Don't fall into this common PC trap....

**The Rise and Fall of Demand: Is it Time to Buy Used Hardware?**

With the holiday season approaching, and the new year on the horizon, many people are wondering if it's time to buy used hardware. According to experts, this might be a great opportunity for those looking to make a smart investment. However, with the perfect storm of demand and supply in play, it's essential to approach this market with caution.

**The Power of Java**

Java is a platform that offers a unique way for buyers and sellers to connect. With vetted sellers and strict guidelines in place, Java provides a safe and secure space for transactions to take place. However, like any marketplace, there are risks involved. Buyers must be careful not to get taken advantage of by scammers or sellers who may not be forthcoming with information about the product's condition.

**The Importance of Research**

When buying used hardware, it's crucial to do your research. This means asking plenty of questions and seeking proof that the system or parts are working as claimed. Don't be afraid to negotiate, and always bring a friend along for added safety. In-person trades can be convenient, but they also carry risks. Meeting in public places, such as Starbucks, is becoming increasingly common.

**The Timing is Everything**

With new products hitting the market, it's essential to consider the timing of your purchase. The holiday season is expected to bring a surge in demand, which may drive up prices and make it harder for buyers to get the deals they want. Additionally, with companies struggling to keep up with demand, prices may be inflated. Waiting until after the holidays might be a good strategy, as supply chains are likely to stabilize, and prices will come back down.

**A Word of Caution**

The perfect storm of demand and supply can also work in favor of sellers. With people eager to buy new hardware, they may be willing to pay higher prices for it. However, this means that buyers who wait too long may miss out on the best deals. It's essential to weigh the pros and cons and consider your own financial situation before making a purchase.

**Frugal vs. Smart**

In today's market, being frugal is not always the same as being smart. While it's great to be cautious with your money, waiting too long for the perfect deal can also mean missing out on opportunities. Buyers must find a balance between being careful and taking calculated risks.

**Conclusion**

Buying used hardware can be a great way to save money, but it requires caution and research. By understanding the market trends and taking the necessary precautions, buyers can make informed decisions and avoid scams or overpaying for products. Whether you're a seasoned buyer or new to the scene, remember that timing is everything, and being smart about your purchases will pay off in the long run.

**Tips for Buying Used Hardware**

* Do your research: ask plenty of questions and seek proof that the system or parts are working as claimed.

* Bring a friend along: in-person trades can be convenient, but they also carry risks.

* Meet in public places: this is becoming increasingly common and can help ensure safety.

* Consider timing: waiting until after the holidays might give you an advantage in terms of price and availability.

**Tips for Selling Used Hardware**

* Be cautious: scammers and sellers who may not be forthcoming with information about the product's condition are always a risk.

* Use reputable platforms: Java is a great example of a platform that offers a safe and secure space for transactions to take place.

* Provide proof: show buyers that the system or parts are working as claimed, and consider offering warranties or guarantees.

