Corsair H115i Hydro Series Liquid CPU Cooler - Unboxing and Overview

The Review of the Corsair H115i Extreme Edition Liquid CPU Cooler

If that looks big, that's because it is big. The Corsair H115i Extreme Edition liquid CPU cooler is 140mm and two of these cables are attached to it. These cables are much larger than the ones I have on my H90, which is a great example of how this cooling system can provide even more liquid cooling to your computer when you need it most.

I own an H90 and just did an H90 unboxing not 30 minutes ago, which will be linked somewhere in that video. The cables on the Corsair H115i are huge, but they bend easily, and they're long enough to fit into my Corsair Obsidian 750D case perfectly. This is going to be our video render machine for the office, doing these 4K videos, and I want to get the most overclock out of that chip I can. The H115i has a huge mounting head, much larger than I think even the mountings on my old H90 or the 60s. It's got lots of liquid cooling running through it, which will keep this CPU very cool.

One thing I didn't know was that the H115i needs more power than my motherboard can provide. This is because it has multiple power connectors and one for the motherboard as well. So, when building our video render machine, we'll need to make sure we have enough power to run this cooling system. But don't worry, I'll be reading the manual on that.

The Corsair H115i Extreme Edition liquid CPU cooler is a very high quality unit. It comes in a beautifully designed box, which will also serve as a storage container for my spare parts. There are no other components included with the purchase of this cooler, but that's okay because it's already very well-built.

I have to say, if you spend $100 on this, you should be very pleased with the quality of the unit. It's not every day I open something and go "wow" and be impressed. The cables are huge, the head is huge, and the overall design of this cooling system is just top-notch.

One unique feature of the H115i is the additional fan that comes with it for $15 more than my old H90. This fan can easily cost $10 for a brushless fan plus the controller software, so you're getting an extra component to your cooling system for not much more money at all. I'm happy with this purchase and think it's definitely worth considering if you're building a high-end computer.

So, what do you guys think? Do you like this cooler? Don't like it? If you don't like it, please click the Subscribe button below because that would mean a lot to me. And if you do like it, then I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments down below.

There will be links in the description box to the Corsair H115i Extreme Edition on Amazon as well as the other three liquid coolers that I mentioned in this video. If you're interested in learning more about liquid cooling and how it works, then check out my original review of the H60, which covers the basics of liquid cooling in general.

And finally, please know that Corsair is not paying me to do this review. It's funded by affiliate links on Amazon, which means that if you click on those links and buy something from them, I'll get a small percentage back as a referral fee. That money will help fund more videos like this one for you in the future.

Thank you very much for watching, and I'll see you in the next video!

