**The Marshall Middleton Speaker: A Rugged yet Stylish Addition to Any Home**
The Marshall Middleton speaker is a testament to the brand's commitment to creating high-quality, rugged, and sustainable audio products. With its IP67 rating, this speaker can be submerged to about one meter for an hour, but it doesn't mean you should do it by the way - just because it's designed to be rugged that's not saying it doesn't make a handsome addition to even the classiest or more stylish of homes. Additionally, the speaker's sustainable design is worth pointing out as it is comprised of 55 post-consumer recycled plastic.
**Multi-Functional Design**
The iconic brass knob in the center of the Marshall Middleton speaker is multi-functional. Pressing it for two seconds turns the speakers on or off, pressing once pauses or plays music, nudging to the right plays the next track, and nudging to the left goes back. Nudging up or down adjusts the volume controls. To the left of the bronze knob is a multi-purpose indicator that lights up in red to show levels or indicate battery charging or pairing. Beside this button is a Bluetooth pairing button - press it to enter pairing mode.
**Audio Quality and Features**
The Marshall Middleton speaker sounds amazing with rich bass on the bottom and nice clear notes up top, thanks to its unique setup with two tweeters, two woofers, and two passive radiators matched with amplifiers for both the tweeters and woofers. Notice that there are speaker grills up front on the back as well as on both sides - this is a feature called true stereophonic which provides multi-directional stereo sound. For example, if you place your speakers here or sit here or here, you'll get an immersive stereo experience regardless of your position.
**Stack Mode and Companion App**
The Marshall Middleton speaker also features stack mode - the idea is that if you have multiple Marshall speakers, you can stack them together to amplify the sound, kinda like how they stack the big amps and speakers on a concert stage. This works not just with the Middleton speaker but other speakers in the lineup as well. To start a stack session, press Thrice on the pairing button and twice on other speakers that you want to join. You can also start a session on the companion app.
**Power Bank and Battery Life**
The Marshall Middleton speaker has a built-in rechargeable battery that can provide up to 20 hours of listening. But in case your phone is running out of juice, no worries - this guy can also be a power bank too. Just plug in your phone's cable to the back of the speakers right here and there it starts charging. Marshall recommends not waiting for your speakers to go empty before you start charging.
**Sustainability and Style**
To fully charge the Marshall Middleton speaker, you'll need about 4.5 hours, but a 20-minute charge will give you an extra two hours of playtime. The brand's focus on sustainability is clear - the speaker is comprised of 55 post-consumer recycled plastic. In our conversation with Dana Scully of queer vinyl Co at South by Southwest, I was inspired by her dedication to making a difference in the music industry and supporting underrepresented communities.
**Conclusion**
Overall, the Marshall Middleton speaker is an amazing addition to any home - it's not just about selling products but making a huge dent on the music industry. The brand's commitment to sustainability, quality, and innovation shines through in this product.
