and flags you and sends a report to the office oh yeah that's why you don't search for it don't make it obvious but no i didn't do that somebody else did it was funny because they typed it in 20 minutes later they get an assistant principal comes down and me being me i eavesdrop right i just look at him you actually thought you could get away with that but to actually get in trouble for searching for it is pretty pathetic on the school wow there's a reason why i just broke through and got ahead myself yeah i did that for a little while and then i decided to use the out of it that was fun now i still you still i still like used portable programs half the time yeah what were you gonna say um so all the computers on the campus had the had this um back end you know something you can't see when you're logged in as a student at all um remote access program called like eagle eye and that may not be the right word eagle vision or something stupid but basically it was a vnc program um that may not actually they may have just been running vnc servers but that's what we were using to hijack them i guess um but they were all you know vnc clients for the massive server so if they could spy on you whenever they wanted well with an admin login i used that eagle vision program wow i died from you okay we burned each other okay but with admin access i could run that eagle vision program and literally control and it gave me the names of them which of course were relative to where they were so it was like library 101 or something and so i'd literally go on all the library computers you know sneakily when the student wasn't doing much or whatever turn their volume up and then pull up the over 9000 video on like six of them at once and just kind of listen to the like shock and then the volume from across the hall and then uh yeah it wasn't discovered to us started screwing with teachers on projectors and then oh my god like i don't think they ever would have gotten like even really paid much attention if it were just students like computers freaking out but i started like typing while teachers were typing and then moving their files and that became a bit more problematic yeah the we have the same kind of thing on our school computers but i'm not sure if i'd be able to hijack it like that yeah it was fun and the best of all like it we didn't have a way of actually um like making our own accounts admin we were logged in as the assistant principal so there's no even tie to us oh my god how did you find that it was apparently i didn't get the password but apparently durian like orientation when they were handing out textbooks or whenever they were doing textbooks whoever was um volunteering because of the computer they were using for textbooks was messed up it was literally printed and taped to the wall in the textbook room and so one of us one whoever it was being you know the kind of person we are just kind of put made a note of it to memory and suddenly we had it and we didn't do anything wrong that's the assistant principles account doing everything of course we'd be doing it from different computers and never logged in as us yeah i'll give it to the school for me or my school like the security system that we have they it does its job and it doesn't show well but you can still get around it quite easily the fact that yes all the computers in the school do have um they all have bios passwords but yeah all i've tried going in and changing the boot settings or priority couldn't do it because the computer had an admin password on it and it makes it loud deep when you try actually inputting something but i found out that if you go to a network book it still jumbles up the boot priority anyways and for some reason it automatically puts the hard drive as a lasting boot priority perfect so plug in pyran's boot cd flash drive restart the computer swap out the sticky keys program with command prompt reboot the computer use sticky keys and log in and then run uh admin command net local group administrator student backslash 118253 slash ad interesting i honestly felt pretty damn smart when i figured that out sorry i was intently shooting my rock um okay ncrs i don't i don't know if that's still a standard but especially with how more prevalent students having wireless devices would be but ours actually blocked the wi-fi to non-school computers like they had mac filtering to where you had to have a registered laptop mac address or you didn't have access to the wi-fi other than one computer teacher had his own wi-fi set up but um and so we had to do a lot of mac spoofing which basically required temporarily stealing the laptops to strip them up their mac addresses and then hardware spoof it every time we turned on our laptops well i had told you back when my dad tried going like control frequently would kick me it would kick me off the internet at 10 and what i did was i just um got tmac or whatever spoofed the mac address and it never bothered me for it again all right took off all the blocks took off everything's like okay as you previously said this child is untameable honestly though you know go ahead you just have to think about oh i was just gonna say if you have to think about parenting as teeming your child you're probably doing it wrong you're probably going to struggle with it you know me though like i don't necessarily have the greatest self-esteem at all but when i can figure stuff out like this i feel pretty damn smart yeah you just need to show it off to more people who don't know anything about computers because they'll give you all the praise in the world right or pay me for it tattoo that too but then you but the thing is that risk making you feel like they're only doing it for your services then you're like some sort of tech and that's never fun to feel like i've never had that i've actually never heard that phrase before so i just made that up but oh the the word at least but yeah blowing out your services quite literally it's always fun when you when suddenly everybody in the world wants to talk to you because they think you can quote hack someone's facebook page or quote hack a website when they don't even understand that the question they're asking doesn't even technologically making they don't even know what the definition of hack to begin with is can