NZXT Kraken X62 Unboxing & Installation

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enlet's give this another shot shall we hey guys how are you david defranco here from kits.com slash david racco check it out that is an up-to-date list of every single part that i'm currently using and will be using in my brand new custom built gaming pc it's not done yet but it's getting very close now if you watched my previous build video link right below check it out i appreciate it at the very end unfortunately i found out my thermaltake cpu cooler could not fit and i had some people say well david why don't you try flipping it around taking the front panel off no no no guys it wouldn't fit whatsoever trust me it was just too tall on the top and too tall on the bottom so i did some research and apparently the nzxt kraken x62 works perfectly with the nzxt s340 elite which makes sense nzxt nzxt it's going to be a one-to-one experience and this is going to fit perfectly so in today's video i am going to upgrade actually not technically upgrade because there's nothing in here i'm just going to simply install this i'm looking for my knife i found it and just hope it works then my next video i'm going to install my graphics card 1080 ti yes i went all out it was not a cheap card but i'm serious about this gaming stuff guys i had been a console gamer all my life then i went through a pc gaming phase for a couple years and then eventually i just lost interest in pc gaming because i switched to the mac because of graphic design video editing and all that stuff now my interest of apple is not dying anytime soon but i do want to introduce some pc gaming back into my life and just windows in general yeah it's gonna be really nice having some daily experience with windows once again um so there you go i'm just saying that because there's no reason why you can't use both blackboards mac os and windows they both do an excellent job at different things okay so here we go the nzxt kraken x62 now what's funny is this is the cooler i was originally gonna buy and then a friend of mine danny minnick you're watching i know what up dude what up how are you he said no david you have to go for the thermal tape because the fans light up well i was like okay obviously i agree because i love lights but i'd even think it wasn't gonna fit this isn't a small case it's actually very roomy but it's also compact so this will definitely work okay david get on with it and this video is going to be a little lengthy just to warn you so grab a cup of coffee grab a beer shot a fireball whatever you want and enjoy so here we go let's unbox the kraken x62 a manual which i will be referencing and let's take this out very carefully let's put the screws over here these screws are for the hard drive that i just installed yes i installed a two terabyte hard drive off camera and i finally connected my ssd my one terabyte samsung um 850 evo or evo 850 i always interchanged it too with my sata cable so that is done and there is the box i will keep that in good condition just in case i had to return this one too but let's hope that is not the case okay this is just like the thermaltake packaging same exact setup but less parts it's i don't know we got a lot of parts we have one for amd and one for intel this is intel i'm using a coffee lake chip the 8700k and by the way i haven't even booted this processor yet i mean this uh pc so yeah it could not work for all i know but let's hope it does work because i've been putting a lot of time and a lot of money into this thing however i'm not booting it in this video this is simply um about the cpu cooler and nothing else okay so let's get started guys let's get started enough talking this cardboard should slip right off maybe yep there it goes very cool boom and we have the main component right over here again this looks exactly like a thermal tank just slightly different design take off the protection and by the way this lights up on the front it's going to look amazing i'm going to leave this little plastic thing on for now because underneath that is actually the thermal paste or thermal compound whatever you want to call it so yes that means you do not have to use your own it's already pre-applied which is great so let's open this this is just a fan almost dropped it there boom nothing fancy a basic fan but it's gonna get the job done i believe it's two 140s right two 140s where is the packaging yes two 140s because it's 280 140 times two 280 good math david good math and the other fan which is right here so there you go we got two 140 fans and they got some nice weight to it and of course a bunch of parts that i talked about already all right i'm going to clean up my desk get started and i will walk you guys through the process hey okay i have all the parts out that i need right there boom boom boom so i have the manual right here and by the way i saved the amd part you never know when you're gonna switch intel chips to amd chip probably never but it's always safe to have or if somebody wants that let me know and i'll send it to you okay wow you know what's really cool this layout slash manual looks exactly like my case manual which is currently on the desk because i was looking for ways to take off the front panel which required a lot of force so if you have this same case and you have to rip off the front just do it you have to rip it at like a 45 degree angle it's not that hard but i'm not gonna lie it made me a little nervous because i didn't want to snap anything off but it came off it came off eventually okay so here we go and i'm actually glad i took off the front because i'm pretty sure i'm gonna need front access to these two okay so here we go preparation all right so my chip is one one five one on the intel back plate move all four sliders to the innermost positions for socket 115 x or the outermost positions for socket one three six six so mine's innermost so these little sliders right here check it out this is just like the uh thermaltake you slide them inward and i think they were like that by default which is nice so installing the back plate we're gonna have to go on the other side of the tower this should be fairly straightforward please ensure the sliders fit into the holes and the back plated cpu socket fit within i know so e we're going to use those standoffs that came included right here we're gonna need four of them so get them out of the bag and as always it is nice to stay organized now my last video i'll admit screws and cables were everywhere and the cleanup process was mildly frustrating so be sure to keep track of everything you do because it's obviously