* Set realistic prices: be aware of market trends and price your products competitively.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enokay so with most of the big three done already uh Intel's launch is done amd's launch is sort of it done we're still winning other two x3d CPUs and Nvidia still waiting to show their hand at what they've got coming at CES for their 50 Series gpus we're going to talk today about used hardware and when the right time to buy might be for those looking for a high-end custom gaming experience look no further than Falcon Northwest Falcon Northwest has been building PC is made for gamers for over 30 years with a focus on a true high-end gaming experience custom cases available only through Falcon Northwest feature state-of-the-art testing and design to ensure that every component is performing at their best through thermal imaging and rigorous lab and a year of two-way overnight shipping coverage providing the ultimate peace of mind to see all that Falcon Northwest has to offer follow the sponsored Link in the description below okay uh let's talk about some prices and stuff so used Market this the best time to buy used Hardware is going to be right after a new product launches not right before but right after cuz what you're going to find is a lot of people trying to basically recoup cost when it comes to buying their new hardware and stuff some people are going to try and squeeze every single ounce out of their used Hardware that they possibly can other people are going to try and just recoup whatever they possibly can so you might actually find prices are going to be maybe vary more than you would typically see them but what you're going to start to notice is you're going to start to see more of those prices dipping even lower and lower than you've been seeing them so for instance let's talk about the 7800 x3d still $476 on Amazon but if we look at uh oh I don't know let's just say eBay let's see what eBay's got cuz man for a while there the 700 x3d was going for over 500 bucks which is absolutely ridiculous in terms of pricing 476 is still ridiculous in pricing as far as I'm concerned uh considering it was what a $449 CP you at launch so for the fact that it is appreciated in the last two what year and a half or whatever that's that's depressing but anyway 7800 x3d on eBay is showing us currently is a buying now for $449 that guy's on crack here's a $59.99 not terrible because you got to remember what the actual launch price was for the the CPU which I believe is $449 $359.99 it appears to still be in box that's actually pretty good it's probably used yeah it is used but they are showing the pins and everything on them the or the pads I should say on the bottom of the CPU and that's what you want to look at you want to try and get as many detailed photos as you possibly can um if it's an LGA CPU which means that the pins are on the motherboard obviously you want good photos of the motherboard pins if you're buying a motherboard if it's a um PGA or pin grid array for the older AMD CPUs uh like the um older Zen processors then you're going to want to take a make sure you have detailed photos of the pins themselves up close you find any bent pins or whatnot um let's see here's another $350 price on eBay for 7800 x3d 360 325 311 so well these are bids actually so buy it now 350 Buy It Now 395 Buy It Now 424 best offer that gu on crack so yeah you can see the prices have kind of dipped quite a bit uh here's a 295 with 14 bids still has 4 days left so stuff like that will probably go higher than it's actually worth um if we take a look now at at Intel stuff we've talked about this a million times already um 13900 K and 14900 K have tanked in the used Market because the trustworthiness of those CPUs has tanked as well here's a brand new 14900 K advertises at $410 brand new at $4.99 still kind of ridiculous in my opinion 447 449 404 okay maybe not great deals actually when it comes to 14th gen maybe maybe maybe some of these Intel guys have been drinking their own Kool-Aid I don't know 13900 K right now is currently coming in at 339 320 319 339 the problem with the used ones though you don't know you're just you got to hope that the guy is being trustworthy or the sellers being trustworthy and saying I did all the BIOS updates I never had any crashing issues I never have any stability issues I never tried to overclock it I my motherboard didn't try and overclock it like the trustworthiness on the Intel and I think most people when it comes to buying use Hardware especially right now are going to be in that same camp just avoid it just avoid 13th gen just avoid 14th gen avoid 285 265 245 uh for kind of the same reasons which sort of sucks because they do have good uplift when it comes to like professional workloads when it comes to compute workloads but they're just not great at that that gaming trade-off but yeah when it comes to buying Ed though when the new platforms come out you're going to find people selling a good plethora of Parts what do I mean by that well Intel's got a whole new socket moving forward so with that new socket means they need a new motherboard so to support the new Intel CPUs new motherboard uh if they want to run CU dims which is what we've we've shown internally anyways on our our first layer of testing that there was a huge performance uplift by just going with CU dim and the faster Ram well now you've got one person potentially selling ddr5 and a motherboard and a CPU potentially some sort of a package deal if you will um so let's look at the Facebook Marketplace and then uh we'll talk about Jawa too Jawa is a new Marketplace that sort of popped up over recent years that is um it's a place