Finding Your Perfect Lip Color: A Guide to Wearing a Dark Lip
Ladies, have you thought about going darker? Today, we're going to explore an easy way to wear this edgy look with a dark lip. Before we dive into the tutorial, it's essential to find your undertone first. You can determine your undertone by holding up your arms and looking at your wrist. Take a closer look at your veins; if they appear bluish or purple, you have a cool undertone. If your veins look more olive, you have a warm undertone. And if you can't tell, you're neutral.
To further determine your undertone, consider your favorite accessories. If you tend to prefer gold, you're likely warm, and if you prefer silver, you're probably cool. However, if you can wear both, you're neutral. Not all lipstick colors are created equal, and it's crucial to choose a shade that complements your undertone. I have three wine lipstick colors available: one with a pinker undertone, which will look great on those with a cool undertone; another with a rich warm undertone, complementing those who look great with gold accessories; and the third, which leans more on the neutral cool side, perfect for both cool and neutral skin tones.
Now that we've determined your undertone and chosen the right lipstick color, it's time to start our tutorial. First, take a face primer and apply it evenly all over your face to smooth out your skin. This will help create a flawless canvas for your makeup. Next, use a fluffy contour brush to conceal any blemishes and dark circles under your eyes. Start around the inner corner of your eye and work your way outward, blending the concealer seamlessly into your skin.
Don't forget to powder up to keep your makeup lasting all night long. Once you've applied your primer and concealer, it's time to break out your black eyeliner and tightline your eyes. Try to keep the pencil closer to the lash line, as this will help create the illusion of fuller lashes if needed. Curl your lashes and sweep a lash lengthening mascara through them to build up the length.
Now, let's get to the meat of our tutorial – the lips! Before you start coloring in, make sure to outline your lips with a lip pencil that matches your lipstick. Think of this step as creating a wall around your lipstick to prevent it from feathering out. You don't want to end up looking like Joker at the end of the night, right? Fill in your lips as if you're coloring into a drawing and blend the edges for a seamless finish.
But wait, we're not done yet! We need to conceal the area around our lips to create a clean edge when wearing a dark lip. This will give you that sophisticated elegant look. Take your favorite brow pencil and make feathery strokes to create the illusion of brow hairs. You're basically drawing on your face, illustrating your brow look. If you want to blend the feathery marks, simply flip the pencil and use the spoolie brush to smooth them out.
And that's it! Our tutorial is complete, but the real question is – will you try this look? It's intense dark and very vampy, so be bold and take a chance. You'll never know how it looks until you try it out, so go ahead and experiment with different shades and techniques. Remember, as your own makeup artist, you have the power to become anyone. So, treat this like art – be creative, and don't be afraid to try new things!
