me today sir great to see you again so let's talk about 2016 it was a big year for ZTE a lot of things happened axon phone axon 7 axon mini big Global rollout project CSX and a lot of the new initiatives you guys had with the two-year warranty and all that good stuff so what was 2016 like for ZTE yeah 2016 is a great year so we our shipment of smartphone uh grows quarter by quarter MH as you know uh actually the overall smartphone market was shrinking in the United States we getting our market share and solidied our position in the Android market as number three uh with 13% market share okay so which is good and our total shipment to us reaching almost 18 million uh units so it's great so I uh also launched a tablet Android tablet with LT connectivity both 8 and 10 in we also launched uh connected car devices really with AT&T mob and also Sy up drive with the uh T-mobile very cool uh Sly has a very extensive Diagnostics uh Safety and Security features uh in addition to be a mobile Hotpot so you have a app on your phone so you will be able to see everything going on with your car and also of course Geo fans and other uh features stop the teenagers from taking it out oh yeah yeah so I was at T-Mobile party meet mik cber so he put out his phone I'm very happy with that solution is thanks H for that so while I'm party here I still can see my that's nice you know my family where they are what's the stat of car so we're moving towards an even more connected world yeah so as you know that DT is uh Vision to be the enabler mict so ICT is internet communication technology we at M in front of this means many things right mobile many mobile many connections and also machine to machine so Z is really the end to end solution providers we're also very excited to about 5G coming so uh we invested a lot in know in 5G uh more than 300 million dollar already so we continue build a momentum setting the standard for the global and meanwhile we also be able to deploy 5G technology on today's 4G network so so that is a lot of things going on in with L 2016 yeah we we believe also continue this momenta into 2017 absolutely yeah it sounds like you have a lot of momentum going on right now and I don't think I mean our audience is very knowledgeable but I don't think a lot of people really recognize how large and diverse of a company ZT is and how much Legacy engineering experience a company possesses and in terms of 5G like it's been around the buzzword has been around for a long time um but how far realistically do you think it is before consumers can anticipate to have those types of bandwidth yeah so 5G uh is going to provide in incredible data speed throughput to the consumers and also you know the platform for the industry which can do a lot of more streaming video critical Mission you know services like uh Auto uh driving cars driv sensors the latency needs to be really low yeah because you know that speed is a in mincs means you know life and death right that's critical so DT is the leader in this area setting the standards for the global and meanwhile we are also doing a lot of creative things that to try to to partnership with a lot of different carriers around the world so we can launch that product 5G technology to the market as long as possible but for to say that we believe the massive deployment of 5G the complete 5G will be uh probably around 2020 yes so that's the key so then for that 5G you will see probably uh 15 uh G gigb per second down gab yeah so we already see that you know you can see it in your testing already yeah so so that's uh great but on the other side you know there is certain technology like massive myo and ZT it's a consense that there will be 5G technology so ZT also have Innovation so we'll be able to deploy those uh technology on today's 4G network so for the consumers you don't need to change your phone so then you will be able to get 5G kind of a 4.5g almost no I think it's not 45g it's pre 5G pre 5G because the four if you call it 4.5 means you know it's a Evolution from 4G to 5G that's still 4G technology exct but pre5g means you know we're going to deploy the 5G technology on 4G network I see so so you see the difference do and so in terms of the investment that telecoms and carriers have to make I mean in order for us to get to speeds like they did carries had to invest billions globally it's a huge Market yeah what do you think in terms of you know what it's going to take for us to get to those 15 gbes a second super low latency smart cities um how many billions of dollars are they going to have to spend essentially so I I don't know the exact number but some uh industry analyst talk about probably 38 to to 40 billion US dollar uh for us only for theet to to invest you know to operate to the complete 5G Network which is good things you know it's a good thing I mean consumers we need more speed right everyone needs more data and as we transition to 4K and 8K and 360 video yeah we're going to need incredible bandwidth you know but it's exciting yeah and speaking of exciting um for all all our audience out there there are a lot of people who really look up to people like you Mr Chang because you know you're a CEO of a multi-billion dollar company that's very successful and produces world class products I guess my question to you is what motivates you like what drives you to pursue Excellence like what do you feel it was in your heart and soul that got you from where you were before to where you are today it's about the consumers you know so we always want to do something you know and deliver the product which is consumer wants yeah so if you look into their eyes they say hey Mr Chen you really delivered something which we want so you know we uh announced that we're going to build a z community last C so we take us five months to build out the platform so we launched that you know in May last year so then until end of last year we have 12,000 active users uh registered on the community great so they are talking with us day by day about you know what they want the needs and wants and the dream of their phones so we invest resource to support that so I think that's very rewarding so now we have 33 3 million customers active users in the United States using DD phone every day so I always want to see you know how I can make them even more happier so and uh this year uh we had uh about 30 different you know members of the Z community so they come here by themselves okay so of course we facilate certain you know meeting UPS let them to be opportunity to talk with our head of R&D marketing and also our product management and also with me so I spend one day at the breakfast with them so when I talking with them and listen to them you know their appreciation and also the suggestions to us this is really rewarding I just heard from Jeff actually they just left so but everybody signed a card and write a good word to me I think this is very good real people yeah real people really want to listen to your customers so that's that's that's a that's really motivation you know so that is also really the center of everything we do at DT another thing you know you you you probably heard we we we also announced CSX last CS Community sourced devices so we let the community to come out with ideas we received almost 400 ideas from 170 countries different people a lot so so then we we let the community to vote so finally we get this I B tracking andall yeah so then we also get the the name also come from the community they have 540 different nams come up so of course we have to do the visibility study to see whether is a technical fible affordable and also n you know trademark and all things legal reviews so now we just announced Hawkeye you know project Hawkeye so yeah and we' also put on the kickstarter that's very exciting yeah Z usa.com so it's very exciting you know every morning now just only two days I wake up I check how many backers we have it's it's amazing you know it's a new model you guys are trying you're trying to listen to the people yeah just want to say big
