"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey everyone welcome back to another Hardware news recap for the week we're talking about a lot of news this week the AMD 6750 G is a new GPU that's launching and it's supposed to be in the cheaper price classes in sub 300 territory additionally we'll be talking about the US Banning sales of RTX 490s to the Chinese market we're going over rumors of new super series RTX 40 refreshes alongside amd's antilag plus storyline where uh it shipped a feature players got banned from Counter-Strike via vac the valve anti-che system and now those Bans are being reversed and we'll also be going over the MTT or more threads technology new S90 GPU there not a lot of news for it but there's a little bit to talk about also this week was crazy with CPU reviews if if you didn't see them you should go check out at least the 14700 K1 went a little off the rails but it's entertaining before that this video is brought to you by thermal Grizzly and the cryos sheet graphing pads these cryos sheets are molecularly stacked in the z-axis to encourage vertical direct thermal transfer from the IHS to the cooler cryo sheet pads are made to be easily applicable for a thermal interface and completely avoid paste dry out because it's not paste it makes them particularly useful for long service life systems with minimal maintenance they come in multiple sizes for suitability on the most common laptops and desktop CPUs and you can learn more at the thermal Grizzly cry sheets at the link in the description below on the GN side a quick video interface update so we have three new icons that we're going to be introducing that will be popping up on the video interface for reviews so when you start watching review you're going to see one of the three that we're going over today and these were actually inspired by a Tom Scott video previously I'm excited to roll them out so they indicate whether the product was bought loaned by a viewer or sent by the manufacturer so when we buy the product to review and spend our own money on it you're going to see this icon if a product is loaned To Us by someone who isn't the manufacturer so anyone else like a viewer commonly you'll see this one and then when it's sent by the manufact for like for review you'll see this one the reason we're rolling these out is because like I said I was inspired by Tom Scott video he was talking about disclosures and practices on YouTube that he likes and he gave some examples from other Industries and I I haven't seen this in Tech yet at least in english- speaking Tech um but I thought it'd be cool for us to have these cuz it makes it super clear for everyone hey where does it come from it's not really for our core audience if you watch stuff regularly then uh I mean it's it's nice to have the extra you know kind of notice right up front at the beginning of the review where did the thing come from it's more for people who don't watch us a lot maybe someone dips out of the industry three five years at a time they come back in or they're a new buyer for computer hardware uh we want it to just be like they they discover a review and if they have any questions about where did stuff come from and uh what are the processes of this review company that I've just discovered then we want it to be right there for them to make things as easy as possible from a transparency standpoint so I'm excited about them now in terms of products that we review the last two years alone actually we've spent over $200,000 on buying our own products to review uh or to use as part of reviews so components that go into reviews like like memory that's necessary drives whatever pre-builts uh gpus things like that so over 200 Grand we've spent on that by price by volume of dollars we buy way more than we receive at this point and uh when we do receive it we're just it'll be one of those icons to kind of make it clear the laner one so sometimes manufacturers will loan Parts we're not going to use that icon when it comes from them because from my point of view it's like that's basically the same thing as being sent by the manufacturer uh for someone who doesn't know who we are doesn't have any trust in us yet and we don't expect someone would come in with trust for us like there's there's really no difference to them cuz it's still a first party scent so uh it'll just be the manufacturer icon as far as all the stuff we buy these days we spend the most of that money on the more expensive components we tend to buy things that cost the most and we're able to do that because of support from the community so thank you all for many years now we've been buying the majority of what we review by dollar amount especially because of the support on patreon over at patreon.com Gamers Nexus and those of you buying from our store philosophic we prefer to buy the vast majority of what we review but sometimes it's critical to get stuff pre-launched from the manufacturer it's like the 14th gen recently as an example that one came in ahead of launch and that's important to us because we care most about having a review online before people are actually buying the product if possible because our review is most useful to people if we can get it in front of you before you're under pressure to buy it due to like running out of stock or whatever you just pull the trigger without any