you hack this website for me so i can get my password back it's like it's not really technically possible but sure i'll guess password in one two three four a few times till i find it dumb ass can you hack my friend's facebook page and let me post no no guessing a security question i'm guessing a security question is not hacking getting a blatantly just and people password password is not hacking and i went through a very questionable phase in my life back when i played runescape in middle school where i would quote hack lots of people's accounts even members accounts and everybody thought i was some kind of genius you know what i did i asked them for their password and for their recovery question answers and the email address that their account was tied to my runescape name would be something like rs admin 5. i'd say we need to verify their account you know the basic fishing thing that everyone ever tries that you should never ever fall for and they gave it over to me and then i logged in and changed all their information and suddenly i had a top level member's account for a month i'm a genius i can hack everything let's go hack some money from the government because they have money that's that's even funnier part because they just have buckets of cash just lying around to hack outside of the treasury i guess like let's go to whitehouse.gov and get us some money why would you think money is there it's the white house do you understand what a website is do you understand i need you to hack my friend's computer and delete all his files because he's still my youtube account it's like i'm sorry your password was password and your security cache question answer with mom but no i'm not doing that for you but please you stole my account i'm sorry you left your password open and gave it to them because they said they would make you a partner even though that's not how partnership works can you make me money please i'm just like activated hack can you just hack money the government printing systems just have it automatically shipped to my house jesus christ this is like i don't even know if the stuff that i've been doing can even be considered hacking probably not i don't know would you consider that remember how you said that um back in high school you and your friend both had a flash drive that had a virus on it you kept plugging into computers and eventually got control of all the computers in the school that was fun yeah um my senior prank is essentially consisting of that but i want to do it without a virus is that possible just plug in a flash drive and get control well not necessarily a flash drive but okay the fact that i have admin privileges yeah i mean most well ideally all the machines are grouped in some sort of net group all the computers in the entire district are in one single map group every single one oh damn it comes out to like 6672 yeah well that's not very effective management what the okay uh yeah um i did a shutdown dash i in control panel did browse and all of a sudden a list of every single computer in the entire school district comes up that's okay well so they're all on the same network there's no worry about that right but but actually gaining simultaneous control of all of them at the same time yeah i don't know how it would do that i don't either um because unless you did it well ours was not at the same time and ours wasn't necessarily all i don't know i mean i'm assuming they're a virus if they're running some sort of vnc thing too which i would imagine they are then you they are yeah but ideally then be able to get access hijack that somehow yeah like because then you could set up just one giant vnc client that has you know you just basically get on whatever computer you you know get on each computer use your admin privileges get the vnc address for that computer which in an ideal world would just be the ip of that computer so that'd be ten times easier make a giant because it would just make a giant vnc list of all those computers and granted you wouldn't be able to probably enter an action to all of them at the same time but you could like you can do some like with the client we were using you could literally shut them down restart them do some crazy stuff without even vnc in so right ideally because something like that or some sort of giant like teamviewer session or some there was um one there was one remote program i saw at one point where you would be able to like i don't know what specifically it was but the enemy has scored first what was it that's gonna piss me off now you would like press a button that would say or web or whatever you type a new url and it would automatically open a web browser and take you to that web page no matter what they were doing oh yeah it would do that automatically well that would be cool because then you could just set up some sort of static web page and screw with them that way just take them all to the same right what i want to do is i want to mass promote all of them adjust the volume to max on every single computer in the school and over and over send them over to a youtube web page that's exactly what i want to do that's doable you just gotta hope that your client is compatible with whatever back in their running right which may be hard to figure out you have to admit that's one hell of a senior prank yeah yeah especially if you had a like a specific time that was important like all right it's time for a moment of science oh my god it's like i don't even know what video i would pull up honestly doesn't matter i just want to do like something super obnoxious all right or like either something super obnoxious or a song that's like really catchy kind of geeky that everybody knows yeah just have whatever that's called i'm sudden flash mob with the computer right and the thing is is that um oh my god whose bright idea was it to network every single computer and the entire district to one network one group yeah that's not okay i ran into some issues like that when i was basically like browsing like when i was browsing for servers because i was trying to find printers because i found a couple printers i could connect to and so i just sent like massive chains of nyan cat and to it just laughing assuming someone would find it i never saw the result but i just assumed it'd be hilarious