Samsung Galaxy 3 ( i5801 ) Unboxing and Review - iGyaan , New Delhi India

Samsung stable in the Galaxy series it comes with Android 2.1 a 3.2 in full capacitive wqvga screen which is at 16 million colors we really want to test that out it also comes with Wi-Fi n so this is the first phone in this price bracket which is under 15,000 rupe somewhere around 12 to3 ,000 rupe Wi-Fi b g and n it has Bluetooth 2.0 it has GPS it has Geo tagging it has a 3.2 megap camera I mean what else could you ask for in a price range like that so looking at the Box you do get a free 2GB memory card inside it does say that it comes with Android 2.1 taking a closer look at the specifications on the box like like I said before it comes with Wi-Fi BG andn it comes with the utterly famous layer app which is on Samsung it comes with swipe the newest method of texting it does come with Social Hub which helps you connect to various social networking sites it comes with Touch wiz 3 for Android which is Samsung's own proprietary user interface it comes with a faster processor than the Samsung Galaxy 5 and a larger battery it's a 1500 mAh battery instead of a 1200 mAh battery it is a full touch screen HS DPA Edge it is quadband uh HS DPA is at 3.6 MVPs not at 7.2 MVPs which is a shame although we don't have 3G in India yet so I'm sure by the time 3G is fully rolled out we would have bygone these speeds coming down first the dimensions are here like I said the 3.2 in wqvga display with 16 million colors it is a tfd uh 1500 mAh battery 32 GB supported it is a 3 map autofocus camera the exact megapixel is 3.2 as we found out from Samsung themselves uh Bluetooth 2.0 Wi-Fi n USB 2 2.1 aay now this is upgrade gradable to 2.2 and that update will be out from Samsung by the end of the year it does support push email which is uh active sync mail which is also it also supports Gmail it has the Chrome light browser the layer application and the Samsung widgets so without further Ado I am going to unbox the Samsung Galaxy 3 okay first of all in the Box here the Samsung Galaxy 3 it we'll put it aside for now we get these uh user manuals and the kais installation CD disc one and two there's the memory card a SanDisk 2GB memory card with the micro SD SD adapter data cables are very difficult to carry whereas you can carry the adapter in your wallet you also get a headset which to our liking is an inar sort of headset it seems like this headset of is of real good quality as you can see it has some stainless steel accents to it it feels nicely built it comes with the INE Style earphones and an inline mic almost identical to the Apple inline mic with a push button in the center this is a standard 3.5 mm uh headphone jack so you can use your own headphones if you lose these or you don't like them at all also in the box is the micro USB to USB 2. o cable which comes from Samsung there is also a bag to carry your Galaxy 3 pass through so that's a cool design I guess now here's the battery the battery is like it said on the box a 1500 mAh battery we also get the new design Samsung micro USB charger nothing else in the box so let's take a closer look at the phone so this is the Samsung Galaxy 3 the first thing I'm going to do is put a battery in this so that we can power it on once you open the back cover the memory card goes on the right hand side over here there's a slot and the SIM card goes in here over here you can slide it in and the battery goes in like this and then you can snap your back cover back onto the phone like that so let's power on the phone uh while it Po's on I'll give you a tour of the device on the front here are two touch sensitive buttons uh this is the menu button and the back button all also there's a center selection button no track ball no trackpad nothing on the top here is your speaker and also proximity sensors this is the 3.2 in capacitive uh wqvga screen you can see it is highly highly glossy it is a single glass so it looks really nice but it is fingerprint friendly I do recommend a matte or an anti- glare screen protector on the right hand side of the device device there is absolutely nothing as you can see it's clean on the top of the device there is a 3.2 mm headphone jack a USB port for charging and syncing which is behind this door over here uh there is a power button which will also act as your lock button I believe on the left of the device is the small hole for attaching a lanyard or a charm perhaps there is also a volume up and down down key on the bottom there is a small hole for your microphone and nothing else on the back side of the phone is the 3.2 map autofocus camera no LED flash no self-portrait mirror there is a comes with Google logo and a Samsung logo here the speaker phone is here for which they have left out a hole in the cup looking at the phone the res ution of This phone seems really nice much better than the Galaxy 5 uh the screen is larger fairly larger but does not seem to be much larger than the Galaxy 5 you can swipe the screen to unlock the device this is the proprietary Android screen that you get on top there is a Google Search widget which uh of course asks you to use the location I agree and and uh this acts as the home button just like the iPhone and uh this is the same Android uh system that comes on most devices you get three screens instead of the seven or the five uh you can customize them in the same way by holding your finger down there are some Samsung widgets like ACU weather clock buddies now the calendar clock and feeds and updates you can add those to your screen and there are some Android widgets as well which you can add like the picture frame which currently has no pictures in it because we didn't put any so coming back to the home screen there is this proprietary dashboard like the Android dashboard which helps you select Wi-Fi Bluetooth GPS and vibration mode there is no SD card installed so it tells you that you can go into the application and some other applications that come with Samsung Galaxy 3 like the layer app this app overlays information on your current map and gives you points of interest around your area almost like a navigation system but this is Samsung's own unique way of saying that they are different you can mark your favorites or or places from where you have shopped you can also Mark spots of interest going back one more thing that we really Keen in showing is the browser as you can see it loads up on the Igan page that's what we have set it at but this is the mobile site so it loads all mobile sites without any problem but it does load full sites as well really nicely in fact kinetic scrolling works really nicely on the Samsung Galaxy 3 there is there is no lag whatsoever and it I'm going to demonstrate it it also has an accelerometer so it does change uh from portrait to landscape while browsing what this uh what this browser also supports or what this phone also supports is pinch to zoom as you can see this is our review this is our featured page so it shows you multiple reviews which have recently been done by Igan so there is pinch to zoom in this which is a feature which was lagging in the Galaxy 5 the screen I must admit is much nicer than the Galaxy 5 the resolution what they call wqvga is much nicer much more crisp I can read the fonts much more easily zooming in does not break the font like it used to and it is almost if I might say without any pixelation so coming out of the browser in this this button acts as the main screen so every time you press this button it just comes back to the main screen whether you're in an app or whether you're in the menu whether you're in your photos this button acts as the home button so which is I think a much better feature than to just use it as a select button because you could just select things by tapping you do have uh wallpapers you do not have live wallpapers on this which I wonder is something that they forgot to put because they did put it in the Galaxy 5 and uh which is a much cheaper phone so there are some nice wallpapers that come with the phone so you could choose any of those also looking at the maps application now since this does have GPS inbuilt it will find your location wherever you are and whenever you use the GPS you can see the satellite logo comes on the top so it tells you that your GPS is currently in use or your location is being searched usually in the place or in the room that we are sitting in we get a GPS signal but on this I feel that the GPS signal is much weaker do it pinch to zoom does work in maps as well and uh other applications like Photo Gallery this seems easy so there you go guys the swipe keyboard works really nicely uh it just gets it just requires a bit of getting used to the phone gets used to you and you get used to the swipe keyboard and once you get used to it there is no faster method of texting on a touchscreen keyboard so feel solid there is no creaking from the device at all looks good feels good performs really nicely for this price bracket I don't think you can ask for much more more so and gentlemen this was the Samsung Galaxy 3 a 3.2 in full capacitive screen Android device which
