Samsung's Hidden Gem - 5120x1440 240Hz Gaming Monitor (CES 2020 Finale!)

CES 2020 Coverage: A Week in Review

As I walked onto the show floor, I was greeted by the usual excitement and energy that comes with attending one of the biggest tech events of the year. I wasn't necessarily expecting a car from Sony at CES so that was interesting I suppose that it looks pretty good I guess next we'll have to wait and see if they actually buy a factory to build in it. My trip to the show floor was actually pretty quick this year I only had a couple hours there but there was some other random stuff I saw like Delta's exoskeleton bionic arm that they developed with Sarcos Robotics, it's actually called the Guardian EXO and it's intended to help Delta employees lift and move heavy things or like large pieces of luggage for example according to this lady who I'm pretty sure is just a random lady they pulled off the show floor. It makes a 22 kilograms suitcase feel like nothing like it's basically just lifting your arm not holding anything so great for Delta employees but on the flip side I'm sure there's no way this could be used for nefarious purposes at all.

I also saw Royals LED tree which is a big tree of LED displays showing leaves and flowers and stuff and it would change seasons, I thought it was pretty cool to look at for a few seconds so you guys can too. And then I was briefly fascinated by these strange colorful pots that were spewing mysterious scented vapors into the air after that I kind of forget what happened next but eventually I made my way back to the hotel room.

That's all for this week's CES 2020 coverage, we're at the end of the week and we finished all the coverage of all the booths and sweets and other places that we were going to go most of the videos have been edited except probably just this one Joe has earned some well needed rest and relaxation and I thought I'd give you guys just a quick look. Here's a sneak peek at what he had set up in the video room, shown in the early video where we talked about the systems of here bring in here I've been working with this outside of the box set up just sitting here on the table I monitor right there face in that direction this has been Joe's work corner over here he's already broken down his stuff so he had his keyboard and then the extra Logitech G 1413 G 13 and a bunch of stuff going on there. He's got an ultra-wide with the 1080 monitor next to it this is a 240 Hertz monitor but we didn't really have any time to play any games this week.

Joe's main workhorse was also on display, the Intel setup it over here didn't fare quite as well I had an overclock dialed into it from back when I did testing in the 1098 exe which was perfectly stable for all that unfortunately he had started freezing in blue screening so it took the overclock off still was freezing in blue screening and ended up having to set the memory back to default settings. Fortunately, it still works and it's got an 18 core 36 thread processor, most of the videos were rendered on this Joe would edit over here pull them over to this system do a final pass on them render it out there's a pretty good set up this has been our room for the week, it's been a very nice room we've had a nice view as well because they offered me a pretty reasonable up charge for the premium view so there's a look at our view for the week super sweet.

That's all for this video that is all for my CES 2020 coverage I want to say a huge thank you to Joe right there for being the the silent 1/2 of this team cranking out all the videos doing all the good video editing and he did other stuff too right, he got me yogurt this morning so guys one last thank you to my sponsors for the events MSI thermaltake Lian Li and coolermaster. And a huge thank you to all of you guys the feedback on the videos this week has been amazing so thank you guys for all of your comments and feedback and all likes and subscribes and all that stuff we're out though we got a drive back home actually a little bit of packing to do so I'm gonna take maybe a couple days off day or two off, that sounds like a good idea.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enmy coverage of CES 2020 is brought to you by MSI Thermaltake Leanne Lee and Coolermaster over here behind me is a massive gumball machine people are waiting over two hours in line to get a plastic container out of they're very excited about it but more to the point guys this is my last CES 2020 video and usually waits a little bit later in the week to check out the Convention Center because it's really crowded earlier in the week some stuff I always like to see here but I only got about like two hours so let's see how much concept I could cover up how about 10 first place I visited inside was LG but I did a separate video on their monitors so check that out if you're interested but outside the LG booth or where you enter it is a really cool display that I always like to check out it's a big old wall of curvy 4k TVs they're stacked about eight high I'm not sure side-by-side how many there are but there is a mirror down at the end so it gives kind of an infinity effect and they have a bunch of really cool videos they play like one showing a bunch of orange lanterns they have a really cool space simulation there's a waterfall and then there's some really cool underwater ice caves that have whales swimming so if you walk into the booth they're swimming right over your head it's really cool to see and if you ever get a chance to go to CES check this out in the area near LG was also Panasonic they had a huge micro LED wall sized TV it's about 292 inches apparently they were showing Olympics footage recorded in 8k this is one of the many massive micro LED displays that were around the show floor that are made up of a bunch of individual LED panels that are all connected together and I actually have a video recommendation here in salina tech tips video called why can't I buy a micro LED TV James does a great job on this one talking about some of the details behind these micro LED displays and yes pretty much all the display manufacturers Panasonic LG Samsung Sony we're showing off either those micro LED setups or a que displace 8k displays all the rage this year at CES 2020 these 8k TVs all look very nice look very sharp but to quote Scott Lawson I think we need better pixels right now not necessarily more of them I would prefer better color depth higher refresh rates faster response times in televisions versus these 8k ones that have a dubious amount of actual source footage to show on them of course several manufacturers including Samsung had TVs that rotate 90 degrees so that they can show you portrait mode video taking from cell phones these are cancer and I hate them so let's move on to their credit Samsung also had a hidden gem tucked away at the back of their booth this is the odyssey g9 32 by 9 super ultra wide screen monitor it's 49 inches diagonal 51 20 by 1440 resolution so it's basically two 2560 by 1440 monitors side-by-side 240 Hertz refresh rate one millisecond grady greatest monster time it's a q' LED panel with the 1000 are curved decent compatible free sync support it appears to be powered by Iron Man's arc reactor on the back but with RGB it has a pretty cool looking glossy white housing that looks like a stormtrooper so yes this is an epic monitor I have no idea what it's going to cost canon meanwhile though had a stage setup with ribbon dancers which normally I wouldn't care too much about that they were actually there for a real purpose showing off the capabilities of their recently launched $6,500 1dx mark 3 camera this is a camera that specializes in like action photography so just to show that off even with the quick movements of these dancers on stage you can still snap high-speed photos that remain super sharp even if you're zoomed way in on the subject oh and then Sony had a car you guys may have heard of this it's called the vision s this is an electric concept car focused on safety entertainment and adaptability according to Sony practically speaking it uses the same sensors that Sony has developed for their cameras as well as an array of 33 sensors overall that they call the safety cocoon that scans the car's surroundings at all times for safety hazards it also monitors the passengers inside the car so it can alert you if you're dozing off while you're driving for example I wasn't necessarily expecting a car from Sony at CES so that was interesting I suppose that it looks pretty good I guess next we'll have to wait and see if they actually buy a factory to build in it I trip to the show floor was actually pretty quick rock-solid meanwhile the Intel setup it over here didn't fare quite as well I had an overclock dialed into it from back when I did testing in the 1098 exe which was perfectly stable for all that
