Using Android on Your Nokia X Device
You can put something into and then you can move the folder around um also you'll see that there is a color wheel down here as well on some of them which if you tap will cycle through the different color options that you have available uh and down here on the right we have our widgets so here are the widgets that it comes with um which we'll get into in a little more detail in a minute basically you just put tap on one of these and it will add it to the home screen now you can't make them larger or smaller some of them or most of them um but you can move them around so long as they are still within this normal grid system tapping the X in the corner gets rid of it and then tapping away gets you out of edit mode
Then there's also fast lane it's called which is if you swipe to the left or the right of the home screen you get to it either way um and it is basically a history of all the recent apps that you've used and things that you've done with them sometimes for example sending out a tweet from Twitter uh etc etc also even system updates things like that will be there in as well um and if you pull all the way down you actually also get access to your alarm pulling down from the top like with any Android device gets you your notification shade um one thing to note is that it stops right below the last notification unlike most Android devices um it actually pulls all the way down to the bottom of the screen
Four quick setting options are up here which you cannot customize they're there uh they're for turning on and off Wi-Fi Bluetooth data connection and your sound uh and then you also have this little gear here to get into your settings now for Nokia's widgets um if you hold down on any icon you'll get this menu bar at the bottom if you tap the right side you get all of your widgets um these are all basically the ones that come in um Android that include calendar a direct call Direct contact um direct message power control those all come in Android um they've also added uh some of their apps in here the Astro file manager which is a third party app that happens to be on the device nokas are the analog clock which is just a simple clock uh the contact which you can tap to get to a contact UM email which shows emails Gallery which shows recycles through your photos messaging which shows a list of your messages um music which of course allows you to control the music on the device and tapping it gets you into the music app playlist to get quick access to just one playlist
You'll see I have other third party ones in here because Twitter comes installed on the device so as Facebook Etc other apps that Nokia has added to the device um that aren't normally in Android is the FM radio um which is a simple FM radio app uh that requires your headphones to use um also we do have replacements for the Google apps so if you're not familiar with what the Google apps are again click the link below to head to my video where I discuss that and the difference between regular Android and Nokia as far as those are concerned um but they've had to add apps to replace those so here Maps is one of them um which is Nokia's map program which of course replaces Google Maps the store as well um which is full of apps that nokki has curated for the most part um that they probably also found that don't require too much Graphics processing because of the limitations of the hardware on this device uh so you won't have access to all of the Google apps from this um store but they do have ones that they've added in here um which you can go through and check them out of course
The Microsoft ones do seem to be featured and taking front seat when they can beyond that there is also the internet um which I say that they added it because uh Android kind of took the internet browser out of Android and left um Chrome in its place but this they don't have that obviously they have an inner browser and you can even see the little Bing symbol here so obviously searching and stuff through here will use Bing as opposed to Google for the search engine
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enokay so Nokia just recently released uh their first ever Android device um and as I said in my other video um on the subject uh it's not really aimed for the US market for a lot of reasons you can check that out if you're interested um but uh I did manage to get my hands on one from overseas uh in order to kind of do a walk through because I think a lot of people are kind of curious as to what Nokia has done with Android uh so that's what this video is I'm going to take you guys through uh the Android that Nokia has kind of put on uh their Nokia X their Nokia X Plus and their Nokia XL um their first ever Android devices okay first there is a glance screen um which is something that you might see on other windows phone devices that Nokia makes um and it basically just allows you to see notifications at the time without having to unlock the screen and it doesn't use very much battery power next you can actually double tap the screen to wake the device although you have to do it pretty hard um and then the way that the lock screen works it just displays this basic information here um and then you swipe either left or right um You can't do up or down um no fancy animations except for just that which then brings your home screen into view next let's talk about the launcher and the home screen um so you'll notice automatically that there are what look like tiles um they're BAS basically little wrappers around the icons for the apps that make them look more square likee and of course resemble Windows phone um how it works is you just have this one long screen this is all of your apps are all on this screen um swiping left and right is other things which we'll get to later um and then you can just hold down on any of these and that's how you move them around as you can see you can also if you can tap that little tiny it's hard to get to a little tiny thing um to make it larger and small smaller again resembling Windows Phone you also can hold on one of these uh and you'll see these two little menu options up here at the bottom one is for um a folder which you can tap and then create a name and it creates a folder for you which you can then put something into and then you can move the folder around um also you'll see that there is a color wheel down here as well on some of them which if you tap will cycle through the different color I discuss that and the difference between regular Android and Nokia as far as those are concerned um but they've had to add apps to replace those so here Maps is one of them um which is Nokia's map program which of course replaces Google Maps the store as well um which is full of apps that nokki has curated for the most part um that they probably also found that don't require too much Graphics processing because of the limitations of the hardware on this device uh so you won't have access to all of the Google apps from this um store but they do have ones that they've added in here um which X um so kind of curious what you guys think I mean clearly it's not meant for us people and again you can check out that other video for more details on that um but do you think International people would use it do you think it's fair to give them that version of Android and not the real version um let me know what you think in the comments or reach out to me on Twitter Facebook or Google+ um and also uh stay tuned for a video that I'm going to do on how to get the actual Google Play Store on this device um but don't tell anyoneokay so Nokia just recently released uh their first ever Android
