Gearing Up for the Next Big Challenge: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Pro Mod Racing
As we sat down with the crew, it was clear that they were all buzzing with excitement. They had just witnessed an incredible performance by their car, a 192-inch dragster that had left everyone in attendance stunned. The driver, who wished to remain anonymous, had managed to coax out a blistering speed of 226 miles per hour, not only breaking personal bests but also leaving the crowd in awe.
The team was abuzz with questions about what had gone right for the car's driver. "What did you do differently that time?" one of them asked. The driver replied, "I'm not sure, I think I might have been on the big end, it sounded pretty consistent, and then it hooked up a bit sooner and rolled really smoothly." Despite their best efforts, the team was still trying to pinpoint the exact adjustments they made to get the car to perform so well.
As we talked with the driver, it became clear that this wasn't an isolated incident. He had been working tirelessly to improve his skills and push the limits of what was thought possible on the dragstrip. "I've gone 200 and then 201 in Hondo in June," he said with a grin. "But I still got knocked back down to 170 by the end of the week. It's amazing how much of an improvement you can make in just a few days."
The team was already looking ahead to the next challenge, which would be taking place on Sunday. They had lined up a special feature event that would pit their car against two other incredibly talented drivers: Ned and his Pro Mod C6 Corvette. The competition was expected to be fierce, but with their car's recent performance, they were feeling confident.
As we chatted with the driver, he mentioned that they would be doing some additional testing before the main event to fine-tune the car's setup. "We'll be doing a few more passes today, just to get a feel for where we need to make adjustments," he explained. The team was eager to see what kind of speed they could coax out of their car and were making every effort to optimize its performance.
As we wrapped up our conversation with the driver, it was clear that this was going to be an event to remember. With their car's recent performance and the talent-lined field, there was no doubt that the competition would be fierce. But one thing was for sure: this team was on a mission to bring home the win.
After what seemed like hours of discussion, we were finally told when the rear-wheel drive final would take place. It was going to be on Sunday, and it would feature their car facing off against Ned's Pro Mod C6 Corvette. The excitement in the air was palpable as everyone waited with bated breath to see who would emerge victorious.
The day of the big event finally arrived, and the team was ready. Their car took to the track, its tires screeching as it hurtled down the straightaway. The crowd watched in awe as the car flew past, its speedometer needle spinning wildly as it approached 226 miles per hour. It was a truly breathtaking sight, and one that left everyone in attendance cheering.
As the results were announced, it became clear that their car had emerged victorious. They had taken home the win in the rear-wheel drive class, leaving Ned's C6 Corvette a distant second. The team erupted into cheers as they celebrated their victory, and the driver couldn't help but smile from ear to ear. It was an incredible feeling, one that he would never forget.
As we wrapped up our conversation with the driver, it became clear that this was more than just a win for them. It was a testament to their hard work and dedication. "It's unbelievable," he said, shaking his head in amazement. "I didn't expect to be anywhere near that speed at all." The team's perseverance had paid off, and they were now looking towards even greater heights.