knowledge I actually part of the inspiration for these three new icons in add addtion of the Tom scottt stuff was I was recently shopping for some bike parts different industry entirely and one of the things I was running across was like I'm seen all these channels I've obviously never heard of or encountered and it'd be nice for me to know a little bit more about their approach to reviewing a thing as I'm watching the first review I've ever seen from them because it helps me kind of frame my mindset of how how do I want to consume this content what level of trust do I want to put into certain statements and because there's no like hey welcome to the channel as part of a review that's not really clear and so this is our our rapid way of doing that without spending minutes in every review talking about our approach for newcomers so anyway those are not necessarily rendered into every video we've made right now so we have some that are done that aren't live yet but you'll start seeing them pop up pretty soon first news item AMD is launching another golden rabbit Edition GPU so previously AMD launched the GRE golden rabbit Edition in China for the 7900 this was a trimmed down RX 7900 ser series card uh with GRE tack to the end of it and sold only in China uh it wasn't made available officially in the west although you could find it and now the company is launching an RX 6750 gr it will have two variants this is based on the prior architecture of course given the 6000 series naming and the product is official it's not just a rumor via video cards the spec slide details the 6750 GRE as being both a 10 GB and 12 GB card priced at $270 and $290 us respectively the spec slide states that these will be differentiated further by a CU difference there's also a memory interface cut down from 192 bits wide on the 6750 GRE to 160 bits wide on the 6750 GRE now fortunately the 6750 gr naming shouldn't confuse anyone it's it's really obvious which one is which because the 6750 GRE is just so much better than the 6750 GRE extremely misleading naming practices aside just just momentarily the rest of the sheet details gaps in TDP at 170 wats to 230 WT and in cash the AMD branded Infinity cache moving from 80 megabytes to 96 megabytes will have a heavy impact in some games and Chinese language website XP review Benchmark the cards in a few games and synthetic benchmarks you can visit their website for the full details and charts uh but we'll share just their cyberpunk chart the site showed the 67502 GB is running at 60 FPS in what we think is its Baseline test with the 10 GB card at 50 FPS now if we're understanding their benchmarks properly that's not just because of the memory but also because of the CU count and cash change and a clock Change maybe with a side of memory bandwidth but on the naming side this is sadly a classic Nvidia move uh it's kind of like the gt1030 or the gt710 which has like multiple architectural Generations under the same name it was the gt730 and any one of those uh or like the RTX 480 where they had the 12 GB and the 16 GB and then one of them got unlaunched and became a different card at this point it's like is it even a new generation if there's not a card that has the exact same name with a very minor difference at the end of it and the answer is no it's not you need that at this point next up the US government's Department of Commerce ban sales of not just additional Ai and deep learning chips but the RTX 490 to China further inhibiting sales by us companies for high-end ships to China this is obviously a story combining aspect of politics and aspects of Technology we as a policy uh only focus on the technology aspect and don't provide any commentary on the political side so we're going to be talking about just the facts as we have them now from the story and the technology side so the US government previously restricted sales of nvidia's AI chips to China this largely included the h100 or the hopper for architecture GPU that has been making Nvidia massive amounts of money in recent months in explaining its new rules that expand these restrictions the Department of Commerce indicated that the cut down h800 and ampor generation a800 filled the Gap left by previous bans of the ultra high-end h100 AI GPU the US is now Banning sales of the h800 and a800 gpus to China and again interesting to us this also expands to the sort of semi gaming Market at RTX 490 nvidia's recent SEC filing States the following quote the interim final rule amends eccn 3 a09 and 4 a090 and imposes additional licensing requirements for exports to China and Country groups D1 D4 and D5 of the company's integrated circuits exceeding certain performance thresholds including but not limited to the a100 a800 h100 h800 l40 l4s and RTX 490 now we've known that the RTX 490 Far and Away exceeds capabilities of just a gaming card even in workstation applications things like Cuda workloads rendering video production use cases After Effects things like that it's been a top performer uh but that the card would be included in this new export ban list indicates to us that the US government thinks it's also too powerful in an AI type of research use case where it may view it the government that is as a Potential Threat explaining these new rules the US Department of Commerce indicated that the intent is to restrict possible deployments of the highend