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhello and welcome to Tech deals today have I got a really cool cool cooler to review this is the Corsair Hydro series h115i extreme Edition liquid CPU cooling yes they actually call it the extreme Edition 280 mm radiator dual 140 mm fans Corsair link to allow you to monitor control and play with all the settings while within Windows this is a really nice unit now wait a minute you say this is Tech deals these are all supposed to be about good deals why in the world are you reviewing this that sounds expensive you know what it is a little bit expensive it's $15 at the time I did this video and that's actually pretty cheap this retails for $150 so if you go on Amazon and the price has gone up I'm sorry I can't control that but at the time I did this video it was $105 it's a deal in the sense that the h90 is a single 140 mm fan with 140 mm radiator for only $15 less if you have a case that will hold a 280 mm radiator which is basically two 140 mm fans side by side get this one over the h90 the only time I recommend the h90 is if you don't have room for the 280 at this price differential now if this goes up to 130 and that's still 90 then that changes the equation then I might recommend the h90 the other two I'd recommend for your average Enthusiast is the h55 and the h60 which I have previously reviewed they are excellent and wonderful and they're more mainstream liquid cooling CU they cost $60 instead of 90 or 105 if you are the average Enthusiast who builds an average midtower case with an average I'm using the word average it's no disparagement meant but say in a Zeus z170a motherboard for $150 and you're putting an i5 K unlocked CPU in there get the 55 or the 60 in most cases the extra money spent for the bigger ones is usually not worth it price conscious buyers um I do think that the the smaller units are a good value however it would be ridiculous to put those into a system like this is going into this is actually going into our render machine this is going into the machine that's going to be editing and videoing these videos we put onto YouTube these videos are shot and edited in 4k and they're uploaded to YouTube in 4k uh we've decided to go ahead and shoot all this in 4k since while many of you don't yet have 4K monitors there's only going to be more of them in the future and this way they all look pretty but it takes a lot of processing power to do that so if you are an extreme user with the top-of-the-line i7 and a very nice motherboard and a big case and lots of RAM and you want the very best possible overclock you can get and you want to push it to the extreme stream this is actually pretty reasonable we will be building this into a system with a very nice set of components and when we do that we'll come back and link to it in the description below and you'll be able to see us put this in and how it all works but until that time comes I'm going to open this up so you can see what is inside the box and what you get for your $105 I will put links to all the the uh the systems I mentioned Down Below in Amazon the h55 the h60 which are both 120 Mill M units the h90 which is 140 mm and this one which is 280 so without further Ado let's take a look at what's inside and let's see oh it probably opens this way here we go each one of their boxes seems to open a little bit differently such a nice box too should be for $15 toss that in the trash over there and here we go there's the box and it opens on one of these sides here we go it opens on this side slide this up and see what we find in here very tight fit too so we have let's see warranty against defects card we have warranty gu side that's always nice to see what does that say and I'll have to look at that later it says in there somewhere how long the warranty is we have a very nice installation manual here which has instructions for both Intel and AMD chips this will fit into basically anything remotely recent this will fit into the um 1150 the 11 51 which is Skylake the 1155 and the 1156 which is uh Sandy bridge and I want to say Ivy Bridge it gets fuzzy after a while it'll fit into the uh if you go to the Haswell e for example to the uh to the 2011 series chipsets it will certainly fit into that and also it will fit into the amds like the am2 and the am3 and of course the FM series but you shouldn't be putting this on an FM anyway you should be putting this onto an am3 with a um well frankly you shouldn't be putting this on an AMD chip anyway they should be going on an Intel chip look at this here we've got oh I love it that's a nice fan that is a very nice 140 mm fan that is very smooth you I mean you're not feeling it you can't tell but that is I can feel I like that fan look see here a good four pin connectors what does that mean that means it can be controlled by the motherboard that means you you can set up fan profiles that means you can uh you can control the speeds from the software I expected that but it's always good to see and we got two of them you know when you consider the fact that this is only at the moment I did the video $15 more uh these fans these quality fans can often be 10 bucks a piece the fact that you get an extra one basically pays for the difference in the kit there's no reason to buy the h90 as long as this stays at this price point and what else do we have in here we have ah all the mounting brackets and kits now you won't use all the parts in here there's stuff in here for um AMD chips there's stuff in here for Intel chips I know I said you should install this on AMD you can uh the AMD chip you would install this on is an fx 9 uh 95 9550 I think it is put th the only the only chip I would install this on is an i7 6700k if you're not putting that kind of CPU in I would get one of the h60s or H 55s um standoff screws these will go through the fans and through the radiator to let you mount them and we have a looky here um this is really cool this is the uh the um Corsair link this actually plugs into the USB connector I believe yeah the USB connector inside your case inside your motherboard so you're going to have USB 2 connectors somewhere inside your motherboard and that's what that's going to connect to and let's see we'll pull this this is oh this is cool this is the the first time I've ever seen a 280 mm of and it's still wrapped in plastic so it's the first time I've opened it this is going to be fun to build holy smokes that's big now size-wise we'll be fine cuz this is going into a make sure the plastic stays on don't want to mess up the you want to be careful taking the uh plastic wrap off to make sure you don't take the protective plastic off because there's pre-applied thermal paste and you don't want to mess up the thermal paste make sure I snap that back on there we go wow this is massive this is much bigger than the h90 and this is why we do unboxing videos because sometimes just the experience of opening it up gives you a different wow that's nice that is nice okay um if that looks big that's because that is big it's 140 mmtimes 2 but these cables are much larger than the h90 I own an h90 and I just did an h90 unboxing not 30 minutes ago uh which there'll be a link somewhere on there to that but uh these are huge cables wow yep they Bend okay and they're long yeah that'll fit just fine that will fit just fine this is going into a Corsair obsidian 750d case uh this is going to be our video Runner machine for the office for doing these 4K videos and I want to get the most overclock out of that chip I can and that is really really nice that is a huge mounting head much much larger you know what I think I might adjust you know what I think I'll do a review of this after we install it and talk about its performance I certainly will talk about its overclocking performance I should get the h90 out so you can see it the head on here is huge this is much larger than the mounting head I think of the 90s or the 60s if that has a lot more liquid cooling running through it I reckon this will get that CPU much much cooler uh very very high quality threads outside here lots of plugs oh interesting it needs more power I did not know that but that's okay this is a Serial ATA connector so the motherboard power connectors don't provide enough power and it's got I'll have to read the manual I don't know what all these are for but it's got multiple power connectors and then one uh for the motherboard as well so I'll have to read the manual when we do the build of our uh video render machine um we'll certainly cover all this an excruciating deal I'm sure that will be a monstrously long video we might have to break it up into several cuz who wants to watch a three-hour video that's really I like this wow and um I don't know if you can see there but is that right side up yes you see the Corsair I mean the logo was quality this is a very well-built unit I have to say if you spent $100 on this you should be very pleased with the quality of the unit there's nothing else in the box but it's a very nice box to store your spare parts in and we've got our fans which can be installed in a push or pull configuration on either sides using the mounting screws that's very nice so there you have it corser h55 um no corser h15 excuse me I extreme Edition liquid CPU Cooler I'm very impressed by the quality I really am it's not very often I open something and go wow and and be impressed the cables the size of the head um I mentioned this for the uh ey link um one side of this looks like a micro or actually no it's a mini uh USB port which is unusual you don't see those anymore but that plugs into the side of the pump itself so that allows you to control the pump from within windows using the link software you know and that's not included in the h90 so for $15 more you get a second fan which can easily cost you $10 for a brushless uh fan plus the controller software so I like it um let me know what you think put a a comments or questions thoughts uh down in the description below give me feedback constructive criticism uh do you like this do you not like it do you think $15 for this is completely ridiculous me maybe but if you're building a $2,000 machine it's only $5 % of the price hopefully it gets us a monster overclock like this video if you like it don't like it if you don't like it click the Subscribe button below I would certainly appreciate that now there will be links in the description below to this on Amazon as well as the other three liquid coolers that I mentioned because this may or may not be appropriate to you I will also provide links to the original h60 video review uh which is the first one that I did that covers the basics of liquid cooling in general if you decide that you want to buy any of these coolers and this video has been helpful to you please use my links below they are affiliate links that is what funds these videos Corsair is not paying me to do this I don't get any free samples from them um that's the only way that I that I pay to fund and do these it does not change the price that you pay for your items it's a referral fee because if I helped give you good information that helps you make a buying decision then Amazon kicks back a little small percentage to me and then I can carry forward and do more videos for you thank you very much for watching and I will see you in the next videohello and welcome to Tech deals today have I got a really cool cool cooler to review this is the
