First Drive In Our Rotary Swapped SideKick! (Also Does Sick Burnouts)

The Sidekick Turbo Kit: A Thrilling Adventure in Bristol

As we embarked on our latest project, a turbo kit installation on our trusty Sidekick, we knew it wouldn't be an easy task. The project was already off to a rocky start, with a delayed package and limited time to complete the installation. However, undeterred, we decided to push forward and make some necessary adjustments.

We started by creating a quick up pipe for the turbocharger, which would allow us to breathe easier while working on the engine. Unfortunately, our initial plans for an exhaust system were derailed due to the package delay, so we had to settle for a traditional up pipe. To mitigate the heat generated by the turbocharger, we wrapped it in heat tape to keep it from getting too hot.

With the installation underway, we decided to take the Sidekick for a quick test drive to ensure everything was working as expected. As we put her through her paces, we noticed that she had some issues with shifting gears and responding to throttle input. However, after a few laps around the block, everything seemed to be running smoothly.

During our test drive, we also discovered that the Sidekick's manual transmission could be a bit finicky at times. When shifting into second gear, it would often stick in first gear for a brief moment before switching to second. We weren't too concerned about this issue, as we knew the car had some potential hidden beneath its surface.

As we continued our test drive, we encountered another problem: a boost leak that was causing the turbocharger to lose power. However, after a quick diagnosis and repair, we were able to get the boost back up and running smoothly.

Despite these initial hiccups, we were determined to make the Sidekick run well and perform admirably. We decided to take her on a special "Taco Bell" drive, which would give us an opportunity to test her performance in various conditions. As we drove through the streets, we noticed that the car was handling surprisingly well, with good oil pressure and no major issues.

However, things took a turn for the worse when we encountered some wet asphalt on our route. The Sidekick's tires began to lose traction, and she started to skid out in second gear. We quickly corrected her, but not before realizing that the car's manual transmission was indeed struggling to cope with the slippery conditions.

Undeterred, we decided to push on and continue our test drive. As we approached Taco Bell, we were eager to see if the Sidekick could handle the demands of a crowded parking lot. We parked her in a prime spot and got out to take some photos, but our excitement was short-lived as a neighbor complained about the loud noise from the engine.

After finishing up our test drive, we decided it was time to load up the Sidekick and head on over to Bristol for some final tuning and preparation before the big event. As we worked on buttoning up any loose ends, we couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment at having overcome so many obstacles to get the car running well.

The final hours leading up to our departure were filled with last-minute preparations and fine-tuning adjustments. We added a heat shield around the up pipe to prevent overheating and installed some additional cooling components to ensure the turbocharger stayed within its operating parameters. Despite these efforts, we still had one final hurdle to overcome: a burnout.

With the Sidekick loaded up and ready to go, we set off into the night, our hearts racing with excitement. As we approached the destination, we couldn't help but feel a sense of trepidation about what lay ahead. Would our trusty Sidekick be able to handle the demands of the road? Only time would tell.

As we arrived in Bristol and began to prepare for the big event, we couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude towards Mike, who had come out to lend a hand with the installation. His expertise was invaluable, and we knew that without him, our car wouldn't be where it is today.

