Xiaomi Mi4 Smartphone Review with Pros & Cons
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi there this is Ranjit and in this video we'll be doing the review for this mi4 and I have been testing this mi4 for almost 20 days now and this review is going to be very different I'll divide the review in two parts that's the things that I like with the mi4 and the things that I do not like with the mi4 so sort of pros and cons so let's get on with the review of the mi4 so here is the mi4 and before we proceed let me give you a configuration overview the mi4 supports of 5 in IPS great 1080p screen which comes to a PPI of 441 it is powered by a powerful Snapdragon 801 chipset which is a quad core processor clogged at 2.5 GHz it has the adreno 330 GPU and 3 gigs of RAM moving towards the camera the rear facing camera is a 13 map shooter and the front-facing camera is a 8 map shooter the battery is sealed inside which is a 3,000 milliamp battery and it also supports qualcom fast charging and the adapter provided does support fast charging so as you can see the general configuration of this mi4 is actually very good and needless to say it's a high-end Android handset that we are getting for a very incredible price in India the 16GB variant is sold for 20,000 and the 64GB variant is sold for 24,000 both these models are sold online via flip cart in India and now let's start with the pros and cons with the device and let's start with the cons first the first thing that I did notice with this device and I got used to it is the weight and yes it does not weigh that much it weighs just 149 G but the inhand field is slightly heavier to my liking but again as I mentioned you get used to it I got used to it within 3 or 4 days of usage second thing I really do not like about this device is the high s rating it has a s rating of 1.35 which is very high in my opinion another thing to not is that the mi4 though it supports 4G but it does not support 4G bands in India the me4 that is being sold in India does not support any 4G bands uh that are available in India so it works with just 2G and 3G in India so you got to be aware of that also as I did mention that this device does not have any micro SD card slot so the storage is what you get and I would strongly suggest that if you are a sort of a power user go with the 64 gig variant instead of the 16 gig variant the last minor con that I have with this device is that the speaker is just just has a mono speaker over here and the speaker though it's adequate but it's not very loud in my opinion now let's move to the things that I really like about this device and the pros the first thing is the 5in screen it's IPS grade screen and it has all the sensors that is auto brightness Etc and the quality of the screen provided is actually very good another good thing that I liked about this device is that even if you take it outdoors in bright sunlight then also the screen is easily legible now if we move to the camera the rear facing camera is a 13 map camera with LED flash and yes it can also record video up to 4K and the camera quality I would say is excellent I did actually made a dedicated video regarding the camera performance of this device so you can check out that for more samples but needless to say the camera quality on this device is actually very good when we move to the front facing camera also it is among the best that I have tested on an Android device It Sports a 8 mapix camera with the f1.8 lens hence even the front-facing camera quality was excellent now if we move to the battery the battery though it's a seal battery that's a 3,000 mAh battery the battery life that I was getting on this mi4 was very good it could easily last me around 1 and 1 half days to give you an idea the screen on time that I was getting on this device is around 5 odd hours and I have been using a note 4 earlier and just recently moved to the Note Edge and if we compare the battery life compared to those two devices definitely the mi4 goes ahead in terms of battery life compared to even the Note 4 and the note edge so easily I would say it can easily last you for a full one working day without any issues and also as I did mention earlier the supply charger that we get with this device is the fast charger so I could charge it from let's say around 10% to 100% within two OD hours but one thing to not is that you have to use the supplyed charger if you used any generic charger the charging time can be really high around 4 odd hours now if you move to the general performance of this Meo here also the phone did not disappoint me it is a very fluid device it runs on this Mi U UI 6 and yes we don't have any AP tray but you can easily install some third party uh launchers for example I'm using the Google Now launcher I have it right now it's a on the MUA you can easily set to third party launches let's do that you just go to the settings over here and from this installed app go to this default option and from the launcher just select the Google Launcher it's this Google app you can download it for free from the Android play store and now if I press home as you can see now I'm back to the familiar Google Launcher we get Google Now EXC and everything works for example Google now also works what's the weather like it's 29° and mostly sunny in Hyderabad so as you can see it works actually very well and you don't have to be restricted to the Mi UI the Google Now launcher works very well on this device even uh in terms of multitasking I had no issues with this device as it has 3 gigs of RAM and even while playing heavy games and doing multitasking it did perform very well now if we talk about gaming here also I had some very good experience it could play any game I threw on it and I even played some very heavy games like Asphalt 8 and Modern Combat 5 and it could play them without any issues also one thing that I did notice is that even after extended gaming for about 15 OD minutes or so the phone did not exhibit any major heating issues I also tested the GPS performance on this device and the GPS lock was also very good and it worked very well so no issues regarding that some of you have also asked me about any heating issues that I faced with this device and I'm happy to say that I did not notice any major heating issues while normally using the phone the only place where I did notice some minor heating was when I was shooting 4K video after about 3 4 minutes of shooting of 4K videos the device can get a bit War but apart from that while regularly using the phone and even while gaming I did not face any issues of heating some of you have also asked me when you charge the phone it does get a little bit warm and yes it does get a little bit warm but that is normal with fast charger that happens also on my note4 and the note uh H which supports fast charging so you don't have to be worried about that and overall in general performance the phone actually performed very well in my opinion also another thing that is available on this phone is it has IR Blaster so you can use that to control devices for example you have this Mi remote this is built in and for example as you can see I configured it with for my Samsung television and now I can control my Samsung television with this one but you can also add other devices for example uh the thing is that the database is not that big but yes uh they are improving as you can see have options for DVD players uh AC's and set toop box for example if you open the AC um these are the brands that are available you'll notice that some of the popular brands are there but some of the other brands are simply missing for example the there is no Samsung option or for example the Dy AC that I have in my office uh so they are building up this one I did test it with LG AC that I have and it worked so the IR Blaster works and you can control a lot of devices but the database is sort of limited as of now now so as you can see from the review the overall performance of the mi4 is very good and if you consider the price to Performance ratio it is actually really good but again there are some things that I do not like about the mi4 uh these are sort of nitpicking and in my personal opinion I would say the two things that I really do not like on the mi4 is the high SAR rating and the fact that this is the version that is being sold in India is not compatible with 4G networks in India but apart from that overall I would say the mi4 is an excellent handset and considering the price to Performance ratio this product does get a big thumbs up yes I know uh xiaomi is a new company and its service centers are just limited to Top Tire cities but this product is sold in India via flip cart and the thing with flip cart is that they have very good service if you have any issues with your handset in during the first 30 odd days you can easily get it replaced so yes so overall I would say considering the price to Performance ratio this mi4 does get a big thumbs up from me I hope that found this video review helpful if you found it helpful I'll appreciate if you can click the like button also don't forget to watch the other videos that I made on the mi4 covering its various other aspects thanks for watching this is Ranjit and I hope to see you in my next videohi there this is Ranjit and in this video we'll be doing the
