Equipment Coverage for CES and Computex
We're excited to bring you coverage from CES and Computex this year, and we've got all the right equipment to do it justice. Our team is equipped with the latest technology and innovative solutions to capture high-quality video and audio. One of our key pieces of equipment is a portable power solution that allows us to stay powered on the go. We're using a 1080p capable device, which may not have the highest resolution, but in terms of performance power, it's very nice and portable.
We've also got rendering solutions for coverage exactly like this. Both CES and Computex are going to be covered with our external storage, so we'll have USB3 external drives that will drop off all of our coverage just in case anything happens to the laptops. We'll still have all of our footage backed up on extra CF cards because covering these types of events can result in a lot of footage. While we're shooting throughout the day, we'll also have extra CF cards as backup.
We've also got an 11,000 Mah hour battery pack from Gear power that will be used for our cell phones. This means that we'll be able to charge our cell phones while we are covering CES, just in case we need extra power. We're also carrying a USB 3 card reader because we'll be loading 32 GB footage from the CF card onto the computer, and it's a Time power hog. A USB 3 is totally crucial for work like this.
In addition to our equipment, we've also got a battery charging station that will keep all of our batteries charged throughout the day. This includes spare batteries for the camera, as well as spare batteries for the LED lights. Everything will be charged and ready to go for the next time we need it.
Our camera bag is another essential piece of equipment that we're bringing with us. It's huge, padded, and has a notebook pocket on the inside where my laptop can fit comfortably. Matt's camera will also have his own dedicated spot in the bag, complete with a back to prevent any damage during transportation. The bag is also designed for TSA checks, which we'll be facing at one point.
We're packing very light, but bringing all of the essentials for event coverage. This includes high-quality LED lights, battery packs, and a microphone that can capture crisp audio in loud environments. We're using a lavalier mic, which allows me to speak freely without having to worry about my level. I've set it up so that I'm peeking at -6 dB, which is the ideal level for capturing high-quality audio.
We'll be packing our equipment carefully, with each piece of gear going into its own designated spot in the bag. The Zoom H4N will go into my pocket, and the XLR cable will be stashed away somewhere safe. We've also got a handheld mic that we can use for interviews, which will allow us to capture high-quality audio without having to get too close to the subject.
We're excited to bring you coverage from CES and Computex this year, and we'll be using all of these pieces of equipment to do it justice. Our team is looking forward to working hard and bringing you the latest and greatest in tech news and reviews. We'll be in Las Vegas for CNET Live, which promises to be an exciting event with plenty of new gadgets and technology to cover.
We're also looking forward to braving the elements in Las Vegas, where it's supposed to be around 10 degrees during the day. That may not sound like a lot, but compared to Toronto, where it was snowing at this very moment, we'll be feeling quite warm! We'll be bringing our A-game and making sure that our coverage is top-notch, so stay tuned for all of the latest news from CES and Computex.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enyour hocu CS 2014 coverage is brought to you by nc.com technology connected so hey guys I'm Dimitri and this is Matt and as you can see we're getting ready for CS 2014 our coverage is going to be super awesome really excited but we decided to give you a little bit of a glimpse of how we are planning to cover CS 2014 uh based on my short experience with computex I've gotten a little bit better in terms of um knowing what to bring and how to pack for Cs and pack for this type of coverage so this is Matt this is going to be our sort of regular rig as you can see this is our very handy handheld uh rig from genius there's our beautiful lens with the camera and of course an LED light that is definitely going to be needed because um CES is mainly in sweets I'm not exactly sure about the lighting in the Suites so that um this LED light will definitely be useful for darker conditions even though we have 1.5 lens which is awesome uh enough of uh this rig it's very simple it's very basic it's nice and light and we're also going to have uh a monopod that attaches to the bottom of the rig because you know filming the entire CS show for an entire day you know Matt and I are going to get jacked afterwards because the rig actually is pretty heavy so this is going to attach to the bottom and let me just turn