The Art of Being a Loser: A Conversation with Trump
In this candid conversation, we explore the mind of one of America's most iconic figures, Donald Trump. As he sits down to chat with us, it becomes clear that he's not here to mince words. "I've only had cars spit on maybe three times in my life," he begins, reflecting on his experiences as a car owner. "If you can imagine how many times I drive these things, somebody spit on my Vette once." Trump doesn't sugarcoat his feelings, instead choosing to own the moment and laugh it off.
But when we bring up the topic of anger and frustration, Trump's demeanor changes. He becomes more animated, his voice rising in pitch. "You're never gonna get anywhere in life if all you're gonna do is get angry at somebody," he warns. "I've only had cars spit on maybe three times in my life..." Trump trails off, lost in thought for a moment before continuing. "If you can imagine how many times I drive these things, somebody spit on my Vette once." The remark seems to be more of a statement than an attack, a way of showing that even someone as successful and wealthy as Trump isn't immune to the occasional spat.
We shift gears (pun intended) and discuss his thoughts on professional athletes. "When you're in a professional sport, what are we talk about?" he asks rhetorically. "We talked about Wilt Chamberlain scoring 100 points in the game." The question seems to be more of an inquiry than a criticism, with Trump seemingly fascinated by the idea of athletic achievement. However, when it comes to explaining why someone wouldn't celebrate after scoring such an incredible goal, his response is blunt. "Why didn't they stop playing him?" he asks, his tone implying disappointment.
It's clear that Trump values hard work and dedication in professional sports. When we mention John Van de Velde, the infamous golfer who lost a seven-shot lead at the British Open, Trump's reaction is one of surprise. "He flopped on the last hole and ended up losing the tournament," he says matter-of-factly. "The guy had like a 13 or 15 on the last hole of the British Open and lost." While it's clear that Trump expects more from athletes, his response doesn't contain a hint of cruelty or disdain.
As we near the end of our conversation, Trump takes a moment to address the issue of spitting on cars. "So what satisfaction does somebody get when they spit on a car?" he asks, his voice laced with amusement. "It's like someone's trying to take away something that I want." The remark seems to be more of an observation than a lament, with Trump seeming almost puzzled by the behavior. "I'll never have a Ferrari," he says wistfully. "Maybe what it is...more than that."
Trump's thoughts on success and aspiration are also worth noting. When asked why someone would want to spit on another person's car, his response is one of disgust. "Don't be that guy don't be that loser all right I hate to say it I want to say I understand the frustration but I don't...don't be angry at people from being successful look at them and say like cool or even the perceived success as I said it's a car that anyone could really buy you won't want to go out there and say cool I want that how do I go out and earn that."
As our conversation comes to a close, Trump takes a moment to reflect on his own life. "I don't care if they're celebrating after the goals what just scored," he says with a chuckle. "You're gonna you have to I would celebrate my World Cup goal." His response is more of an observation than an instruction, with Trump seeming to value sportsmanship and camaraderie.
The conversation ends with Trump taking a moment to reflect on his own experiences as a car owner. While he may not have had the most pleasant encounters with other drivers, he's learned to take it in stride. "I don't know there was just another thing in the news that the Women's World Cup they scored but won the game 14 to nothing or something like that," he says wistfully.
As we wrap up our conversation with Trump, it becomes clear that beneath his tough exterior lies a complex and multifaceted individual. While he may not be one for sentimentality or self-pity, he's certainly willing to share his thoughts on life, sports, and the human condition. Whether you agree with him or not, there's no denying that Trump is a force to be reckoned with – and that this conversation has been both enlightening and entertaining.