that sort of we won't get into it today we're going to do a whole video about it but it's it's a it's a Marketplace that sort of was born From the Ashes of the scalping era and it they do a pretty big job or pretty good job at making sure that people are not up there intentionally scalping or doing anything like that they they kind of have some realistic price control measures that are in place that actually checked by humans so that's another Marketplace we could be looking at here when we talk about different uh price points and such 425 used 450 used 600 with the motherboard 340 for a 139 again yeah I just I I don't feel like I can in in good conscience even recommend a person buy a 13th or 14th gen from the marketplace used um without there being in a sealed box and obvious that there's you can always tell a c few's been used uh thermal paste will always leave some slight discoloration on the IHS even if it's been cleaned off really good in fact what we find is if people have cleaned it off the IHS tends to be a little shinier because they're using a rag and sort of wiping on it and it's almost giving a slight polish to it so if you see any sort of discoloration any slight scratches or anything on it uh it's very likely that it has been used because even with thermal paste when you mount a cooler and you got a hard surface mating to another hard surface some abrasions happen and when you wipe off that that thermal paste some imperfections make their way onto the IHS it's like trying to wipe off a cooler without it looking scratch underneath the first time you use a cooler and you wipe it off it it's got scratches on the bottom so let's just say that buying 13th to 14th gen uh is a no-o right now AMD also has not started utilizing CU dims yet so the only people that are going to probably really be selling ddr5 at any sort of a decent price are probably going to be people looking to either try and up their capacity or up their speed and maybe people selling off some of their older more early model ddr5 stuff that was slower with 5,000 MHz dim 50 5200 5600 we were kind of stuck in that like 48 which was base clock to about 5600 MHz for quite a while there and then it seemed like they busted through this glass ceiling and went into 6,000 7,000 really easy now we're in 8000s plus with CU dim stuff so so the only people that are really going to be using utilizing CU dim or adopting it is aerrow Lake buyers now those of us that are enthusiasts or even just average consumers that watch Channels like mine and and anyone else in the tech space uh we're pretty informed versus like the general population you'd be surprised how many people I still see in forums and stuff going wait what Intel problem I'm unaware of an Intel problem it's like how have you been to this these forums or these pages and never noticed so you'd be surprised the amount of people that have no idea the reason why I'm saying that is we know AOL Lake as a first gen product is not a great value for anyone that has a fairly recent or modern PC at all but the am the amount of retailers the amount of Si that sold out in fact are oversold on the amount of like AOL Lake systems that are that have been ordered tells me that we're the minority here because when it comes to the majority of buyers most buyers are not watching these videos and are sitting here uh being Tech nerds and just data junkies looking up the the the tidbits of every little Nuance of these new platforms it's just someone going oh I've got an old Best Buy system I bought I don't know cyber power iby power whatever listed on it and it's old now and I want a new one so I'm just going to go buy what's the latest thing out oh it's this Intel thing I'm going to buy that that's how most people are when it comes to buying this sort of stuff if they're trying to shop new for most consumers new tends to mean the best and that's not always true and obviously we know that so you might be asking yourself like why would anyone be buying aake well they're they've been sold out like as system builders for a long time I'm kind of curious right now though uh if I go back to Amazon what is the current price and availability of it uh 285k is sold out yeah it is sold out um actually I take that back there's one left in stock via Amazon for 700 $39 be mindful of where you're buying from because unfortunately when you buy used Hardware right now um this is also the height of scam season we are moving into scan Miss if you will so scams are are very very common this time of year here's some good rule of thumb when it comes to buying used from any sort of Online Marketplace uh where you're not meeting face to face and even if you are meeting face to face there's some there's some rules of thumb you should probably keep in mind one if you're sending money online it needs to never ever be friends and family PayPal if the person says I only accept friends and family then you say I only accept accept non-cam sales because anyone wanting friends and family is for two reasons one it's because you have no recourse as the buyer because you're saying the whole reason you sent the money via friends and family is you're giving them money you are not giving them money in exchange for goods that's what goods and services is I CR the marketplaces all the time and the IM of people posting I got scammed by so and so and then listing their transactions and then we all look in there and we see like bro you sent it friends and family you're the idiot here and then they just don't get it it's like they're also being cheap skates by trying to not have fees the whole friends and family doesn't have fees associated with it goods and services does have a fee associated