With all systems go, we set off into the night, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. Our trusty Sidekick, once plagued by issues and doubts, had transformed into a formidable machine, capable of tackling even the toughest roads with ease. We were excited to see what the future held for our beloved vehicle and couldn't wait to share our adventures with you, our loyal readers.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enum so all right guys as you saw in the last video we got the turbo kit done on the side kick here we went ahead and just made a quick up pipe for this thing unfortunately we did not have enough time to make an exhaust that goes down and out because our package was delayed so you know we're going to our traditional up pipe here we got her heat wrapped just to help keep some heat off the battery and all the wiring that is near it but we're going to go ahead and take this thing for a quick test drive make sure it shifts through the gears okay and uh go from there we have to get this thing loaded up by the end of today we have a lot to do so let's get to it uh room who needs a dino when you got some wet asphalt so all the way back is first that's first okay second and that's dry nice drive okay okay that's what i needed to know but it is a manual second so if you put it in seconds um no third gear i'd flip around up here it's getting pretty bad this thing's sketching the rain um yeah it's running good other than that you got good oil pressure not getting hot 183. okay it might be okay does have third we just weren't going fast enough yeah that's just weird though like it would you would click third and it would just rev up though like it wouldn't stay in second now it's staying at second this thing's gonna be kind of fast it's so scary oh dude you ready to take this thing to taco bell yeah man give it a try maiden voyage right here hopefully everything's sorted on it and uh it just goes smooth and be nice yeah sir we think we got her guys she's running cool ready to go get some t-bell and if that drive goes successful maybe we'll come back maybe we should try just like a little standing baby burnout i'm about it just to see we got to do a little street tuning on it that's our whole reason for the t-bell drive and uh yeah and then if it's good i'm definitely about seeing if it'll do a burnout otherwise i mean that's the whole point we're going to walk drive for about to drive ten hours and we don't even know if the thing can do a burnout so take it to t-bell we'll get back and maybe we'll make some smoke when we get back from tebow i mean we did have a little mini dino session kind of it's not running right we got a freaking boost leak dude oh do we we forgot the nip or the little uh plug no we didn't we're good you have to drill that out oh really yep it's solid i already looked at that we're good we're good we fricked up for a second no we are good we're freaking taco bell ready dude we are ready to hit it yeah let's go get some dorito locos tacos in our dorito-powered sidekick all issues aside guys this thing is coming out really sweet after this you can get on it a little bit i want to see how do you think you can get a little baby boost yeah i just leave it in first yeah uh actually graph second okay fast getting closer it's is we are looking good boys she's staying cool right about 183 degrees we made six pounds of boost that's about feels pretty good it's honestly probably a good thing we don't have too much boost right now considering we only have front brakes we do have the e-brake working still so it's not too sketchy but we do want to be a little careful in such a tiny car and it just rained outside so we're not trying to get too rowdy with it out here but we're almost to taco bell the almighty taco bell could i get two dorito locos tacos and a baja blast give me about hop last two two baja blasts what size uh no we gotta go large large it's a big day yeah large blasts that's all oh buddy those are some sweet paws here dorito mobile solid day we're good i wish i wish we got someone a little more fun that lady was not yeah i wish to do that i wish the dude that took our order works the window he's awesome yeah there's this lady in the morning and every time i come through here with the portion she knows my order and she's like we're making breakfast burrito and she's awesome and if we came through she would have let us do a burnout in that drive she would have encouraged it yeah all right i'm gonna give it some more fuel up top i want you to rev it out in second gear this time okay if it doesn't feel too sketchy dude these are some of the weakest baja blasts we have ever received from this big establishment they're normally on point at this taco bell but it's just like watered down a lot so it's whatever though solid i don't have we go good i'm gonna try a little burnout me hey turn your blinker off uh i think she's gonna do okay the neighbors probably didn't like that dude oh boys that is gonna be a wrap on the side kick for today hope to see you guys out of bristol it's literally 10 p.m right now we're getting ready to load this thing up got her done last minute here we've just been busy for the last couple hours buttoning some final things up as you just saw we did a pretty decent burnout in front of the shop here and it's only making six psi i didn't really run this thing out super hard because i know it's not completely tuned yet so we didn't want to be sitting on a river limiter and hurt something but we will do some more final tuning once we get out to bristol while the vargas brothers there and you know everyone else will drive it around make sure it's good to go before we do a burnout we did some last minute things here got a heat shield around the up pipe while i got that knocked out a quick little battery uh hold down the stuff back here was getting really hot even with the heat wrapped exhaust here so we just added a heat shield just to hopefully not melt the wires back there because this thing's going to get extremely hot if we do a burnout it was looking promising though when we went and drove it around it didn't get over 185 degrees so our little radiator is working and the cooling system is good and that's about it so we still have another hour so here we get loaded up go to bed and hit the road tomorrow for bristol so it was quite the thrash here but she's ready to go boys we fought a lot of issues lots of atf was on the floor but i think we're good to go wyatt freaking killed it staying up late with me and huge thanks to mike for coming out and uh helping us make it happen so we'll see how she does in bristol and that's gonna do it for today's video guys hope you enjoyed we'll see you there you\n"