gpus and Military applications the US government claims that it does not intend to affect Chinese economic growth with the rules as some sort of industry and reflective commentary here uh we are infantas small compared to the entities that are being discussed in the story we're not even we're not on the map we're not in the same universe we're talking about major governments and one of the largest companies in the world kind of choosing where a part can and can't be sold and to us it's just it's bizarre and a little surreal to look at because we have 490s we've reviewed them we have a couple of them in the office we use them for testing every day uh and you know their their concern is about military applications and R&D that can be considered threatening from one government to another and our concern is how many frames does it make in a game that is partially broken from a few years ago uh so massively different scale that we're talking about with the 40 90s and uh it certainly makes ours feel much more Innocent but at the end of the day it does give some perspective for the capabilities of modern high-end gaming cards as they bear offerings for AI or whatever else it is uh is being debated here now Nvidia stated the following of its impact quote the company's thirdd quarter of fiscal 24 ends October 201 9th 2023 uh that's that's confusing but that's how Nvidia does their fiscal years the interim final rule is effective 30 days after its publication given the strength of demand for our products worldwide we do not anticipate that the additional restrictions will have a near-term meaningful impact on our financial results now related to this us Banning the 4090 and China news uh more threads technology comes back to into the picture so more threads technology previously reviewed their S80 GPU which was one of their first sort of semi gaming class gpus to market now for that card we struggled to get it working in most games it in some ways reflected similar aspects of what we saw with Intel's Arc driver wos except it was far far worse more restrictive with compatibility and they have a lot more ground to make up than Intel does getting any new silicon shipped at all as a feat but it does have to work for consumers to care and anyway the new S90 was spotted on a listing on device hunt by L at 3D Center currently information is limited to the existence of the S90 and the MTT s4000 the US changes from the prior story include addition of Mor Reds and Bren to the US entity list both are China based GPU chip designers Tom's Hardware notes that this will push more threads to find a silicon Fab to make its chips likely domestically which severely limits its options so effectively for now more threads might be kind of dead in the water until they can figure out their chip Supply about a week ago AMD launched anti-ag plus as a new feature in its drivers and enabling anti-ac plus could result in a vac ban where uh Counter Strike if you rep playing it would detect the presence of the feature as an attempt at a a cheat or hack in the game and then ban the user according to our viewers some other games were affected as well I think I saw one comment about Apex Legends Andy has since pulled its driver and as of October 20th valve is beginning to reverse vac banss for users who enabled anti-ag plus here's the time line so initially valve put out a tweet stating that quote Andy's latest driver has made their anti-ag plus feature available for CS2 which is implemented by detouring engine D functions if you are an AMD customer in plays2 do not enable anti-ag plus any tampering with cs code will result in a vac ban once AMD ships an update we can do the work of identifying affected users and reversing their ban now moving forward a week AMD has shipped a driver update that's version 23102 which States this AMD has received reports of some games triggering anti-che banss on Gamers when AMD anti-ag plus technology is enabled on Radeon graphics to address this we've released the AMD software adrenaline Edition 23102 driver that disables anti-ag plus technology in all supported games and we recommend Gamers use the new driver AMD is actively working with game developers on a solution to reenable antiag plus and support them in reinstating Gamers who were impacted by the anti-che band will provide more more information when available AMD also had some notes on this driver about featuring improvements for Assassin's Creed barrage which according to our YouTube Community poll we ran no one cares about uh and then Lords of the Fallen got some updates for of Motorsport it also stated some fixes for crashing and Starfield when using certain AMD gpus along with fixes for Counter Strike 2 when FSR was enabled on certain cards I think the 7900 XTX was one of the ones listed there and it's also made improvements to stutter in CS2 which we talked about in our GPU reviews for the game now AMD also disabled the factory reset option this is normally an extremely useful option for trying to clean up drivers behind you as you move forward so you don't want to leave driver Gremlins behind although Windows has gotten better with that but it's been removed for now so you can use other options like ddu or something definitely the right move for Andy to withdraw the feature until it's working properly uh can definitely understand the frustration when they