with it with PayPal it's usually 3% plus a flat rate of I don't know arbitrary like a 50 or something I don't remember so it's people trying to just be cheap skates and save 3% well you just gave away all the money and you're getting nothing back for it so was the 3% worth it so do yourself a favor if you're going to send PayPal goods and services or you have zero recourse the other downside with money apps like cash app or zel or venmo that is also always almost always looked at as a friends and family kind of gift giving like money transfer I'm giving you money it is not a product exchange platform where you're saying I am paying someone for this now there are business accounts and stuff set up that way when you go to businesses and you're like I'm going to ven mopay whatever that is totally different than you going to Facebook Marketplace or you're going to um eBay or whatever form of payment you are going to send saying I'm going to zel you cuz once you send that's cash when you zel or venmo or cash app that is cash cash going from one bank to another and you have no recourse in person even cash is kind of dangerous these days if you're meeting up in person because they the likelihood of getting robbed or mugged or whatever for the cash or even if you're trying to sell something someone mugging you for the thing you're trying to sell real common items that people try and do that with are like PlayStation 5es um any sort of like graphics card laptops any sort of electronic that's the kind of thing that people will tend to try and Rob you for so good rule of THB always have people with you and make sure ahead of time they only accept electronic transfers because then they know you're not showing up with a pocket full of cash so good idea there getting back on track here because that's turned into some tips and tricks on how to protect yourself when it comes to these sort of um these sort of transactions uh it's a good time to start looking at Facebook Marketplace and such but not a great time to buy just yet the reason why I say that we need r available new hardware so what I pointed out is 285k is actually low on stock let me go to New Egg and see what they got um 9800 x3d uh obviously the new goat when it comes to gaming CPUs yes it is mostly a one-trick Pony um but they're not available right now you you cannot just go to the store and buy it and until you can just go to the store and buy it you are not going to find people putting a lot of used stuff up on the market for you to get a good deal on um let's see yeah see out of stock 285k at $629 is out of stock on new EG obviously so are all the bundles so as terrible as the CPU may be from our perspective you can see our our perspective clearly doesn't mean anything to the general landscape of sales and availability so they're gone and until then you're not going to find any crazy deals with people trying to offload their their oldest stuff and even if they were they're probably offloading 13 to 14th gen we've already discussed that AMD though um same thing until you can go and just buy a 9800 x3d the 7800 x3ds are not going to start looking all that great uh on price but the other side of that too is you have to be able to go to the store and buy it at MSRP because another thing that's not going to make people be super quick to offload their products at a good dis discount or deal is if they're having to go and purchase uh cost over MSRP to buy their new stuff so if it's $479 for the 9800 x3d and people are having to buy it for 600 650 do you think they're going to sell their 9800 x3d or 7800 x3d previous gen if they're upgrade just as an example that's a bad jump I don't think that's a good jump to go from a 700 x3d to a 9800 x3d but let's just use this as an example if the $479 replacement CPU cost them 650 do you think they're going to sell sell their 7800 x3d at 350 400 or maybe 450 400 right it's going to have a whole bracket higher because they're trying to get closer to the price they spent to recoup money that's how the usth market tends to work gpus right now are a wash because there's nothing new coming out AMD um not planning on going after the high-end Market rumors of Nvidia only launching 5090 for the first month or two is not going to help the GPU Market it's going to it's going to actually be a slow burn when it comes to the price of stuff starting to come down like for instance if I go back over here to the Facebook Marketplace and I just do a random look for I don't know let's look up 3090 cuz that's several years old now it's almost four years old came out in 2020 ah here's a $650 um gaming x390 from MSI came down from $ 750 though they recently reduced the price here's a stricks 390 and white from 800 they dropped it down to 750 all of these look like they have a little slash on the price with a new price um so that's technically a good sign but I don't think it's necessarily a good buy either to run out and spend in this instance here a 390 Trinity from Zotac for 800 bucks like that's not a great deal but if you look at what the next tier up is going to be if they're trying to buy a 90 series card you're looking at 20 you know $2,000 $1,800 easily but a 4070 TI super is going to get you the same sort of price as a 3090 at that same price so or performance is a 3090 at that same price so we're we're in this weird like everything is kind of like Performance Based pricing where it's going to cost what it's going to cost to get that performance whether it's the newest gen at a lower tier or the previous gen at the upper tier it's pretty balanced there right now but at least we're not seeing the crazy crazy scalping prices for even the used market like we were seeing uh quite