to just be like in a computer class and suddenly you're just getting tons of printoffs and he's they're probably blaming the students like it just was funny in theory um but i don't have zero kill um but i would also run into just like random you know computers counting the servers in other districts and other schools and not other districts but other schools and i'm just like why is this here like oh here's room 105 and a school across the city just like the fact that i can dash eye and shut down browse and the name of every single computer in the entire district yeah there's something wrong here i mean like i said the school security system it's good but when you break it they're yeah and that's what makes it so much more compelling to break it right and nobody really ever goes to school and thinks of that either like i'm gonna go to school and i'm going to completely everything over and for some reason the shutdown dash i command doesn't actually work it just says um right like i'll try to actually like send the shutdown command and it says i need to be an administrator despite being an administrator well like they know but they don't know enough right i've caught so many points and i had the same issue last year too to where um i was never an administrator but i was able to access control panel right just all the com or all the commands for it were denied like you couldn't actually do anything in it yeah competitive about it i mean like i mean it's less chaotic i wouldn't even argue that jackhammer is the most competitive like certainly capture the flag as a kind of pinnacle hello a kind of pinnacle capture the flag or kind of pinnacle competitive game type but i mean a word like a good extraction game to me like a truly objective like extraction game would be more competitive than jackhammer oh different devices and it's the mixing that's weird does it on all three of them no matter what the volume is i don't even listen to music that loud all right now i have just the intro to timber stuck in my head damn it and i don't even know the words to it it's just plain them ahead because i listen to the like first few seconds of that song and they play that song at work a lot and i didn't even know that i liked the song more than i cared it would miss i didn't even know that was one republic no but timber itself is the one republic found no it's not it's kesha okay whatever the one republic part is the enemy has dropped shooting stars yeah that whatever yeah that'll work a lot and so now the intro to that is stuck in my head and i feel like i'm at work and i had to go into work today to try and exchange my chromebook and it didn't work damn did he oh he did die and then i just let myself die gg what'd you try exchanging chromebook for because i i think it's because of it my power outlet's bad and so it probably wasn't actually charging but i had it it died at school yesterday and i had it plugged in all night last night which was an accident because i don't like leaving them in charged pests when it's charged because that just drains the battery over time but it charged all night last night i unplugged it say 10 o'clock this morning it was off i as far as i know um the entire time i was at school until say five o'clock when i went to use it it wouldn't even turn on and when i finally plugged it in and tried turning it on it said it had two percent battery okay and so to me that's and i looked it up and there was only one other post about that chromebook with someone having a problem and all they did was just ended up exchanging it themselves but like to me that screams that something about charging's faulty and the new chromebook has double the battery life of the one i just got for the same price and so i was just going to go huh for anyone yeah i was just going to go and exchange it to get the new one since it was better and apparently the one that we had at work that i thought we had was actually the demo um that hadn't been opened yet and oh oops we i can't order the new one yet because it's not actually available and by time it is available i'll be out of my return with to exchange it so i'm just hoping that like i'm pretty sure because my tablet's done similar things so i'm pretty sure it was just a bad outlet or that somehow i got turned on but it saw me concerned it was literally plugged in overnight to not have a single bit of a charge is kind of odd but i charged it for an hour earlier in a different outlet turned it on it was alive and said it was full so i have it off for a little bit gonna try it again before i go to bed if it has a charge then i'm not gonna worry about it i just figured since it was since the new one said it had a nine hour battery life versus the like four to five that this one has it might as well and has slightly better processor chromebooks don't even take that much power at all do they nope because low specs there's nothing running low specs and solid state drive and like yeah no the os itself doesn't really use much power oh wes honestly could probably be put up i'll you put on a cd yeah that's literally just right i mean like if you look at it that os has like it's so minimalist there's nothing really going on and there's transparency but literally running google chrome i mean that's somehow that's hard not you but when i talk to some people about it that's somehow hard for people to understand that literally it's running chrome that is it right well no what's the operating system google chrome that's all yeah oh it's used for it um what do you use to do most things on the internet google chrome there you go hi you died and her explorer get the out of my store oh we killed each other nice not you buddy head shot at each other was kind of sad didn't think i killed you yeah and i mean i'm enjoying i'm loving it so far i still see tons of hate on the internet although same thing with windows 8 but i'm loving it um literally my only complaint so far has been that weird battery thing that hopefully is a temporary fix right my main issue like my main motivation behind exchanging it if for the battery thing is because the main reason i wanted it was so i had something that had a long battery life that i could take with me to school because my laptop doesn't have much of a battery life um people expect too much