found out that people started getting banned for enabling their anti-ag plus stuff and hopefully AMD is able to use its own customer support channels here to expedite some of the unbans because depending on how good valves systems are at detecting the reason for the ban for the user uh it it could be a frustrating process if you were an innocent player affected by it and you're sitting in a queue waiting to be unbanned in the time since though Counterstrike posted some patch notes and those State this added a startup check for incompatible AMD Graphics drivers we will now begin reversing vac BS for affected players end quote and the startup check should protect anyone who is still on those older drivers from becoming another accidental ban up next news from a Hong Kong Electronics Fair showed an Intel meteor Lake based handheld gaming PC this is mostly big news because the sort of dominant handheld PCS in the market are the Ally the steam deck uh GPD devices and almost all of the sort of mainstream gaming handhelds are using AMD Hardware so Intel meteor Lake would be a new one this was spotted by harazi 5719 on Twitter it was filmed by notebook Italia notebook Italia's video was set to private which maybe because possibly the uh meteor Lake showcase if there was something embargoed in there they had agreed to but the device's product code is em gp80 MTL maybe it'll get a nice gamer name later and hot Hardware captured some of the stills from the original video the spec sheet says it contains a meteor l H 20 to 35 watt CPU with Ark 5 graphics the screen is an 8 in display at 16x 10 or 1200 by 1920 it's a significant upgrade over the deck our testing of these handhelds thus far has found of course that leveraging the higher resolution displays fully has a big impact on performance not a surprise though considering the heavier load on components the back of the device has a grip molded into the plastic on each sides this is somewhat standard now each has a button positioned around the ring finger position and there's a trigger and a bumper button on each side as well ventilation is on one half of the device and we're not sure if this particular device is final yet maybe a prototype but there's also a somewhat standard set of controls on the top side the joysticks have LEDs as well resembling the Allies unique feature hot hardware and PC Gamer both noticed that the device is minimally an eight core CPU but that's the most we know about the CPU for now other than some tenuous clock speeds the handheld Market continues to heat up right now so it really looks like this is going to be the next big sector that'll get refining and development for the uh next several years we recently reviewed the Allies cheaper alternative which is also called The Ally confusingly we've called it The Ally non extreme but if you're interested in seeing more handheld gaming PCs you should maybe check that one out now we also have a project that's currently on pause due to all the CPUs we've been benchmarking but we've been slowly working through the GPD handhelds as well last one a new rumor posted by Hing 2020 on Twitter stated simply October 18th update super I'm back 480 super 4070 TI super 4070 super date TBD originally that was all of the information for the story and we elected to not run the story because it wasn't credible enough and there wasn't anything to talk about in the time since though uh there was another tweet from serial leaker Mega siiz GPU which stated quote there might be two new cards in the future 470 D6 the same spec as 470 but shrinks the gdr 6 470 super based on 8103 has a 256bit bandwidth and it talks about the memory capacity as well of video cards noted that this brings the count to three different leakers claiming a super class GPU refresh from Nvidia Nvidia has moved slowly this year with its launches so there were rumors of 30 series refreshes that never materialized or at least haven't yet there have also been rumors a couple of times now of a 4050 which hasn't materialized and the newest one that's kind of on the calendar is a rumor of a 3056 GB this one looks much more edible than some of the others that one would be rumored sometime in the next let's call it 4 to 6 months based on the rumors that have been posted so far so right now we're not sure what the status is of the the 30 series refreshes that didn't pop up other than that 3050 uh and and nor are we sure of the 4050 but the newest set is Super Series refreshes for the 40 series so we'll see we'll see if anything comes out of it but either way that's kind of the news right now for nvidia's gpus so that's it for this one thanks for watching as always subscribe for more go to store. Gamers nexus.net to help us out directly or patreon.com gam Nexus and we'll see you all next timehey everyone welcome back to another Hardware news recap for the week we're talking about a lot of news this week the AMD 6750 G is a new GPU that's launching and it's supposed to be in the cheaper price classes in sub 300 territory additionally we'll be talking about the US Banning sales of RTX 490s to filing States the following quote the interim final rule amends eccn 3 a09 and 4 a090 and imposes additional licensing requirements for exports to China and Country groups D1 D4 and D5 of the company's integrated circuits exceeding certain performance thresholds including