off the cell phone camera so that we I can show you how this attaches so it's it's very simple boom boom boom boom like this the the rig is going to be attached onto the top and that way you can have the rig for an entire day it's very handy this is something that I really wish I had at computex uh as you can see the light is uh sort of also evening out the shadows in my face which is useful to not create a very darker image so at the LED light on top of the camera is also something I missed uh in computex of course everything will be editing on these two laptops from Asus um they actually have the same specs pretty much this is only a 1080p but in terms of performance power very nice and portable sort of rendering solutions for uh coverage exactly like this both CES and computex uh obviously we'll have external storage so we have usb3 uh external drives that will drop off all of our coverage just in case anything happens to the laptops we'll still have all of our footage uh extra CF cards because covering things with you know there's going to be so much footage that we'll definitely need backup uh while we're shooting throughout the day uh we also have this 11,000 Mah hour battery pack from Gear power this is for our cell phon this means that we'll be able to charge our cell phones while we are covering CS just in case we we need extra power of course we have a USB 3 card reader if you guys don't know I'm unloading you know 32 GB footage from the CF card onto the computer it's a Time power hog so a USB 3 is totally crucial for uh work like this and this is our little battery charging station we'll have a bunch of uh spare batteries for the camera spare batteries for the LED everything will be charged uh for the next time to go so that we'll have power for the and now one last piece of equipment is this guy right here so uh this is a camera bag let me open this up so you can see what type of uh things we can fit inside so it's huge it's padded so all of our equipment will be nice and safe during Transportation this also opens up nice and easy for any TSA checkups which we we're looking really looking forward to well we're going to definitely get checked it also has um uh a notebook uh pocket here so my laptop is going to go in here Matt's going to have his own back as well uh to show where which is right here let's uh take a look nicely padded everything so we'll stash away some LED lights in here some battery packs he's going to have his back uh his laptop in there as well and uh this is it basically we're packing very light we're packing all the essentials for this sort of like event coverage so we can deliver the best audio the best video and also we have this microphone here this is a la mic let me show you uh so right now we are recording on our Zoom H uh 4N as you can see there's this is an XLR input that goes into the power bank for the LA mic that is on me right now it's not the easiest solution to go about uh you can see this is our level so I can know when I'm talking this is the lav mic right here oops I touched it it's very easy so I know where my levels are very important especially in loud environments as a rule of thumb you want to be peeking at -6 DB which is uh what we're doing right now so it's totally fine and DB stands for decb not douchebags that's right thanks Matt if anybody heard that DB stands for decb not douchebags so this is how we're going to pack this up so this is the zoom h4n uh the power break power brake goes into my pocket and since it's not the most convenient way so the actual zoom in for is going to go into my back pocket and we're sort of going to hide the XLR cable uh somewhere nice bum where you from mhm um and so now we are kind of left with this XLR cable we're just going to stash it away somewhere but mainly you'll be seeing this right so like for example if I'm talking about a certain product I'll be talking about like this that gives me both hands to basically touch the product and showcase it in the most appropriate way uh and obviously we'll also have a a handheld mic as well which is very convenient to sort of have the interviews and so that the other person doesn't have to be right in my face so that pretty much wraps it up for our CS 2014 equipment coverage we're really looking forward to uh doing bringing you a lot of videos so next time you see us we'll be in CS uh C in CS we'll be in Las Vegas uh actually it's not as warm as there as I expected I was hoping it would be like 20° and sunny but it's supposed to be there like I don't know 10° during the day so but anyways it's a lot warmer than it is in Canada in Toronto yeah it's uh snowing right there you can see a little bit of a windy day over there you know that's right so hope this is useful so this gives a little bit behind the scenes as to what we'll be bringing and um yeah so next time you see us we'll be in CS bringing you the latest and the greatest in hard-hitting coverage be Triyour hocu CS 2014 coverage is