um important to look back on parts that you might need in the future all right so standoffs let me put this aside put the fans over there okay this is the best angle i can get for you guys so let's take the back plate right here once again make sure these are on the innermost position with my case you're gonna have to squeeze the bottom left portion in a little bit because it's a pretty tight fit but you're fine you're not gonna hurt anything on the board just gotta be very careful okay the back plate is installed i'll admit rookie mistake and this is just me being perfectly honest i'm sure others have done this i accidentally started putting the standoffs on this side the rear side of the computer obviously you don't want to do that you want to put them on this side and thus resulting in my dropping one of the standoffs down the motherboard but thankfully it came out in a convenient location okay so for real this time also you've got to understand when you're making an install video during an install process your mind isn't completely there so the chances of making stupid mistakes a little higher a little higher than usual but that's why we make videos isn't it to look back on our mistakes and learn from our mistakes the thing is i did it right the first time with the first cooler i guess i was just sticking opposite all right so basically we're just tightening the back light to the motherboard that way it doesn't go anywhere and then the cooler is going to sit on the standoffs okay so i'm installing the fans and then this is the pump over here and some of the fans is very easy it just depends on which way you want to install the fans you can technically install the fans on this side if you want because the manual does have instructions for both um mounting options we have direct mounting where the fans are more inside the case and then we have indirect mounting where the fans are more on the case itself so i guess with me i'm going with indirect mounting for mounting which the fans fit between the radiator and the chassis please use a 30 millimeter fan screws and washers for mounting okay so the radiator is installed the fans are installed i think i did it correctly i'm pretty sure this is the better way for me to move airflow per my case and if it's not not a big deal i can simply put the fans on this side of the radiator and then put the radiator flat against the case but i'm pretty sure this is the way i want to go also i may have been wrong in my previous build video and i have no problem in admitting when i'm wrong just keep in mind this is a learning process you're meant to make mistakes and learn from those mistakes the previous cooler the thermaltake cooler may have fit if i did what i did with this one because this just fit so i'm thinking maybe the other one would have actually fit and in theory it could have looked cooler with the lights but then again maybe it would have been overkill with the lights i don't know but i do know this this part the actual pump does light up you can do animations and everything so at least there's that and i have lights from these fans my motherboard lights up i believe and even the ram lights up which is really cool the ram alone is going to be a really awesome looking accent on the right side of the case and if anything check it out maybe i can get some led strips and put some over here like maybe small size ones i don't know how small they get but i'm assuming i could put one right here but anyway i will worry about that in the future this thing is gonna look awesome hopefully everything's connected by the time i want to boot it up i have a feeling i forgot a few things i mean obviously i'm not ready just yet but cool that was pretty smooth okay here we go what do you say we connect the pump this is the scary part because once again the thermal paste compound whatever you want to call it is pre-applied so you want to make sure you get it right the first time but i don't see why not because these holes right here are going to align with the standoffs that we've already installed on the motherboard all right this should be very easy just gonna pop it on the standoffs but once again pay attention to the holes for socket 115x which is me one one five one we're going to use the innermost hole just like the innermost hole on the um mounting bracket on the back so easy enough making these kinds of videos is not the easiest thing i think in the future i'm gonna try to do pc builds in the office i don't know how often i'll do pc builds but i'm willing to give future builds a shot just for fun why not okay so here we go take the plastic off make sure you position it where the nzxt logo is facing right side up you don't want it upside down we're going to put it on the innermost holes right we're good cpu is cleaned off with acetone from the previous cooler we're going to align this let me see okay you're going to want to have the thumb screws handy the thermal paste already touched the cpu that's okay we're going to apply it again and you're going to want to immediately it's not the easiest thing to do in front of a camera we're going to want to immediately put one of the thumb screws on just to hold it in place not the best angle sorry guys make it snug but not too tight and let's do a crisscross fashion just like previous components it'd be nice if the thumb screw is facing the right way whole pc building thing is fun but it's a long process at least for someone like me but future builds i do have confidence in doing everything within two hours i mean it's like anything in life this is technically a skill so as you get better at that skill you'll get the job done faster and more efficiently all right we should be good touching the cpu good and keep in mind the plate was pre-installed for intel users like myself but if you are using an amd chip be sure to swap it out with the proper plate this one was there already which is nice now for the really easy part we're going to connect usb and power this should take no longer than a minute or two all right per the manual you're going to want to connect the fans first powering the fans right here you get a cable which supports i believe up to four fans at once which is very nice and you connect each fan one by one in this case we only have two fans so i'm just going to connect let me see the top one of the first one just because i'm ocd like that just make sure it aligns with the pins you don't want to be betting anything there you go and i think i'm going to leave the tie wrap on just because it makes it look cleaner and now for the second fan which i fed through this hole as i'm telling you