a while ago now Jawa like I said I'm not going to spend a lot of time looking at this today I'm kind of doing some more research and vetting on exactly how to best utilize Java it's java. G uh I've seen a lot of people talking about this they've got some really cool aspects here where let's say you're just trying to let me put yourself in the perspective of you're the one trying to sell parts to recoup cost for the new parts you're buying or planning on buying they do have uh their like instant offers for components that you want to sell mainly gpus and CPUs so if I do um sell to Java right they have a whole button here called sell to Java in fact when it comes to selling your CPU to Java they're not even accepting 12th 13th or 14th gen kind of surprised they're not accepting 12th gen cuz 12 gen's pretty solid um anyway yeah they're not accepting 12th gen right now but let's say we have 11 900k uh they're giving $102 for 11900 K seems really low let me see what they're getting on eBay oh Intel Core i9900k for 123 here's a $214 one though $ 2191 140 111 121 129 162 199 280 they're all over the place uh those are bids $51 yeah so probably not terrible to be honest um you just got to ask yourself CU they have to be able to make money on it too right I mean it's kind of like when you watch um oh I don't know uh what's the um Pawn Stars someone comes in and get the expert to come in and say oh it's worth $5,000 and then Rick goes well what how much you want for they well the guy say $5,000 he's like I'm not going to give you $5,000 I got to make money on it so it's like if you want to sell it for full price go sell it yourself somewhere else don't sell it to a resellers idiots but anyway um okay yeah so we'll do a whole thing about Java but Java's got stuff for sale by Java and stuff for sale by Marketplace and they have vetted Sellers and then there's all kinds of rules and stipulations on how long the seller is allowed to take to send the item to you the money kind of goes on hold until you say hey the item came as described and works and then the money gets released so it's not like the money goes right to them they're kind of a it sort of goes in like an escrow which is kind of neat but when it comes to buying used I'm getting this question a lot right now is is now the time to buy used unfortunately with the new stuff also coinciding with the holiday season sort of like the perfect storm for the seller not the buyer because there's going to be a lot of Demand right now and I think that we're be entering 2025 being a high demand year when it comes to new hardware and uh yeah I I just hope that the companies can keep the the supply up to meet with the demand it's really going to be interesting to see how long it takes 9800 x3d to be restocked because if that's an the indicator to people are ready to buy if the price and the performance makes sense people are pushing back against the whole like oh we can charge whatever the heck we want cuz people are dumb and they'll buy it well the dumb people have already bought and the smart people or at least the frugal people are the ones that are left going you know what I'm going to hang on to my money until you've earned it and the same thing should work should go for you on the on the used Marketplace too you should definitely consider used or consider New Old Stock uh anyway this video has been long and kind of scatter brand in all over the place but I just want to kind of give a place for people to kind of maybe get some food for thought on how to proceed if you're looking to sell and or buy used Hardware moving forward ask lots of questions don't worry about like oh I don't want to be like a naggie purchaser no you should be a naggie purchaser it's your money that you're that you're giving to someone that computer part that you're getting if it's junk or Garbage or broken you can't just go and transact that with someone else right that money you're giving him he can transact that anywhere so you're the one taking the risk as far as I'm concerned the one with the cash that's transferring they're the ones taking the true risk here ask questions be Naggy look ask for proof say you want to see it running say you want to test it when you when you show up in if you're doing uh inperson trades and stuff bring a friend with you or two protect yourself wherever you can public places meet not in a parking lot away from everyone but like in a public place like go into Starbucks kind of a thing people will even do these types of transactions in Police Department parking lots and it's not an uncommon thing it's actually recommended so protect yourself as best you can for the for the safety aspect of it and protect yourself from scams or fraud or Lies by just looking for as much proof as you can that the the system or the parts are up and working but but beyond that the timing is almost there I still think you should wait until these new products are back in stock and maybe is until after the holidays because if someone gets new stuff as gifts more old stuff is going to get thrown into the marketplace and I think January is going to probably be the the used product month to really get excited for not just because of uh Nidia graphicss cards and stuff coming or graphics card coming um it's just you're through the holidays at this point and people are no longer try having necessary disposable income so now they're going to be trying to make better deals so that they can get some cash flowing all right guys thanks for watching what's your best tip for anyone down below uh that is maybe looking to sell or buy used Market do you think the time is right do you think they should wait like I'm saying till about January sound