Welcome to This Week's Midweek 180: A Behind-the-Wheels Look at the Lotus Evora R
Hey guys and welcome to Pete's World, I'm your host, Pete, and welcome to this week's midweek 180. We've got a special treat for you today, as we're sitting inside one of my favorite cars - the Lotus Evora R. This car has been on my radar for quite some time now, thanks to my good friends at Hendy Lotus in Eastley who lent it to me for a couple of days. And let me tell you, it's an absolute blast to drive.
The Evora R is no ordinary car - with 95 horsepower, it can go from 0-60mph in just 2.9 seconds. It's fast, and it's furious. But what really sets this car apart is its handling and dynamics. I've got some pictures up on my Instagram and Facebook feed already, and I have to say, the reaction has been quite mixed. Some of you are saying that this car shouldn't even be called a Lotus - that it doesn't embody the spirit of the brand. But I'm here to tell you that this car is bloody brilliant, and I'm excited to share my thoughts with you in more detail.
As always, we're starting off with the usual suspects - last week's leader of the pack, Rod Mat. Well done mate! He joined forces with the Magnificent 7 crew - Malcolm Brew, Lewis Hunter, France Ben Higginson Steven, and Kevin - and took the top spot. Whoever puts up the first comment this week will be my new leader of the pack, so get ready to get in on the action!
We're also answering some questions from our lovely community. Last week's question was about insurance quotes, and I'm afraid I didn't have an easy answer for that one. But we did talk a bit about it in my previous video with the Range Rover. Safe to say, some of you had quite significant increases in your insurance premiums - sorry to hear that! If any of you are struggling with insurance quotes, I might just do another video on the topic.
And speaking of topics, this week's question is all about security - what additional measures are you taking to prevent your car from being stolen? Is it a Ghost device, a Faraday pouch for your keys, or maybe a steering wheel lock? Let us know in the comments!
F1 News: Lando Norris Signs New Contract with McLaren
In other news, Lando Norris has signed a new contract with McLaren. This is fantastic news for the young driver, who's been making waves in the F1 paddock lately. I'm sure he'll be thrilled to hear that he's committing to the team for the foreseeable future.
Press Cars: Lots and Lots of Exciting New Arrivals
I've got some big news for all you car enthusiasts out there - we're taking over press cars until pretty much the end of March! That means you can expect to see some incredibly exclusive cars on our channel, including some real showstoppers. I'm talking about high-end supercars, luxury sedans, and maybe even a few surprises along the way.
And Speaking of Surprises...
We've got an announcement video lined up for next Wednesday, which I think is going to blow your minds. Let's just say that it involves Ruby Roadster - one of my favorite cars of all time (and I'm not just saying that because she looks bloody gorgeous). minds but it is a fascinating car and it very good at what it does it's not without its flaws but it is very good at what it does but I am super busy this week but I had to bring you my midweek 180 if you've not seen one of these before this is my midweek update where I bring you my news views and information about upcoming reviews all filmed in one take I'm going to put 180 seconds in the bottom video on insurance very difficult subject to talk about um on online actually um this week's question coupled with the Range Rover video as well what additional security are you running on your car other than the factory fitted imobilizer are you running I don't know uh ghost or maybe you're you've got a um a faraday pouch for your keys maybe you've got a steering wheel lock what what kind of things extra are you doing to prevent your car from walking away from you by by some miscreant sat in the driver's seat nicking it um F1 news um Lando Norris has extended his contract with McLaren which is good news Charlotte Clerk's done exactly the same thing at Ferrari but I'm super happy as a McLaren fan I think Lando is just one of those drivers if we give him the right car this year he can do spectacular things we've not got too long to wait until testing in Bahrain from the 21st to the 23rd of Fe February and this year as it stands I will be going to the British Prix and the Spanish Grand Prix so I'm very very excited to be going to proper Grand pris this year um no real new car news uh this week I just wanted to give you a bit of an update as to the kind of things that are going to happen on the channel in the coming weeks clearly I've got the Lotus Electra um right now I'm sat in it um I did say I was going to be reviewing some cheaper cars this car has spec is 140 Grand so clearly this car doesn't fall into that camp but tomorrow I have a new cheap car or good value car should I say a dater duster now if you followed my stuff I did with future terrain you know I have a soft spot for a dater duster but a brand new topspec dater duster is just £22,000 and I cannot wait to spend a week with that car I think it's going to be really really interesting um I've got a very cool car that I'm filming with on Friday I don't want to give too much away but it has a Lotus badge on it I just given it too much never mind um uh the defender is going this week so you'll need to be staying tune to find out what it's going to be replaced by Tracy and I are going into a state of mour because we absolutely love that car and then there is a huge announcement next Wednesday um I won't be doing a midweek 180 I've got an announcement video for something really cool I cannot wait to share with you next Wednesday and also next week I knew I was going to I knew I was going to run out time next week I'm getting Ruby back so um Ruby Roadster is all done by one thing um we're just waiting for that one thing to be delivered next week and then I'm picking her up on Friday so there'll be a video dropping on the channel very very soon after that and I can't wait to share what we've done with her cuz I think I've not actually seen all I know is what we were going to do I've not seen any pictures I don't know what she looks like but we've done some really cool things Darren has sprinkled his mulgari magic on Ruby Roadster and then I've got her for a week and then she's going somewhere else to do something really cool as well um and that's it so lots and lots of I got press cars booked out till pretty much the end of March some really exciting cars for you some really exclusive stuff coming as well so I'm trying really hard to take the channel to the next level um but that starts this Friday at 600 for my review of this the lus Electra R if you tuned in to the drive Talk podcast end of year episode this was one of my cars of last year I thought it was the one of the most exciting cars to come to market last year um and to finally get my hand hands on one not many people have managed to get their hands on one and to spend some time in one has been very very interesting so there is much to discuss on Friday at 600 so please tune in for that but
