Lenovo's Struggle to Keep Up: The Moto G5s Leaked Images
Lenovo has gotten so bad at keeping their upcoming devices under wraps that it would seem they want us to leak this information. However, we're bringing you an exclusive look at yet another upcoming Lenovo handset, the Moto G5s, thanks to Android Authority's obtained images from a trusted source familiar with Lenovo's plans.
The Moto G5s is available in three color options: gray, gold, and blue, as showcased in the images. The front of the device doesn't stray too far from the design of the standard Moto G5 and G5 plus. A front-facing fingerprint sensor can be seen below the display, accompanied by a small Moto logo sandwiched between the earpiece and the screen on top.
Moving around to the back, the G5s also features the same round hockey puck-style camera as the standard Moto G5 lineup. Below that, one can notice the classic Motorola dimple near the center of the device. In addition to its familiar design elements, the G5s will boast a full metal construction, unlike the aluminum back plate and plastic sides found in the G5 and G5 plus. This switch to all-metal construction should make the upcoming Moto phone feel more high-end.
A notable change on the device is the presence of thin antenna cutouts on the top and bottom. According to Elite Slide, which surfaced last week, the Moto G5s will feature a 5.2-inch 1080p display. The Moto G5 plus, not pictured here, will sport a 5.5-inch 1080P screen.
As of now, we don't have any pricing or availability details to share. However, we will update you as soon as we learn more about the Moto G5s' release date and price tag. Lenovo's challenge in the mid-tier Android market is well-known. Samsung dominates the top end, while many Chinese manufacturers own the entry-level market and a significant portion of the mid-tier market.
However, Motorola, the brand behind Lenovo's popular handsets, has an advantage that its competitors lack. The Motorola brand is well-known in the US market, where it buys a huge number of expensive phones. This established presence in the US market gives Motorola an edge over many other Chinese manufacturers that have struggled to break into this market.
The question remains whether Lenovo can leverage this advantage with Motorola to succeed in the mid-tier Android market. What do you think? Share your thoughts on the comments below or in the Twitter verse.