off down in the comments below and as always we'll see you in the next oneokay so with most of the big three done already uh Intel's launch is done amd's launch is sort of it done we're still winning other two x3d CPUs and Nvidia still waiting to show their hand at what they've got coming at CES for their 50 Series gpus we're going to talk today about used hardware and when the right time be looking at here when we talk about different uh price points and such 425 used 450 used 600 with the motherboard 340 for a 139 again yeah I just I I don't feel like I can in in good conscience even recommend a person buy a 13th or 14th gen from the marketplace used um without there being in a sealed box and obvious that there's you can always tell a c few's been used uh thermal paste will always leave some slight discoloration on the IHS even if it's been cleaned off really good in fact what we find is if people have cleaned it off the IHS tends to be a little shinier because they're using a rag and sort of wiping on it and it's almost giving a slight polish to it so if you see any sort of discoloration any slight scratches or anything on it uh it's very likely that it has been used because even with thermal paste when you mount a cooler and you got a hard surface mating to another hard surface some abrasions happen and when you wipe off that that thermal paste some imperfections make their way onto the IHS it's like trying to wipe off a cooler without it looking scratch underneath the first time you use a cooler and you wipe it off it it's got scratches on the bottom so let's just say that buying 13th to 14th gen uh is a no-o right now AMD also has not started utilizing CU dims yet so the only people that are going to probably really be selling ddr5 at any sort of a decent price are probably going to be people looking to either try and up their capacity or up their speed and maybe people selling off some of their older more early model ddr5 stuff that was slower with 5,000 MHz dim 50 5200 5600 we were kind of stuck in that like 48 which was base clock to about 5600 MHz for quite a while there and then it seemed like they busted through this glass ceiling and went into 6,000 7,000 really easy now we're in 8000s plus with CU dim stuff so so the only people that are really going to be using utilizing CU dim or adopting it is aerrow Lake buyers now those of us that are enthusiasts or even just average consumers that watch Channels like mine and and anyone else in the tech space uh we're pretty informed versus like the general population you'd be surprised how many people I still see in forums and stuff going wait what Intel problem I'm unaware of an Intel problem it's like how have you been to this these forums or these pages and never noticed so you'd be surprised the amount of people that have no idea the reason why I'm saying that is we know AOL Lake as a first gen product is not a great value for anyone that has a fairly recent or modern PC at all but the am the amount of retailers the amount of Si that sold out in fact are oversold on the amount of like AOL Lake systems that are that have been ordered tells me that we're the minority here because when it comes to the majority of buyers most buyers are not watching these videos and are sitting here uh being Tech nerds and just data junkies looking up the the the tidbits of every little Nuance of these new platforms it's just someone going oh I've got an old Best Buy system I bought I don't know cyber power iby power whatever listed on it and it's old now and I want a new one so I'm just going to go buy what's the latest thing out oh it's this Intel thing I'm going to buy that that's how most people are when it comes to buying this sort of stuff if they're trying to shop new for most consumers new tends to mean the best and that's not always true and obviously we know that so you might be asking yourself like why would anyone be buying aake well they're they've been sold out like as system builders for a long time I'm kind of curious right now though uh if I go back to Amazon what is the current price and availability of it uh 285k is sold out yeah it is sold out um actually I take that back there's one left in stock via Amazon for 700 $39 be mindful of where you're buying from because unfortunately when you buy used Hardware right now um this is also the height of scam season we are moving into scan Miss if you will so scams are are very very common this time of year here's some good rule of thumb when it comes to buying used from any sort of Online Marketplace uh where you're not meeting face to face and even if you are meeting face to face there's some there's some rules of thumb you should probably keep in mind one if you're sending money online it needs to never ever be friends and family PayPal if the person says I only accept friends and family then you say I only accept accept non-cam sales because anyone wanting friends and family is for two reasons one it's because you have no recourse as the buyer because you're saying the whole reason you sent the money via friends and family is you're giving them money you are not giving them money in exchange for goods that's what goods and services is I CR the marketplaces all the time and the IM of people posting I got scammed by so and so and then listing their transactions and then we all look in there and we see like bro you sent it friends and family you're the idiot here and then they just don't get it it's like they're also being cheap skates by trying to not have fees the whole friends and family doesn't have fees associated with it goods and services does have a fee associated with it with PayPal it's usually 3% plus a flat rate of I don't know arbitrary