out of it it's not supposed to be a machine that you can play games or do stuff like that on it's yeah a general purpose machine that's the tiniest that has a small battery or has a long battery not small and that's why it's so cheap but i mean it's as portable as you get basically without buying a thousand dollar ultrabook or a tablet um right because it's very lightweight turns on instantly long battery the enemy but like like i really feel that people don't actually expect a lot out of it so much as they don't think that they just don't think about the fact that that's all they would need on the go for what it is like sure there are plenty of people who require specific programs for specific jobs or whatever they can't use a chromebook but you you don't need all the things you can do on a computer on the go to on the go 24 7 for 250 to 300 you don't like mind you there's also all the people that don't even know that google drive really exists and i think that's the big turn off is it so there's no microsoft office you don't teams need got it just under a different name and the few people at work that customers that i uh granted they didn't buy a chromebook on the spot so i have no idea if they really felt compelled to afterwards but a few people have actually got to listen and look at google drive they're like this is the greatest thing in the world why would you pay for office and like exactly we understand each other yeah there was a powerpoint that i made in um microsoft office that had a few well it had a fade animation i don't know if you can count that as an actual animation but it had a bunch of customs or custom fonts and stuff it had embedded video it was like it had a lot of stuff in it right send it to a friend he opened it in google drive perfectly fine yeah you have complete compatibility with all office files that schools would use or that you'd use on your main computer instant cloud saving like you don't you never have to hit save everything is saved instantly collaboration which doesn't apply for a lot of for everybody but it's the coolest thing in the world when you do need it and so literally if i'm getting somebody to actually look at google docs which is totally against what i'm supposed to do at my job since i'm supposed to sell people office but i don't believe in it so whatever um but i'll literally i'll log into my drive account and show them our big old spreadsheet that we use for the newspaper that i work on where we have a giant storyboard where like 50 of us edited at once and they're just like holy crap how much is that that's got to be really expensive no it's 100 free you get like seven gigabytes of storage by default that is more than you'll honestly ever need for just documents and powerpoints and stuff if you get a if you get a chromebook you get a hundred gigabytes free for two years cancel your dropbox subscription because now you have google drive for 100 gigs what more do you need out of a laptop unless again you're doing something specific with like editing or cad drawing or something in which case you're not looking for a cheap 300 laptop anyway if so you're an idiot although we do get those people at work too who are like who are buying their capture cards or looking for capture cards and then looking for like 200 computers to edit and record the video on it and i'm like no this isn't going to do what you want i do this at home i know what i'm talking about yeah do you also capture cards no go go home you don't this isn't what you want to do we sell them online well i don't carry them in the store because they're not i just canceled our matchmaking i'm sorry why don't you sell them in the store because that's not an in-store product not everybody needs to have these nor should they if they did youtube would be hell more so than it already is and then this and then we'll get people who are like who know nothing about computers and are trying to output they wanted to buy their own ram to add eight gigs of ram to their laptop to be able to do video editing programs for their call of duty capture cards and they said they installed their own bigger hard drive and like the flat the little panel for it isn't even screwed in all the way it's like sticking out and i'm just like oh my god this poor laptop and like i want to just sit there and look at the people and be like look if you have to upgrade your laptop to meet the minimum specs for the capture software you're not going to be able to do anything that you want to do like like i understand i'm you know i want the best specs ever whatever you don't need that but when you have to make modifications to something as structured as a laptop to meet the bare minimum requirements to even open the software you're not gonna make good videos right you're not gonna make good videos you're hardly gonna make videos to begin with good luck editing rendering anything and on that tiny laptop with the celeron processor that are you been in this match um no oh it never even like did anything and said on the bottom right join q or whatever it's like let's do that automatically okay you're on the enemy team again dammit why is it doing freedom of information we shouldn't allow our students access to the information available online because then they might know that we're lying to them it's not like they get to figure that out at home anyways yeah the high school internet pisses me off that's why we always had port or tunnel connections to do whatever we wanted yeah and you can't even do that anymore yeah like if you so much search the word proxy it blocks you and flags you and sends a report to the office oh yeah that's why you don't search for it don't make it obvious but no i didn't do that somebody else did it was funny because they typed it in 20 minutes later they get an assistant principal comes down and me being me i eavesdrop right i just look at him you actually thought you could get away with that but to actually get in trouble for searching for it is pretty pathetic on the school wow there's a reason why i just broke through and got ahead myself yeah i did that for a little while and then i decided to use the out of it that was fun now i still you still i still like used portable programs half the time yeah what were you gonna say um so all the computers on the