the um nzxt s340 elite has excellent cable management and i'm going to put it on here the second one just so they're in order and then on the end we have the power connector you can connect this to any existing power extension cable boom snaps right in and then what do we have left this little guy this is a three pin power connector you need to connect the three pin connector on the power cable set to the four pin cpu fan connector on the motherboard so that means we need to go to the front come on so this means we are going to have to do a little bit of cable re-management and that's gonna sit i guess right there that three pin connector let me reference my motherboard manual one just to be safe it never hurts where is that manual manual who oh you get it emanuel who no seriously where is it i need it don't want to take any chances i found it i found it so let's go to my favorite page here because i referenced this a lot yup number three cpu cpu optional high amp extension water pump aio pump yup that's exactly what i need good so let's connect that where is that cable i guess we'll bring it through the top here again i can't imagine this case is outstanding this very carefully it's getting a little tight in here i guess that's a good thing that means we're getting closer and closer to the end connected fan cable city fan connectors on the motherboard ensuring that the black wire reach cable matches the ground pin of the connector so aio pump fourth is a ground all right let me hand hold you guys for a bit damn look at that reflection that's insane that is so cool it's a straight up mirror that's amazing looking okay so anyway i had to take out the top connector which made room for the bottom connector now that's going to this right here this little uh fan connector so now that's set up and i reconnected the two top cables now the usb cable where is that there it is this is really easy all right so let's plug in usb which is mini usb right there i probably should have plugged this in first because it's a little tight actually that was incredibly easy boom and now i have room for one usb down here it looks like room for one actually you know what it looks like i don't have room for another usb hmm that's unfortunate because i'm currently using two down here what do i do about that all right so i obviously want this interfacing hello with the motherboard that way i can control the lights and all that stuff hmm what do i do these two usbs actually i think one of them is just a usb 2.0 up here then we have usb 3.0 so i think i'm going to disconnect usb 2.0 up top i'm assuming that's that one and then another one is the fans the corsair fans i have so let's disconnect that for now do you have to squeeze anything or do you just pull it pry that out of there okay so the top usb up here you can't see it but it's there the top usb 2.0 ports are technically inactive right now not a big deal but usb 3.0 are active so for now i'm going to put that cable under there and we will revisit that in the future now answer me this and i'm curious is there some kind of cable that i can get that will turn one of these usb 2.0 connectors into two usb 2.0 connectors i don't see why not so this is going to be plugged into the motherboard directly however for the sake of cable management hmm what's the best way to go about this maybe first of all suck this back here i'm all about cable management guys i cannot stand a messy looking pc so let's put those fan cables back there i will clip those later so usb 2.0 so usb hmm how do i do you think i have enough room over there to go in and out i'll be back i've got some thinking to do and once again the s340 elites excellent cable management comes through for me check it out it turns out that cable was long enough so i routed it boom going up going down here through these little clips through there and into the motherboard so i think that is it in theory we're done now i'm not going to power it on yet because i want to install my graphics card next so that is its own video david back out don't do man don't zoom in i'm kind of hand holding the camera right now the tripod is over there so guys thank you so much for watching i hope you enjoyed all right yes i was a bit of a noob in this video yes i definitely learned a lot especially with cable management i'm obsessed with cable management guys look how reflective the pump is look at that it's insane just absolutely insane all right if you guys want this you can buy it on kit kit.com david defranco it's like 140 it wasn't too crazy but it's not the most affordable cpu cooler out there but i think it's gonna look nice and it's gonna work extremely well thank you so much watching stay tuned for my graphics card unboxing the 1080 ti which is right over there and i'll see you then peace youlet's give this another shot shall we hey guys how are you david defranco here from kits.com slash david racco check it out that is an up-to-date list of every single part that i'm currently using and will be using in my brand new custom built gaming pc it's not done yet motherboard directly however for the sake of cable management hmm what's the best way to go about this maybe first of all suck this back here i'm all about cable management guys i cannot stand a messy looking pc so let's put those fan cables back there i will clip those later so usb 2.0 so usb hmm how do i do you think i have enough room over there to go in and out i'll be back i've got some thinking to do and once again the s340 elites excellent cable management comes through for me check it out it turns out that cable was long enough so i routed it boom going up going down here through these little clips through there and into the motherboard so i think that is it in theory we're done now i'm not going to power it on yet because i want to install my graphics card next so that is its own video david back out don't do man don't zoom in i'm kind of hand holding the camera right now the tripod is over there so guys thank you so much for watching i hope you enjoyed all right yes i was a bit of a noob in this video yes i definitely learned a lot especially with cable management i'm obsessed with cable management guys look how reflective the pump is look at that it's insane just absolutely insane all right if you guys want this you can buy it on kit kit.com david defranco it's like 140 it wasn't too crazy but it's not the most affordable cpu cooler out there but i think it's gonna look nice and it's gonna work extremely well thank you so much watching stay tuned for my graphics card unboxing the 1080 ti which is right over there and i'll see you then peace you\n"