like a 50 or something I don't remember so it's people trying to just be cheap skates and save 3% well you just gave away all the money and you're getting nothing back for it so was the 3% worth it so do yourself a favor if you're going to send PayPal goods and services or you have zero recourse the other downside with money apps like cash app or zel or venmo that is also always almost always looked at as a friends and family kind of gift giving like money transfer I'm giving you money it is not a product exchange platform where you're saying I am paying someone for this now there are business accounts and stuff set up that way when you go to businesses and you're like I'm going to ven mopay whatever that is totally different than you going to Facebook Marketplace or you're going to um eBay or whatever form of payment you are going to send saying I'm going to zel you cuz once you send that's cash when you zel or venmo or cash app that is cash cash going from one bank to another and you have no recourse in person even cash is kind of dangerous these days if you're meeting up in person because they the likelihood of getting robbed or mugged or whatever for the cash or even if you're trying to sell something someone mugging you for the thing you're trying to sell real common items that people try and do that with are like PlayStation 5es um any sort of like graphics card laptops any sort of electronic that's the kind of thing that people will tend to try and Rob you for so good rule of THB always have people with you and make sure ahead of time they only accept electronic transfers because then they know you're not showing up with a pocket full of cash so good idea there getting back on track here because that's turned into some tips and tricks on how to protect yourself when it comes to these sort of um these sort of transactions uh it's a good time to start looking at Facebook Marketplace and such but not a great time to buy just yet the reason why I say that we need r available new hardware so what I pointed out is 285k is actually low on stock let me go to New Egg and see what they got um 9800 x3d uh obviously the new goat when it comes to gaming CPUs yes it is mostly a one-trick Pony um but they're not available right now you you cannot just go to the store and buy it and until you can just go to the store and buy it you are not going to find people putting a lot of used stuff up on the market for you to get a good deal on um let's see yeah see out of stock 285k at $629 is out of stock on new EG obviously so are all the bundles so as terrible as the CPU may be from our perspective you can see our our perspective clearly doesn't mean anything to the general landscape of sales and availability so they're gone and until then you're not going to find any crazy deals with people trying to offload their their oldest stuff and even if they were they're probably offloading 13 to 14th gen we've already discussed that AMD though um same thing until you can go and just buy a 9800 x3d the 7800 x3ds are not going to start looking all that great uh on price but the other side of that too is you have to be able to go to the store and buy it at MSRP because another thing that's not going to make people be super quick to offload their products at a good dis discount or deal is if they're having to go and purchase uh cost over MSRP to buy their new stuff so if it's $479 for the 9800 x3d and people are having to buy it for 600 650 do you think they're going to sell their 9800 x3d or 7800 x3d previous gen if they're upgrade just as an example that's a bad jump I don't think that's a good jump to go from a 700 x3d to a 9800 x3d but let's just use this as an example if the $479 replacement CPU cost them 650 do you think they're going to sell sell their 7800 x3d at 350 400 or maybe 450 400 right it's going to have a whole bracket higher because they're trying to get closer to the price they spent to recoup money that's how the usth market tends to work gpus right now are a wash because there's nothing new coming out AMD um not planning on going after the high-end Market rumors of Nvidia only launching 5090 for the first month or two is not going to help the GPU Market it's going to it's going to actually be a slow burn when it comes to the price of stuff starting to come down like for instance if I go back over here to the Facebook Marketplace and I just do a random look for I don't know let's look up 3090 cuz that's several years old now it's almost four years old came out in 2020 ah here's a $650 um gaming x390 from MSI came down from $ 750 though they recently reduced the price here's a stricks 390 and white from 800 they dropped it down to 750 all of these look like they have a little slash on the price with a new price um so that's technically a good sign but I don't think it's necessarily a good buy either to run out and spend in this instance here a 390 Trinity from Zotac for 800 bucks like that's not a great deal but if you look at what the next tier up is going to be if they're trying to buy a 90 series card you're looking at 20 you know $2,000 $1,800 easily but a 4070 TI super is going to get you the same sort of price as a 3090 at that same price so or performance is a 3090 at that same price so we're we're in this weird like everything is kind of like Performance Based pricing where it's going to cost what it's going to cost to get that performance whether it's the newest gen at a lower tier or the previous gen at the upper tier it's pretty balanced there right now but at least we're not seeing the crazy crazy scalping prices for even the used market like we were seeing uh quite a while ago now Jawa like I said I'm not going to spend a lot of time looking