In the end, it was clear that this team was on a mission to make history. With their car's recent performance and their determination to push the limits of what was thought possible, there was no doubt that they would be back for more. The future looked bright, and one thing was for sure: we couldn't wait to see what they had in store next.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enforeign 222 for the old corvette that was fast and you could tell he had traction problems off the line too sorry to talk to you real quick we saw you in kansas yes and you guys brought this out we thought you were insane because you brought a pro mod to a half marathon it was the fastest you did in kansas we only made three passes 172. yeah it wasn't it wasn't very kind of quarter mile gear in it and what did you do because 222 off the trailer that's pretty damn good what did you do to change it up 300 rear gear 300 that's it i know throttle was a little tricky before oh yeah and it's still not much longer i didn't know it's like about third way through the pass you were able to give it like a good steady time i was able to roll in and go so 222 what's your goal now 222 is a pretty damn good number yeah i'm i'm pleased with that is there any turning up a little more just seeing if you get trash earlier download the data and see what rpm i was at when i crossed the finish line gotcha i didn't it seems about the same but it does you know it's like where's the end where's the end where's the end right it's stable that's real stable really yeah if you guys do anything arrow wise nothing all you do is put 300 rear gear 300 rear gear and that's it kyle and i were talking i was like i think that's the same because there's like there's got to be no other guys crazy enough to do a problem and a half mile with big blowers this is the same guy all right now that you've done one 222 what do you think it could do maybe 2 30. yeah all right well it's good seeing you boys again sir you guys are crazy you're absolutely crazy for taking this thing out here having fun we're out here playing i appreciate it man well good luck all right hopefully we see at 2 30. thank you yep so we saw these guys in kansas i didn't we thought it was a different car he comes up to me he's like oh obviously the same car i had met him before but we saw them in kansas and i was like there's no way these guys brought this pro mod on this trailer to do a half hour i want to talk to him yeah that's exactly what they were doing and they were trying to get the car figured out they had a pretty tall gear in it uh for for like big racing type stuff put 300 rear gear in it did 222 off the trailer uh destroyed his goal of 200 and we could see what he did for us today i'm thinking it can do faster than 230 at this point this race doesn't seem very fair right what'd you run earlier 141 141 okay and you you ran how fast two two two so how much of a head start are you giving him he said six seconds six seconds so just spinning the whole way that's crazy i gotta say i don't know the slowest 192 i've ever seen in my life that looked like a handful that time it was did you make any changes or just you couldn't get the throttle yeah well i let him go and i was trying i was too anxious to catch him gotcha and that's i was too in a hurry to go and just did too much but seriously you kept getting in it now but i was like there's no way it's gonna be anything it's like 192. i was like that's crazy thought it was a little faster because i looked down i was running about 6 800 when i went through the finish line so i thought it was gonna be a little thought it's gonna be over 200. well still spinning you're gonna take it up there one more time today you're gonna pack it in for tomorrow couldn't get it to re-fire down there pulls out some of the fuel fuels so we'll take a look at it if i get it back all right well we'll see you later today or theater tomorrow sir thank you all right what are we doing this time what are you thinking i'm not going to make that guesstimation okay okay at least you're not you're not racing anybody so you want to catch up to nobody just going to go play all right a little worried about the crosswind but we'll be out good luck 223 223 nice one more mile an hour one mile an hour faster for the c2 seems like they got the c2 hooked up pretty good they're not too bad on traction today all right 223 we're making improvements that's 223. what'd you do different that time nothing nothing it sounded i was on the big end it sounded pretty consistent it was it sort of it hooked up a little bit a little sooner and rolled it was smooth you know stable gain you're going to do a couple more passes today yeah oh yeah all right all right what do you think now that you've done a couple passes in that 220 range what do you think you can get out of it by the end of the day i was at 73 20 rpm when i crossed the finish line okay so i only got a couple hundred rpm left how about i say what do you rev it to yeah 75 okay so i got just a little bit left so the main goal i guess will be crossed at 7 500 and see where we're at maybe 225 something like that we'll see yeah draggy said 224.39 on that one oh yeah okay but this is officials well we'll see you next time all right coming out so we got the rear wheel drive final for sunday which includes our buddy ned that you guys probably seen a thousand times before and then the c2 grow mod corvette he's done 223 ned has done 229 so it should be relatively close the wind does not go off of who crosses the line versus who goes fastest so they give you five seconds apart but if the second car goes 10 miles an hour faster they win so the ned and the pro mod c2 shift sector nexus half mile rear-wheel drive here comes ned right behind him 226. hell yeah boys hell 226 to 225 the c2 takes it the c6 did a c2 to 226 and ned to 225 the c2 corvette taking home the win on the rear wheel drive class we got to see this first of all congratulations that was unexpected what did you did 2 226 and he did 225. yeah so first of all personal best for you yes and anywhere that mile an hour at all really and before this week i thought in kansas you did 170. yeah 172 in kansas and your first pass here you beat it by 50 miles an hour yep that's insane i've went 200 and then 201 in hondo in june okay so i still had bumped it up 20 21 miles an hour first pass here yesterday so you're thinking you're going to come to more half miles now oh yeah oh yeah i'll still i'll still do my eighth mile and quarter mile bracket racing but yeah i'm gonna possibly build a purpose-built car for this oh there it is there it is you got the bug yeah that's what it is well thank you so much for bringing the car it's crazy seeing a freaking pro mod like this out here so thank you very much for bringing it out sure uh we'll see you at the next one man all right thank you