campus had the had this um back end you know something you can't see when you're logged in as a student at all um remote access program called like eagle eye and that may not be the right word eagle vision or something stupid but basically it was a vnc program um that may not actually they may have just been running vnc servers but that's what we were using to hijack them i guess um but they were all you know vnc clients for the massive server so if they could spy on you whenever they wanted well with an admin login i used that eagle vision program wow i died from you okay we burned each other okay but with admin access i could run that eagle vision program and literally control and it gave me the names of them which of course were relative to where they were so it was like library 101 or something and so i'd literally go on all the library computers you know sneakily when the student wasn't doing much or whatever turn their volume up and then pull up the over 9000 video on like six of them at once and just kind of listen to the like shock and then the volume from across the hall and then uh yeah it wasn't discovered to us started screwing with teachers on projectors and then oh my god like i don't think they ever would have gotten like even really paid much attention if it were just students like computers freaking out but i started like typing while teachers were typing and then moving their files and that became a bit more problematic yeah the we have the same kind of thing on our school computers but i'm not sure if i'd be able to hijack it like that yeah it was fun and the best of all like it we didn't have a way of actually um like making our own accounts admin we were logged in as the assistant principal so there's no even tie to us oh my god how did you find that it was apparently i didn't get the password but apparently durian like orientation when they were handing out textbooks or whenever they were doing textbooks whoever was um volunteering because of the computer they were using for textbooks was messed up it was literally printed and taped to the wall in the textbook room and so one of us one whoever it was being you know the kind of person we are just kind of put made a note of it to memory and suddenly we had it and we didn't do anything wrong that's the assistant principles account doing everything of course we'd be doing it from different computers and never logged in as us yeah i'll give it to the school for me or my school like the security system that we have they it does its job and it doesn't show well but you can still get around it quite easily the fact that yes all the computers in the school do have um they all have bios passwords but yeah all i've tried going in and changing the boot settings or priority couldn't do it because the computer had an admin password on it and it makes it loud deep when you try actually inputting something but i found out that if you go to a network book it still jumbles up the boot priority anyways and for some reason it automatically puts the hard drive as a lasting boot priority perfect so plug in pyran's boot cd flash drive restart the computer swap out the sticky keys program with command prompt reboot the computer use sticky keys and log in and then run uh admin command net local group administrator student backslash 118253 slash ad interesting i honestly felt pretty damn smart when i figured that out sorry i was intently shooting my rock um okay ncrs i don't i don't know if that's still a standard but especially with how more prevalent students having wireless devices would be but ours actually blocked the wi-fi to non-school computers like they had mac filtering to where you had to have a registered laptop mac address or you didn't have access to the wi-fi other than one computer teacher had his own wi-fi set up but um and so we had to do a lot of mac spoofing which basically required temporarily stealing the laptops to strip them up their mac addresses and then hardware spoof it every time we turned on our laptops well i had told you back when my dad tried going like control frequently would kick me it would kick me off the internet at 10 and what i did was i just um got tmac or whatever spoofed the mac address and it never bothered me for it again all right took off all the blocks took off everything's like okay as you previously said this child is untameable honestly though you know go ahead you just have to think about oh i was just gonna say if you have to think about parenting as teeming your child you're probably doing it wrong you're probably going to struggle with it you know me though like i don't necessarily have the greatest self-esteem at all but when i can figure stuff out like this i feel pretty damn smart yeah you just need to show it off to more people who don't know anything about computers because they'll give you all the praise in the world right or pay me for it tattoo that too but then you but the thing is that risk making you feel like they're only doing it for your services then you're like some sort of tech and that's never fun to feel like i've never had that i've actually never heard that phrase before so i just made that up but oh the the word at least but yeah blowing out your services quite literally it's always fun when you when suddenly everybody in the world wants to talk to you because they think you can quote hack someone's facebook page or quote hack a website when they don't even understand that the question they're asking doesn't even technologically making they don't even know what the definition of hack to begin with is can you hack this website for me so i can get my password back it's like it's not really technically possible but sure i'll guess password in one two three four a few times till i find it dumb ass can you hack my friend's facebook page and let me post no no guessing a security question i'm guessing a security question is not hacking getting a blatantly just and people password password is not hacking and i went through a very questionable phase in my life back when i played runescape in middle school where i would quote hack lots of people's accounts even members accounts and everybody thought i was some kind of genius you know what i did i asked them for their password and for their recovery question answers and the email