at this today I'm kind of doing some more research and vetting on exactly how to best utilize Java it's java. G uh I've seen a lot of people talking about this they've got some really cool aspects here where let's say you're just trying to let me put yourself in the perspective of you're the one trying to sell parts to recoup cost for the new parts you're buying or planning on buying they do have uh their like instant offers for components that you want to sell mainly gpus and CPUs so if I do um sell to Java right they have a whole button here called sell to Java in fact when it comes to selling your CPU to Java they're not even accepting 12th 13th or 14th gen kind of surprised they're not accepting 12th gen cuz 12 gen's pretty solid um anyway yeah they're not accepting 12th gen right now but let's say we have 11 900k uh they're giving $102 for 11900 K seems really low let me see what they're getting on eBay oh Intel Core i9900k for 123 here's a $214 one though $ 2191 140 111 121 129 162 199 280 they're all over the place uh those are bids $51 yeah so probably not terrible to be honest um you just got to ask yourself CU they have to be able to make money on it too right I mean it's kind of like when you watch um oh I don't know uh what's the um Pawn Stars someone comes in and get the expert to come in and say oh it's worth $5,000 and then Rick goes well what how much you want for they well the guy say $5,000 he's like I'm not going to give you $5,000 I got to make money on it so it's like if you want to sell it for full price go sell it yourself somewhere else don't sell it to a resellers idiots but anyway um okay yeah so we'll do a whole thing about Java but Java's got stuff for sale by Java and stuff for sale by Marketplace and they have vetted Sellers and then there's all kinds of rules and stipulations on how long the seller is allowed to take to send the item to you the money kind of goes on hold until you say hey the item came as described and works and then the money gets released so it's not like the money goes right to them they're kind of a it sort of goes in like an escrow which is kind of neat but when it comes to buying used I'm getting this question a lot right now is is now the time to buy used unfortunately with the new stuff also coinciding with the holiday season sort of like the perfect storm for the seller not the buyer because there's going to be a lot of Demand right now and I think that we're be entering 2025 being a high demand year when it comes to new hardware and uh yeah I I just hope that the companies can keep the the supply up to meet with the demand it's really going to be interesting to see how long it takes 9800 x3d to be restocked because if that's an the indicator to people are ready to buy if the price and the performance makes sense people are pushing back against the whole like oh we can charge whatever the heck we want cuz people are dumb and they'll buy it well the dumb people have already bought and the smart people or at least the frugal people are the ones that are left going you know what I'm going to hang on to my money until you've earned it and the same thing should work should go for you on the on the used Marketplace too you should definitely consider used or consider New Old Stock uh anyway this video has been long and kind of scatter brand in all over the place but I just want to kind of give a place for people to kind of maybe get some food for thought on how to proceed if you're looking to sell and or buy used Hardware moving forward ask lots of questions don't worry about like oh I don't want to be like a naggie purchaser no you should be a naggie purchaser it's your money that you're that you're giving to someone that computer part that you're getting if it's junk or Garbage or broken you can't just go and transact that with someone else right that money you're giving him he can transact that anywhere so you're the one taking the risk as far as I'm concerned the one with the cash that's transferring they're the ones taking the true risk here ask questions be Naggy look ask for proof say you want to see it running say you want to test it when you when you show up in if you're doing uh inperson trades and stuff bring a friend with you or two protect yourself wherever you can public places meet not in a parking lot away from everyone but like in a public place like go into Starbucks kind of a thing people will even do these types of transactions in Police Department parking lots and it's not an uncommon thing it's actually recommended so protect yourself as best you can for the for the safety aspect of it and protect yourself from scams or fraud or Lies by just looking for as much proof as you can that the the system or the parts are up and working but but beyond that the timing is almost there I still think you should wait until these new products are back in stock and maybe is until after the holidays because if someone gets new stuff as gifts more old stuff is going to get thrown into the marketplace and I think January is going to probably be the the used product month to really get excited for not just because of uh Nidia graphicss cards and stuff coming or graphics card coming um it's just you're through the holidays at this point and people are no longer try having necessary disposable income so now they're going to be trying to make better deals so that they can get some cash flowing all right guys thanks for watching what's your best tip for anyone down below uh that is maybe looking to sell or buy used Market do you think the time is right do you think they should wait like I'm saying till about January sound off down in the comments below and as always we'll see you in the next one\n"
