A Midweek 180 with Petra Bed: A Breakdown of the Latest F1 News and Car Plans

As I sat in the car waiting for my daughter's ballet class to finish, it was -2 degrees outside, but that didn't seem to faze me. I thought about all the people out there who are currently enjoying their midweek break, whether they're on a beach somewhere or just taking some time off work. I wanted to reach out and say hello, so I asked my audience to do the same - put in the comments below and I'll give you a shout out next week.

Last week's question was about electric cars and how cold weather affects battery efficiency. Let's just say it wasn't a great topic for anyone who has an electric vehicle. The cold doesn't do much for battery efficiency, and that's no secret to anyone who's owned an EV. This week's question is a bit more exciting - I'm working on my plans for next year, and one of the things I'd like to do is try and expand to car brands that I don't currently deal with. I wondered what your suggestions were - basically any brand you think I should consider and would like to see on the channel. I'll put them on my list and do my very best to make it happen.

On a related note, there's been some massive boss swaps in the F1 world. Matia Bonetti left Ferrari, which is no surprise given the team's struggles last season. Frederick Vassell has moved from Sauber to Ferrari, which is an interesting move. On the other hand, Andrea Seiditz has left McLaren and joined Sauber as part of a major shake-up. Meanwhile, Andrea Stella - who's worked at McLaren since about 2015 - is expected to take on the main job in McLaren.

It looks like Mercedes have also signed Nico Mix as a reserve driver for the team. Not much else to report on the car front this week, with Christmas just around the corner. So, I thought I'd give you a breakdown of what my video drops are going to be like over Christmas and New Year. My last review of 2022 will be coming out on Friday at six - it'll be all about the Toyota GR86, which was an absolute blast to drive. I had the chance to get behind the wheel last week, and it was definitely one of the most fun cars I've ever driven.

On Christmas Day, I'll be doing my normal video from three o'clock - a message to all you guys out there who are celebrating the holiday season. And, of course, I'll be taking a little break with the family over the New Year. But don't worry, midweek 180 will return on Wednesday, January 4th, and then things should get back to normal from Friday, January 6th. Speaking of which, I've got some super plans lined up for Christmas - including a brand new Land Rover Defender 110 HSE that I'll be borrowing from my friends at Hendy Land Rover in Southampton.

It's going to be a fun week ahead, and I'm excited to share all the content with you guys.