address that their account was tied to my runescape name would be something like rs admin 5. i'd say we need to verify their account you know the basic fishing thing that everyone ever tries that you should never ever fall for and they gave it over to me and then i logged in and changed all their information and suddenly i had a top level member's account for a month i'm a genius i can hack everything let's go hack some money from the government because they have money that's that's even funnier part because they just have buckets of cash just lying around to hack outside of the treasury i guess like let's go to whitehouse.gov and get us some money why would you think money is there it's the white house do you understand what a website is do you understand i need you to hack my friend's computer and without a virus is that possible just plug in a flash drive and get control well not necessarily a flash drive but okay the fact that i have admin privileges yeah i mean most well ideally all the machines are grouped in some sort of net group all the computers in the entire district are in one single map group every single one oh damn it comes out to like 6672 yeah well that's not very effective management what the okay uh yeah um i did a shutdown dash i in control panel did browse and all of a sudden a list of every single computer in the entire school district comes up that's okay well so they're all on the same network there's no worry about that right but but actually gaining simultaneous control of all of them at the same time yeah i don't know how it would do that i don't either um because unless you did it well ours was not at the same time and ours wasn't necessarily all i don't know i mean i'm assuming they're a virus if they're running some sort of vnc thing too which i would imagine they are then you they are yeah but ideally then be able to get access hijack that somehow yeah like because then you could set up just one giant vnc client that has you know you just basically get on whatever computer you you know get on each computer use your admin privileges get the vnc address for that computer which in an ideal world would just be the ip of that computer so that'd be ten times easier make a giant because it would just make a giant vnc list of all those computers and granted you wouldn't be able to probably enter an action to all of them at the same time but you could like you can do some like with the client we were using you could literally shut them down restart them do some crazy stuff without even vnc in so right ideally because something like that or some sort of giant like teamviewer session or some there was um one there was one remote program i saw at one point where you would be able to like i don't know what specifically it was but the enemy has scored first what was it that's gonna piss me off now you would like press a button that would say or web or whatever you type a new url and it would automatically open a web browser and take you to that web page no matter what they were doing oh yeah it would do that automatically well that would be cool because then you could just set up some sort of static web page and screw with them that way just take them all to the same right what i want to do is i want to mass promote all of them adjust the volume to max on every single computer in the school and over and over send them over to a youtube web page that's exactly what i want to do that's doable you just gotta hope that your client is compatible with whatever back in their running right which may be hard to figure out you have to admit that's one hell of a senior prank yeah yeah especially if you had a like a specific time that was important like all right it's time for a moment of science oh my god it's like i every single computer and the entire district to one network one group yeah that's not okay i ran into some issues like that when i was basically like browsing like when i was browsing for servers because i was trying to find printers because i found a couple printers i could connect to and so i just sent like massive chains of nyan cat and to it just laughing assuming someone would find it i never saw the result but i just assumed it'd be hilarious to just be like in a computer class and suddenly you're just getting tons of printoffs and he's they're probably blaming the students like it just was funny in theory um but i don't have zero kill um but i would also run into just like random you know computers counting the servers in other districts and other schools and not other districts but other schools and i'm just like why is this here like oh here's room 105 and a school across the city just like the fact that i can dash eye and shut down browse and the name of every single computer in the entire district yeah there's something wrong here i mean like i said the school security system it's good but when you break it they're yeah and that's what makes it so much more compelling to break it right and nobody really ever goes to school and thinks of that either like i'm gonna go to school and i'm going to completely everything over and for some reason the shutdown dash i command doesn't actually work it just says um right like i'll try to actually like send the shutdown command and it says i need to be an administrator despite being an administrator well like they know but they don't know enough right i've caught so many points and i had the same issue last year too to where um i was never an administrator but i was able to access control panel right just all the com or all the commands for it were denied like you couldn't actually do anything in it yeah other than slash helper color b tree look i have the matrix yeah i don't impress some people unfortunately i remember in like middle school i think people would literally just create like word bubbles and word art and just weird looking text and word and just being like oh look we're having a hacking fight and people would believe it i just feel like what the hell are you talking about like look i don't know they're trying to take over i'm winning i'm winning it's like what like sure applause for the imagination but at the same time what the you're 13 14. and you're having a pretend fight as if you're maybe four explain this to me it's more adult because it's with a computer
