Geoffrey Zakarian's Olive Oil Granola Bars _ Food Network

Introduction to "The Family That Cooks Together" and Jeffrey Zakarian's Home Kitchen

Hello everyone, I'm Jeffrey Zakarian, and welcome to my home kitchen where I'm excited to share with you a really amazing olive oil granola bar recipe from Madeleine's cookbook, featuring her sister. Today, we're going to make a delicious and healthy granola bar that will keep you full and easy to transport. As you can see, I'm in the company of my lovely daughter Madeline, who has graciously agreed to join me in this cooking adventure.

The Importance of Preparing Ingredients

Before we begin, I have some homework for all of you: please preheat your oven to 350 degrees, get a baking dish, and line it with cooking spray. This is crucial because the granola bars will stick to the pan if we don't grease it properly. Now that we've got our ingredients measured out, let's move on to the fun part – mixing everything together! As you can see, I have laid out all the dry ingredients in front of us: rolled oats, dry cranberries, cinnamon, brown sugar, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds, and some more rolled oats reserved from the original recipe.

Mixing Wet and Dry Ingredients

Now it's time to add the wet ingredients to our dry mixture. As you can see, I have organic peanut butter, maple syrup, and olive oil ready to go. Make sure to ground up your brown sugar because sometimes it sticks together in a little ball – we don't want that! So, let's get started by adding these ingredients to our large bowl. While we're doing this, what I'll be doing is putting together the wet ingredients myself.

Preparing the Baking Pan

Now that we have all our ingredients mixed together, let's prepare our baking pan. We've got a lined baking pan with parchment paper, which will ensure that our granola bars come out perfectly. Before we pour in our mixture, make sure it's all spread evenly across the pan – we don't want any bare spots!

Baking the Granola Bars

Okay, now it's time to pop our granola bars into the oven! We'll be baking them at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes, or until they're golden brown. As soon as they come out of the oven, let's hit pause and meet back here with Madeline so we can slice and taste together.

Slicing and Tasting the Granola Bars

Now that our granola bars are cool enough to handle, it's time to slice them up! I like to make sure they're cut into perfect squares or rectangles – after all, this is what makes a granola bar look like one. If you don't have time for them to cool completely, your cuts might not be as smooth and clean.

Sharing the Recipe with Madeline

It's now time for us to share our recipe with each other! I'll let Madeline give it a try first – she has her own special touches in mind that she thinks will make this granola bar even more delicious. And what do you think, everyone? Is there anything else we can add to this wonderful recipe?

Conclusion

Well, folks, that's it for today's episode of "The Family That Cooks Together"! I hope you enjoyed making these amazing olive oil granola bars with me and Madeline. With a mix of dry and wet ingredients, a bit of love, and some patience, we've managed to create a truly special treat that will satisfy your taste buds and keep you going all day long.
