Drop Test: iPhone 5 vs Samsung Galaxy S3 - Which Phone is the Most Durable?
In this video, Dave from b.com compares the durability of the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3 by subjecting them to three different drop tests. The first test involves dropping both phones face down on asphalt, which is considered a worst-case scenario. This test helps determine how well each phone can withstand impact.
The first drop test starts with the iPhone 5. As shown in the video, the iPhone's screen appears to be doing well after the initial impact, but upon closer inspection, it reveals scuff marks along the left edge of the phone. The damage is not too severe, and the screen continues to function normally. In contrast, the Samsung Galaxy S3's performance during this test is less impressive. Although the display shows a small crack, it still works perfectly well. However, we can't be certain about its durability until we conduct further tests.
The next drop test for both phones involves dropping them from mid-height (about chest level). This time, the iPhone 5 performs relatively better, with only minor scuffs on the screen. Unfortunately, this drop doesn't go as smoothly for the Samsung Galaxy S3. The phone's screen is now severely damaged, and it refuses to turn on. Despite the initial success of this test, we still need more evidence before making a final judgment.
For the third and final drop test, Dave takes both phones to new heights by dropping them from near the top (around head level). This time, the iPhone 5's performance remains impressive, with only some additional scuffs on the screen. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S3 suffers more significant damage in this test. The display shatters completely, and the phone becomes unusable.
After conducting these three drop tests, it is clear that both phones have their strengths and weaknesses when it comes to durability. However, based on the results of these tests, the iPhone 5 seems to be the most durable overall. Its ability to withstand multiple drops without sustaining significant damage earns it a slight edge over its competitor.
In conclusion, this drop test video provides valuable insights into the relative durability of different smartphones. While neither phone is completely indestructible, some models perform better than others in extreme situations. By analyzing these results and considering various factors like design, materials, and build quality, consumers can make more informed decisions when choosing their next smartphone.
The results of this drop test also highlight the importance of proper handling and care for smartphones. Although a phone's durability is not entirely dependent on how well it is handled, accidents can still happen. In such cases, having a reliable backup or being able to quickly replace damaged parts can be crucial.
Overall, this video provides an engaging and informative look at smartphone durability, showcasing the strengths and weaknesses of two popular models. By watching these tests closely and considering the results in conjunction with other factors like usage patterns and maintenance habits, viewers can gain a deeper understanding of what to expect from their own smartphones.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up guys Dave here b.com and in this video to be doing a drop test with the iPhone 5 against the Samsung Galaxy S3 to see which phone is the most durable out of the two we're doing three different drop tests one from low height which is about the waist one from the mid height which is about the chest and one from high up here around your head so if you were to drop it while you're on a phone call for example so we'll go ahead and start off with the iPhone 5 we dropping all of them face down which pretty much worst case scenario we're dropping it on pretty much asphalt over here so it's not going to be not as bad if you were to drop it indoors on a you know finished flooring but anyway we'll go ahead and start with the waist so one 2 3 three three all right so here's the iPhone 5 it looks like it fed pretty well in this initial drop test you know the screen's still working and if you look around not you know too much of noticeable damage only along the left side basically right over here you can see the scuff marks along the left edge of the phone but not too bad skull let's go ahead and do the mid height drop test all right so it faed pretty well on that low Drop Test let's do the mid drop test so right from here one two three woo that one definitely packed the iPhone screen as you guys can see um looks pretty bad I mean the screen is still working but definitely is cracked so uh didn't do that well on that last drop but everywhere else looks pretty good that one dropped directly on the screen so you guys can see the screen's still working but it's cracked on this right top Edge Let's go ahead and do the high drop test all right so the screen is a little bit cracked but the display is still working we'll drop from right over here so one 2 3 and uh we got some more damage now so this time if you look along the left Edge you can see it got another crack it's kind of peeling off you know I feel like I rub my finger hard in it I might cut myself but screen is still working so in the back is perfectly fine so let's go ahead and check out the Galaxy S3 all right so now it's the Galaxy S3's turn we'll start again from the low hip so one 2 three three three and you can see it doesn't look that bad but I'm not sure if that's coming through on camera there is a little crack through the display you can see at the top left corner or top right corner should I say it's a little bit cracked but everything still works and you can see it's still working fine everywhere else on the phone is pretty much free of any damage so we'll go ahead and do the mid drop test all right so we have a little crack on the top right let's go ahead and see what happens when we drop it from here 1 two 3 three three and that one landed flat dab on the screen and you can see completely shattered um I'm not sure if the screen is working yeah I can't get the display to turn on right now so that one looks pretty bad um not turning on pretty much at this point it's not usable uh drop straight on the screen you can see the edges you know are still pretty good know the back looks fine but display completely shattered but just for the heck of it let's go ahead and see what happens if we drop it from you know my head all right so the screen is completely shattered we'll go ahead and drop it from here and see what happens all right so the battery cover popped out and uh just more of the same we got the screen being even more shattered this time around uh phone's not even I mean display is not even turning on so I can't even tell if the phone is working or not I'm pressing holding the power button it's not responding so obviously out of the two we actually look at the two phones you can see that the Galaxy S3 did end up being the loser here the iPhone 5 prevails because it's still working I mean I can still use it not that I really want you know my brand new iPhone to be cracked but it's still working but I needed to call somebody I could get the job done this guy's display is completely shot it's out and there's pretty much nothing we can do about it other than getting a replacement but that's pretty much much it for me in this video this is david.com if you found this video helpful hit the like button down here and subscribe to the channel for more videos like this thank youwhat's up guys Dave
