with a forthcoming update interest use it to playback music this thing still has a speaker but you can't really use it to play back any audio the speaker is just used for voice alerts and voice alarms these alarms to be really handy because they tell you not only what was detected co or smoke in what room or location it was detected at installation is dead simple whether you have the wired version or the battery equipped version and always they have a backup battery just in case the power should ever go out included is a bunch of different adapters which means if you've already got something in place it might be simple just connecting this to the wire that's already there the alarm is pretty simple though a little larger than your standard smoker CO detector there's a nightlight around the center which is also a giant button that you can use to reset and test the device there's a bunch of home kit codes including on the side so you can still see it when it's connected or on the back before you actually mount it in place and there's a third one included in the instruction manual not including the time it took us to actually locate a ladder tall enough to reach our existing smoke detector it only took us maybe two minutes to complete the actual installation of removing the existing detector and the bracket in twisting this thing into place we then set it up through the 1-lake app and added it to home kit in our case it's in the stairway so that's the room we've assigned it to inside of the home app the device actually shows up as two different products because there is a smart C Oh detector and that smart smoke detector so those show up is two different sensors inside of your home you can control notifications for either of them from the home app of course you're still gonna get notifications from the one linked app by itself so you don't need to double down and turn on the home kit ones unless you really want to be sure you get them or you want to get them on other devices because the one link ones will only show here through your phone you can also set up a variety of different notifications or automations using these sensors so maybe if your home and this thing to text either CEO or smoke you wouldn't turn the lights on in the house to make sure everyone's awake even though the noise should do that you still want to have those lights on so if it detects something you can turn all the different lights on in your house make sure you can see and find your way out or identify what's going on there's many different automation rules that you may want to create and set up they work just for you but it is just really nice to have everything here in one app inside of home kit not necessarily relying on third-party apps however the third-party app still has a few different things that you need it for including just the normal setup as well as configuring things like firmware updates here you can see our different products that we have directly from one link we have our safe and sound on top where we can actually play back music and connect to Amazon Alexa all that fun stuff and the lower one here which is the one we've just installed the new smart smoke and carbon monoxide detector it gives us our status at the bottom we have proper power everything's connected to Wi-Fi everything is good rocking and rolling exactly as we need to be you know there's any alerts it'll show them here as well as a 30 day history I love the idea of an internet-connected smoke alarm where it can always receive alerts no matter where I am and know what's happening in my home the thank you -
