### Article: A Deep Dive into the Sea Hunter 46-Foot Center Console with Calder and Sunset Aquatic Shipyard
---
#### Introduction
Morning, everyone! Welcome to the sea off of Huntington. It’s a blustery day out here as the northern half of Los Angeles burns. This is Calder with Sunset Aquatic Shipyard, and we’re excited to have you join us today.
You might think this young man is in his early 30s, but he’s actually just 14 years old! His name is Alec, and he and his father run this shipyard together out of Huntington. They specialize in monthly boat repairs, bottom painting, maintenance, custom fabrication, fiberglassing, and more.
Today, we’re featuring Alec’s personal boat—a Sea Hunter 46-foot center console. It’s a well-rounded cruising boat that has everything you could want.

#### The Boat: A 46-Foot Powerhouse
This Sea Hunter is no ordinary boat. It boasts **59 rod holders**, which Alec actually counted himself. Forget the 59 rod holders—it’s just cool!
The boat also features **four V8 engines**—5.7-liter 350s in the back, each producing 350 horsepower. These engines are guaranteed to deliver at the prop, with minimal drivetrain loss on the outboards. Combined, they produce a whopping **1,400 horsepower**, which is more than enough for any fishing or cruising adventure.
The boat’s hull and top deck are constructed using **carbon fiber and Kevlar**, giving it a lightweight yet durable structure. It has about four to five layers of glass, plus two layers of carbon Kevlar. This makes the boat incredibly light—Alec’s dad, Sean, estimated its weight at around 25,000 pounds, though when they lifted it on the crane with low fuel and no water in the tank, it came in at about **23,000 pounds**.

#### Features: Spacious, Functional, and Luxurious
The Sea Hunter is as spacious as it gets. It has plenty of seating, tons of storage, and lockers up front and in the back. One standout feature is its **crazy beer cooler**, which Alec designed himself. He managed to fit **97 Coronas** inside, using a carbon fiber rack he custom-built. The cooler also comes with plates for each drink, allowing him to set ice on top or plug it in to keep drinks cold at 28 degrees. Plugging it in overnight keeps everything frozen for about three days—perfect for extended fishing trips!
Below the console, there’s a surprising amount of space. It has a bed, a sink, and even a working electric toilet—a true luxury for offshore adventures. The boat also features central climate control underneath, making it perfect for taking a nap or cooling off during a hot day in Mexico.

#### Performance: Speed and Handling
This boat isn’t just about style—it’s built to perform. With 1,400 horsepower, the Sea Hunter accelerates like a dream. When Calder hit the throttle, the boat rocketed from 0 to **64 miles per hour**—all while maintaining exceptional stability in rough conditions.
The boat’s handling is impressive, especially when navigating through heavy seas or between large tanker ships. It rides smoothly and confidently, even in choppy waters. The hull design ensures that waves roll off gently, keeping passengers comfortable and dry.
One standout feature of the Sea Hunter is its ability to adjust its performance based on the situation. By changing the angle of the propeller, you can gear it for torque at lower speeds or max out the RPMs for top-end speed—much like adjusting the final drive in a car.
---
#### Versatility and Range
The boat’s versatility is one of its greatest assets. It’s perfect for **Catalina fishing trips** or a quick run to San Clemente. With an 800-gallon fuel capacity, it can go on extended voyages without needing a refill. In fact, since this is a new boat, Alec and his team have only used half a tank of fuel over the season so far.
The range and performance make this boat ideal for serious anglers or anyone looking to cruise in style. Whether you’re chasing big game fish or just enjoying a day on the water, the Sea Hunter delivers.

#### The Experience: Speed and Style
If there’s one word to describe this boat’s performance, it’s “smooth.” From 0 to 55 miles per hour feels like riding in a luxury sedan—and at that speed, you can even hold a conversation.
The boat’s stability and refined handling make it feel more like a high-end car than a powerboat. Imagine cruising at **43 miles per hour** while maintaining a steady course—it’s an unforgettable experience.
Even when pushing the boat to its limits, the Sea Hunter handles like a pro. Whether you’re cutting through waves or threading between larger vessels, this boat proves why it’s a top choice for serious boaters and anglers.

#### The Shipyard: Sunset Aquatic Shipyard
Alec and his dad run Sunset Aquatic Shipyard out of Huntington, where they handle all kinds of boat repairs, custom fabrication, and maintenance. If you’re looking to get your boat painted, maintained, or customized, Sunset Aquatic Shipyard is the place to go.
For those interested in high-performance fishing boats, the Sea Hunter 46-Foot Center Console is a must-see. With its combination of power, comfort, and style, it’s hard to find a better vessel for offshore adventures.

#### Closing Thoughts
This boat is more than just a machine—it’s an experience. From its carbon fiber construction to its powerful engines, the Sea Hunter 46-Foot Center Console redefines what a fishing cruiser can be.
Alec, despite being only 14 years old, already has a passion for racing and boating that’s clear in his enthusiasm for this boat. As he gears up for his first year of Formula 3 racing, it’s safe to say the future is bright for this young talent.
If you’re ever in Huntington, make sure to stop by Sunset Aquatic Shipyard. You’ll find Alec and his dad hard at work on boats like this Sea Hunter—building, repairing, and creating vessels that turn heads and turn up the fun.
Thank you, Calder, for sharing your passion for boating with us today. And a special thanks to Sean for putting this incredible boat together. Until next time, stay salty!
