Beyerdynamic Custom ONE Pro Headphones Review

The Custom 1 Pro: A Unique Pair of Headphones with Amazing Features and Flaws

The custom 1 Pro is a unique pair of headphones that offers an impressive range of features, including adjustable base response, biodynamic sound, and replaceable parts. One of the standout features of this headphone is its ability to adjust the base response, which allows users to customize the sound to suit their music genre preferences. The four settings for base response are represented by a frequency response graph, which provides a clear visual representation of what each setting does. While the custom 1 Pro doesn't exactly reach the advertised lows, the build quality and overall feel of the headphone is very impressive.

The Custom 1 Pro features an aluminum and steel frame, with some sturdy plastic bits, making it a German product that shows off its high-quality materials. The headphones are also very lightweight at 290g and flexible, making them comfortable to wear for extended periods of use. However, this flexibility comes with the downside of not being foldable, which means they won't be as portable as some other options.

One of the notable features of the Custom 1 Pro is its removable audio cable with a Twist-to-lock function and a screw-on/quarter-inch adapter. The ear cushions are also designed to provide nice noise isolation from the surrounding environment, while also preventing audio leak. The headband is comfortable and has a light steel design, and the exposed cable that passes through the headphone provides a sleek look.

However, not everything about the Custom 1 Pro is perfect. One of my main complaints is with the inside of the air cushion - it's perforated, which can cause irritation to some users. The spot where the two pieces are glued together or pieced together isn't smoothed out, making it feel like there's a slight lump or bump. This can make it uncomfortable to wear for extended periods.

Another issue I have with the Custom 1 Pro is that they don't allow your ears to breathe. As closed headphones, they don't provide adequate ventilation, which means that after an hour of use, I had to take them off to let my ears cool down. This can be a problem for some users, especially those who plan to wear them for extended periods.

Despite these flaws, the Custom 1 Pro is still an impressive headphone with several standout features. One of the most unique aspects of this headphone is its ability to customize characteristics of your audio directly from the headphones themselves. The four sliders allow users to adjust exactly how much base they want, and there's a large emphasis on quality of the base.

When playing around with the sliders, I found that each profile complements my listening style and music genre preferences in different ways. For example, the base-heavy profile is perfect for dubstep and house music, while the more subdued setting is better suited for classical or jazz tracks. However, the hollow mids were a major letdown for me - regardless of the profile, I felt like the midtones were suppressed, which affected the clarity and crispness of the sound.

The highs are well-tuned and not too crisp, but overall, the Custom 1 Pro isn't an all-around headphone. It's specifically designed to emphasize base and won't suffer from drowned midtones - something that will appeal to fans of genres like dubstep and house music. However, for classical or jazz enthusiasts, this headphone is a big no.

The Sound Stage was decent for a closed headphone, but the lack of proper mid-range made me miss my lovely HD558 headset for better listening experiences. The Custom 1 Pro is still an impressive pair of headphones with amazing features like replaceable parts, lightweight design, and adjustable base response that delivered an enjoyable listening experience for some genres. However, they're not without their flaws, and I was honestly expecting more given the price.

Overall, the Custom 1 Pro is a unique headphone that offers several impressive features, but also comes with its own set of drawbacks. If you're a fan of genres like dubstep or house music, and don't mind the lack of mid-range clarity, then this headphone might be worth considering. However, for those looking for an all-around headphone with balanced sound, you might want to look elsewhere.

definitely an audio brand that you should recognize they make premium headphones uh with comparable quality to siser or Shore so I'm really excited to put these to the test so these are the custom one pro the name is representative of the exchangeable ear plates they're about $20 for a pair so you can print customizable logos and they serve really no function but gain you the bragging rights and aesthetic customization the second feature behind the name is the adjustable base response but more on that later pricing on these is actually quite competitive at 250 bucks considering they're made in Germany and all the included features but how do they sound for such a premium price so specs wise we're looking at a very low impeded headphone only at 16 ohms this means we have very low amount of resistance on the electrical current and thus they would be ideal for use on portable players like your tablet smartphone or an iPod they are plenty sensitive toe at 96db and have a wide range of frequency response so one of the unique features of the custom 1 Pro is the adjustable base response and biodynamic actually includes a frequency response graph to represent what each of the four adjustments do and I have to say being able to reduce the base for more flat sound or enhance it for house music is very satisfying although custom one pro didn't exactly reach the lows that are advertised the build quality and the overall feel of the headphone is very impressive with aluminum and steel frame and some sturdy plastic bits basically this is a German product and it shows they're also quite lightweight at 290 G and very very flexible and we also have a height adjustment now sadly these are not foldable which means they are not going to be as portable so the headphones also feature a removable audio cable with a Twist to lock function and a screw on/ quar of an inch adapter ear cushions are plenty soft and provide nice noise isolation from the surrounding environment and also make sure there's no audio leak the headband is also comfortable and reveal a light steel headband and the exposed cable that passes through now on the one hand I do like the look of this design but it makes me question the durability of the product if you travel a lot now on a pair of headphones where the cushions the side plates and the main cable can be replaced this might be a significant design flaw as the headband cable isn't replaceable now putting these headphones on first of all they're very light and the leather cushions are soft and the driver is deep enough so regardless of how large your ears are they never make contact with the internals but I do have two main complaints now first the inside of the air Cush is perforated and the spot where the two pieces are sort of glued together or pieced together isn't smoothed out so I could definitely feel that with my ears and honestly it was irritating the second these headphones don't allow your ears to breathe now they are closed headphones but still after an hour of use I had to take them off to let my ears cool so moving on to adjust the base response each ear cup has a slider they click once in either of the four positions but since they provide quite a bit of resistance so you can set the slider for anywhere in between to adjust exactly how much base you wanted for different types of music and so finally let's talk audio quality now I have to admit this is a very unique product with a very reasonable function to customize characteristics of your audio directly from the headphones so I left them to burn in overnight and have been constantly using them for over a week and upon putting them on I was uh both impressed and very disappointed at the same time now you do have to play around with the sliders to find the best spot which complements your listening style and your music genre for example there's no need for base enhancement for classical or any vocal heavy tracks but very much desirable for dubstep house hip hop and the ability to seamlessly switch between these profiles is a huge bonus now there's also a large emphasis on quality of the base on the custom one pro and I actually quite liked it on second and third profile it was deep and prominent without Distortion so you can still hear a clear instrument difference differentiation the first and fourth setting however were my least favorite because for the first there was no depth and sounded quite dull while the base heavy profile got rid of any Sound Stage so base aside my main disappointment with these cans was the hollow mids regardless of the profile it felt like the midtones were suppressed which also contribut to a loss of clarity particularly for vocals they weren't as crisp as I'd hoped which is a major let down particularly for the price the highs are well tuned and not too crisp but the bottom line is the custom 1 Pro isn't an allaround headphone but specifically designed for genres that emphasize base and that would not suffer from drowned midtones so for classical or Jazz these are a big no The Sound Stage was all right for a closed headphone and I love the depth of the base uh for uplifting house and dubstep and they did prove quite awesome for Crisis 3 as well but I have to admit I did miss nicely tuned mid-range which made me put my lovely hd558 back on for proper listening experience so as I mentioned before the custom one pro is a unique pair of headphones with an amazing build quality replaceable Parts lightweight for extended period of use and adjustable base response that delivered an enjoyable listening experience for some genres but they're certainly not without this flaws like the exposed overhead cable that could be damaged over time slight irritation from periphery ear cups and the lack of proper midtones that doesn't fully satisfy and I was honestly expecting more given the price so thanks guys for watching don't forget to like this video if you