but not limited to the a100 a800 h100 h800 l40 l4s and RTX 490 now we've known that the RTX 490 Far and Away exceeds capabilities of just a gaming card even in workstation applications things like Cuda workloads rendering video production use cases After Effects things like that it's been a top performer uh but that the card would be included in this new export ban list indicates to us that the US government thinks it's also too powerful in an AI type of research use case where it may view it the government that is as a Potential Threat explaining these new rules the US Department of Commerce indicated that the intent is to restrict possible deployments of the highend gpus and Military applications the US government claims that it does not intend to affect Chinese economic growth with the rules as some sort of industry and reflective commentary here uh we are infantas small compared to the entities that are being discussed in the story we're not even we're not on the map we're not in the same universe we're talking about major governments and one of the largest companies in the world kind of choosing where a part can and can't be sold and to us it's just it's bizarre and a little surreal to look at because we have 490s we've reviewed them we have a couple of them in the office we use them for testing every day uh and you know their their concern is about military applications and R&D that can be considered threatening from one government to another and our concern is how many frames does it make in a game that is partially broken from a few years ago uh so massively different scale that we're talking about with the 40 90s and uh it certainly makes ours feel much more Innocent but at the end of the day it does give some perspective for the capabilities of modern high-end gaming cards as they bear offerings for AI or whatever else it is uh is being debated here now Nvidia stated the following of its impact quote the company's thirdd quarter of fiscal 24 ends October 201 9th 2023 uh that's that's confusing but that's how Nvidia does their fiscal years the interim final rule is effective 30 days after its publication given the strength of demand for our products worldwide we do not anticipate that the additional restrictions will have a near-term meaningful impact on our financial results now related to this us Banning the 4090 and China news uh more threads technology comes back to into the picture so more threads technology previously reviewed their S80 GPU which was one of their first sort of semi gaming class gpus to market now for that card we struggled to get it working in most games it in some ways reflected similar aspects of what we saw with Intel's Arc driver wos except it was far far worse more restrictive with compatibility and they have a lot more ground to make up than Intel does getting any new silicon shipped at all as a feat but it does have to work for consumers to care and anyway the new S90 was spotted on a listing on device hunt by L at 3D Center currently information is limited to the existence of the S90 and the MTT s4000 the US changes from the prior story include addition of Mor Reds and Bren to the US entity list both are China based GPU chip designers Tom's Hardware notes that this will push more threads to find a silicon Fab to make its chips likely domestically which severely limits its options so effectively for now more threads might be kind of dead in the water until they can figure out their chip Supply about a week ago AMD launched anti-ag plus as a new feature in its drivers and enabling anti-ac plus could result in a vac ban where uh Counter Strike if you rep playing it would detect the presence of the feature as an attempt at a a cheat or hack in the game and then ban the user according to our viewers some other games were affected as well I think I saw one comment about Apex Legends Andy has since pulled its driver and as of October 20th valve is beginning to reverse vac banss for users who enabled anti-ag plus here's the time line so initially valve put out a tweet stating that quote Andy's latest driver has made their anti-ag plus feature available for CS2 which is implemented by detouring engine D functions if you are an AMD customer in plays2 do not enable anti-ag plus any tampering with cs code will result in a vac ban once AMD ships an update we can do the work of identifying affected users and reversing their ban now moving forward a week AMD has shipped a driver update that's version 23102 which States this AMD has received reports of some games triggering anti-che banss on Gamers when AMD anti-ag plus technology is enabled on Radeon graphics to address this we've released the AMD software adrenaline Edition 23102 driver that disables anti-ag plus technology in all supported games and we recommend Gamers use the new driver AMD is actively working with game developers on a solution to reenable antiag plus and support them in reinstating Gamers who were impacted by the anti-che band will provide more more information when available AMD also had some notes on this driver about featuring improvements for Assassin's Creed barrage which according to our YouTube Community poll we ran no one cares about uh and then Lords of the Fallen got some updates for of Motorsport it also stated some fixes for crashing and Starfield when using certain AMD gpus along with fixes for Counter