Google's Nexus Devices

Next one comes from All Things Gizmo, I like your name by the way, who asked at John: "4 Lakers, do you think Google will start manufacturing their own phones and stop using other OEMs from Nexus devices?" Google has done this in the past, their Pixel line has been built sort of in-house, and the new Pixel C tablet has been built in-house as well. However, I don't think the Nexus line will ever go that route. Google's been using it as a way to reward OEMs for their work or some sort of new feature that they're putting out, and they want to be a flagship device for Next Generation exus devices.

These exus devices are usually the reference phone for the whole rest of the year for what Android is going to be able to do at least as Google intends it. So, I think we'll see OEMs continue to make Nexus phones, but maybe we'll see like a third or second-generation Nexus device made just by Google. Fingers crossed, but I wouldn't hold your breath. Everybody wants to start a website, my grandmother has two of her own, and trying to figure out where you go to start the website can be tough.

Chip Gate: Apple and Samsung Collaboration

This is a question that I got asked a ton, uh comes from inck17 who asks at John for Lakers: "What was your personal opinion on chip gate and do you think you've experienced the difference uh with the iPhone 6 units that you've tested?" Apple used two different suppliers for the A9 chips and the latest iPhones, the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus, TSMC and Samsung. Their 14nm A9 chips are bigger than Samsung's 12nm A9 chips. So, what does all that nanometer and A9 stuff mean for you if you have an iPhone 6s or 6s plus with a TSMC chip? You might get an extra 2 hours of battery life on your device.

It seems crazy that Apple and Samsung are working together even battling each other in court for the better part of half of a decade, but they both need each other and continue to work together. This is like a lot of things that EndGate has been blown way out of proportion. We actually have phones with both processors, there are tons of apps and websites you can figure out what processor you've been using.

The iPhone 6s plus I've been testing as a Samsung chip, our iPhone 6s has the TSMC chip, and the battery life has been pretty close. I wouldn't thought was looking for something just relax take a deep breath enjoy your phone you're going to be fine, just a phone. It's blown way out of proportion, battery life differences are nothing drastic, so don't worry. Software optimizations and an upcoming OS updates should fix any sort of lingering issue either, so don't sweat it.