Strike 2 when FSR was enabled on certain cards I think the 7900 XTX was one of the ones listed there and it's also made improvements to stutter in CS2 which we talked about in our GPU reviews for the game now AMD also disabled the factory reset option this is normally an extremely useful option for trying to clean up drivers behind you as you move forward so you don't want to leave driver Gremlins behind although Windows has gotten better with that but it's been removed for now so you can use other options like ddu or something definitely the right move for Andy to withdraw the feature until it's working properly uh can definitely understand the frustration when they found out that people started getting banned for enabling their anti-ag plus stuff and hopefully AMD is able to use its own customer support channels here to expedite some of the unbans because depending on how good valves systems are at detecting the reason for the ban for the user uh it it could be a frustrating process if you were an innocent player affected by it and you're sitting in a queue waiting to be unbanned in the time since though Counterstrike posted some patch notes and those State this added a startup check for incompatible AMD Graphics drivers we will now begin reversing vac BS for affected players end quote and the startup check should protect anyone who is still on those older drivers from becoming another accidental ban up next news from a Hong Kong Electronics Fair showed an Intel meteor Lake based handheld gaming PC this is mostly big news because the sort of dominant handheld PCS in the market are the Ally the steam deck uh GPD devices and almost all of the sort of mainstream gaming handhelds are using AMD Hardware so Intel meteor Lake would be a new one this was spotted by harazi 5719 on Twitter it was filmed by notebook Italia notebook Italia's video was set to private which maybe because possibly the uh meteor Lake showcase if there was something embargoed in there they had agreed to but the device's product code is em gp80 MTL maybe it'll get a nice gamer name later and hot Hardware captured some of the stills from the original video the spec sheet says it contains a meteor l H 20 to 35 watt CPU with Ark 5 graphics the screen is an 8 in display at 16x 10 or 1200 by 1920 it's a significant upgrade over the deck our testing of these handhelds thus far has found of course that leveraging the higher resolution displays fully has a big impact on performance not a surprise though considering the heavier load on components the back of the device has a grip molded into the plastic on each sides this is somewhat standard now each has a button positioned around the ring finger position and there's a trigger and a bumper button on each side as well ventilation is on one half of the device and we're not sure if this particular device is final yet maybe a prototype but there's also a somewhat standard set of controls on the top side the joysticks have LEDs as well resembling the Allies unique feature hot hardware and PC Gamer both noticed that the device is minimally an eight core CPU but that's the most we know about the CPU for now other than some tenuous clock speeds the handheld Market continues to heat up right now so it really looks like this is going to be the next big sector that'll get refining and development for the uh next several years we recently reviewed the Allies cheaper alternative which is also called The Ally confusingly we've called it The Ally non extreme but if you're interested in seeing more handheld gaming PCs you should maybe check that one out now we also have a project that's currently on pause due to all the CPUs we've been benchmarking but we've been slowly working through the GPD handhelds as well last one a new rumor posted by Hing 2020 on Twitter stated simply October 18th update super I'm back 480 super 4070 TI super 4070 super date TBD originally that was all of the information for the story and we elected to not run the story because it wasn't credible enough and there wasn't anything to talk about in the time since though uh there was another tweet from serial leaker Mega siiz GPU which stated quote there might be two new cards in the future 470 D6 the same spec as 470 but shrinks the gdr 6 470 super based on 8103 has a 256bit bandwidth and it talks about the memory capacity as well of video cards noted that this brings the count to three different leakers claiming a super class GPU refresh from Nvidia Nvidia has moved slowly this year with its launches so there were rumors of 30 series refreshes that never materialized or at least haven't yet there have also been rumors a couple of times now of a 4050 which hasn't materialized and the newest one that's kind of on the calendar is a rumor of a 3056 GB this one looks much more edible than some of the others that one would be rumored sometime in the next let's call it 4 to 6 months based on the rumors that have been posted so far so right now we're not sure what the status is of the the 30 series refreshes that didn't pop up other than that 3050 uh and and nor are we sure of the 4050 but the newest set is Super Series refreshes for the 40 series so we'll see we'll see if anything comes out of it but either way that's kind of the news right now for nvidia's gpus so that's it for this one thanks for watching as always subscribe for more go to store.
